As winter approaches on the farm, things can get a little desolate. The birds flew south for the winter and all my furry little farm friends are hibernating.
Some days I wander around aimlessly just hoping to find a squirrel to chase, or sit longingly at one of my groundhog holes.
And then some days lady luck shines down on me and I find a dried up worm along my travels.
We play the epic battle of eternal debate as I contemplate whether or not to bury it.
Most times my impatient self wins out and I do what any cute little dachshund that longs for summer and furry animals to chase would do…
…I roll on top of that stinky little worm until I too smell like stink.
It’s not as good as chasing squirrels, barking at birds, or hunting groundhogs – but at least it’s something!
Sigh. Please come back furry friends, I promise I’ll give you a head start in our never ending game of chase.
Oh they’ll come back Ammo!I live in Florida, I think all your bird friends are visiting me!
Kisses and Tail Wags,
Dachshund Nola
Tell all the birdies to some back soon!
Oh Ammo, I am choking on my lunch I am laughing so hard! I hope you enjoyed rolling in your stinky worm. I have the feeling mom will be giving you a bath tonight. You funny little bugger.
🙂
Oh Ammo, you look so forlorn in your first picture, but by the end of this story you had me smiling at your joy in the little things:)
Oh Ammo how could roll in that stinky worm wearing such a beautiful coat lol It looks great at your place, but where are those squirrels when you need them!:)
I tried sending the squirrels a letter to tell them to come back. But I must have gotten the mailing address wrong. boohoo!
