What is Chlorella? That’s exactly what I was wondering when the company Sun Chlorella offered me up the chance to test out their line of Pet Rejuv-a-Wafers (which are made from Chlorella). So I did a little research (ok ok, I just searched for it on webmd) and I found out that Chlorella is a type of algae that grows in fresh water and is used to make supplements and medicine.
According to my friend (Mr. WebMd) Chlorella can be used to prevent cancer, reduce radiation treatment side effects, stimulate the immune system, increase white blood cells, prevent colds, improve digestion, heal ulcers, as well as various other benefits in humans.
It sounds great and all, but what can it do for a dog? Well according to Sun Chlorella the key benefits for dogs are:
- Boosts your pet’s energy for more walks and playfulness
- Gives your pet a beautiful glossy coat
- Freshens breath
- Detoxifies the body
- Promotes good eye health
So I decided to give it a whirl as I couldn’t find any serious side effects from taking it (other than your #2’s might turn green – don’t be alarmed if they do). These little green pills don’t really smell like anything but be aware they aren’t your average “dog cookie” as in they don’t taste like bacon, sausage, hot dogs, or any other thing that I’d typically want to be eating. So for the picky eaters you might have to hide them in SAID hot dog, I’m sure the non-picky eaters wouldn’t complain if it was in a hot dog either.
I’m not a picky eater, so I’ve been happily gobbling up my Rejuv-a-wafers each morning with my breakfast for the past week.
Mom said she noticed that I’ve been a bit more rambunctious at work lately, although I’m not sure she totally appreciated my cardboard shredding antics. At 5 years old I may not need the added energy boost, but I think the older dogs out there would greatly benefit from the little pep in their step from the rejuv-a-wafers. I’m going to continue taking them (the box comes with 60 wafers) and I’ll be sure to report back on how it’s benefited me. Mom has her fingers crossed it really does wipe out doggie breath!
A portion of the proceeds from REJUV-A-WAFERS sales goes to support The Gentle Barn animal rescue organization! Yay for helping pets in need!

I hope they cure doggie breath too!!! My two dogs are picky eaters if you offer them something individually but on the chance the other will get to eat it they will gobble just about anything up (to include raw garlic and vegetables).
Rhett will eat just about anything (but onions are NOT on that list!).
We need the wipe out bad breath for sure!
My Rex will eat anything! He’s not picky at all. He is especially fond of cheese and lunch meat, though.
Ammo – I think you need to make sure and tell Baxter (Kalyxcornucopia) all about this as he would be very excited to see his poopie snakes as GREEN!
**Cowboy & Ginger are using ProDen Plaque Off is a new innovation in oral care containing specially selected seaweed which is harvested from the seas of Norway and Iceland.
It contains 12 vitamins, 13 minerals & trace elements and is rich in natural iodine. – Breath is pretty good now! 🙂 **
I’m not too picky, but some stuff I won’t touch!
Nola
My two doxies (ages 14 and 12) would LOVE to try these!!
