My mom’s favorite pet nutritionist, Rodney Habib, has lots of great information on why it’s important to add fresh vegetables to your dog’s daily diet. With the simple addition of veggies to your pet’s food, you could help prevent cancer! Now that’s pretty cool.

Lucky for me, I’m actually a vegetable lover, but many dogs out there hate them.

  1. Hi Ammo–this is a great post. It’s great to know that 90% of dogs given green vegetables are less likely to develop cancer. Try steaming a floret of broccoli in the microwave for 45 seconds–my dog loves it!

  2. Wow! I never thought about stuffing veggies into my dogs toys. I would always just leave a small bowl of carrots (my cocker spaniels fav veggie) and sometimes she would eat them, sometimes she wouldn’t.

Definitely going to try packing some veg and peanut butter into the kong and see how it goes.

    Super helpful!

  3. Hiya Ammo!!! I always share veggies with the babies. They especially love carrots and like sweet potatoes too. I didn’t see them anywhere, but they love them. Thanks for the great info. Blessed be, love and hugs!!! Pam, Misty, and Rio

  4. Hi, Ammo! I’m Christmas the Dachshund! I get vegetables every few days! My momma will put some coconut oil, blueberries, and broccoli in a food processor and serve it on top of my food, and I LOVE it!

    • I didn’t even think about mixing with peanut butter. I’m definitely gonna try that. I tried chopping up raw carrots and soaking them in beef broth overnight. She wouldn’t eat them. The winner seemed to be grinding the veggies–carrots, eggplant and cabbage–and boiling them in beef broth. Then she ate it all. Looks like a vegetable grinder is in my future! Either that or all of our meals will be Indian or Chinese. She always eats the veggies when they are well flavored!
