Fall Jacket Time

Ammo the Dachshund // Fall Jacket Time

It’s that time of year again where I get to break out my fall and winter wardrobe – as it’s been getting a bit cooler now.

Ammo the Dachshund // Fall Jacket Time

I tend to wear my jackets a lot more when I’m on the farm – gotta keep warm and toasty when hunting for groundhogs.

Ammo the Dachshund // Fall Jacket Time

And as a bonus, I look extra stunning in yellow.

Construction on the Farm

Ammo the Dachshund // Construction on the Farm

The construction on Trooper’s new house at the farm has really been moving along pretty quickly. Every time I come there is something new to look at.

Ammo the Dachshund // Construction on the Farm

Ammo the Dachshund // Construction on the Farm

I was admiring the handiwork from afar, when I decided, what the hey – lets go check it out!

Ammo the Dachshund // Construction on the Farm

Ammo the Dachshund // Construction on the Farm

Ammo the Dachshund // Construction on the Farm

Up close Trooper’s new house looked solid enough.

Ammo the Dachshund // Construction on the Farm

But with these big empty rooms, there is really only one way to know for sure if it’s going to hold up to the rigors of me and Trooper’s wrestle parties.

Ammo the Dachshund // Construction on the Farm

Time to fly!

Ammo the Dachshund // Construction on the Farm

Lucky for Trooper I’m such a good friend that I tested out and approved his new home for endless bounding. It gets my stamp of approval for wrestle parties too…..although we may want to add some carpeting.

Ammo the Dachshund // Construction on the Farm

I can’t wait until Trooper’s new house is ready! I’ve already staked out a few looking windows that have a straight line shot to viewing my groundhog holes – I have my paws crossed the construction workers don’t forget to add a doggie door. I hope Trooper lets me sleepover all the time!

The Hunt for My Missing Collar

It’s true, on Monday night I lost my collar somewhere on the farm. My pretty one from the Polka Dog Line at Target, complete with my new Blanket ID tag, and my new Cropscotch tag, and even my two new Rubit Clips. Sigh, I was sort of in the dog house when I told mom I had lost all of those things at once. And the worst part was, I couldn’t even remember where I lost it.

Ammo the Dachshund // The Hunt for His Missing Collar

So the next day mom and I set out to search the farm for my collar. WE LOOKED EVERYWHERE! Needless to say with 20 acres to search it didn’t turn up.

Ammo the Dachshund // The Hunt for His Missing Collar

Then, in a sudden turn of events that day, I accidentally lost my back-up collar! I must have been so engrossed in digging out some local groundhogs that it slipped off my neck. This time we were able to find my collar nearby one of the holes, which made us come to the conclusion that my other collar must be down one of the holes too!

Ammo the Dachshund // Hunting for his missing Collar

So the very next day we set out on a digging mission (oh happy day) to find my collar.

Ammo the Dachshund // The Hunt for the Missing Collar

Armed with shovels and the super strength of my digging paws the mission was simple – dig up groundhog holes!

Ammo the Dachshund // The Hunt for the Missing Collar

The whole time I just kept thinking those pesky groundhogs were parading around down there with my prized collar (I am sort of a fashion icon).

Ammo the Dachshund // The Hunt for the Missing Collar

I worked myself up into a frenzy over them wearing my collar and ended up doing most of the digging, surprise surprise.

Ammo the Dachshund // The Hunt for the Missing Collar

But despite my best digging efforts I was unable to locate my lost collar. Tear. I can’t bear the thought of those groundhogs with something of mine!

Ammo the Dachshund // The Hunt for the Missing Collar

But the very worst part was, when we were all done, mom filled in all of my holes!!!! This is just horrible, I’m going to have to pull double digging duty tomorrow to un-dig them all. Sigh. Ammo the Dachshund

On the Job

You may recall that there are some new changes happening on the family farm, most of which involve building Trooper a super duper new house!

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Job // Construction

And since we consider this the family farm, everyone is expected to pitch in and help with the construction, Trooper and I included. I am certainly no stranger to working hard on the farm, in fact, it wasn’t that long ago that I was just a wee pup being introduced to fence building with the family.

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Job // Construction

So for our newest family construction project we set out to tackle laying radiant flooring on the basement. I gave Trooper the task of Foreman #1.

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Job // Construction

I on the other hand, took on the job of Foreman #2, mostly because Foreman #2 can get away with taking naps on the job! Trooper is such a sucker.

On Day #1 of the install I oversaw the installation of the floor insulation which had to be cut and taped into place.

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Job // Construction

My crew worked pretty diligently but by sunset they still had lots of insulation left to install. (those slackers).

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Job // Construction

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Job // Construction

So by Day #2 I decided to get my hands dirty and speed up the process.

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Job // Construction

And wouldn’t you know, with my extra help the install went much quicker and by sunset we were nearly complete! I guess all they needed was a little doxie power! Ammo the Dachshund

Stay tuned, as there are lots more construction projects in my near future!

Mounted Games and Versatility with the Ponies

On Sunday we held another competition at the farm.

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

When we hold competitions, they typically aren’t what you think of when you hear “horse show”. No, you won’t see any fancied up ponies parading around an arena earning marks for good looks. Instead you’ll see handy ponies navigating obstacles in our versatility trail and top speed racers vying for a first place finish in our mounted games events. It’s totally my kind of event, which is why I volunteered my services to judge.

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

We had a variety of ages and skill levels attempt our challenging obstacle course, all of which were hoping to win the jackpot cash prize!

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

I put on my most serious face, and took to judging the riders with great scrutiny. Looking for those who worked well with their ponies, and navigated the obstacles with ease.

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

As you can imagine, it’s quite exhausting to use your serious face all day long.

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

And inevitably I had to take a short nap to regain my strength so I could score the mounted games portion of the day.

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

Scoring the mounted games events is quite difficult, because not only do you have to keep your eyes peeled for rule infractions, but you also have to keep a close watch on the finish line in order to catch the placings. It’s such a challenging job that I enlisted to help of several scribes.

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

Sometimes the riders come into the finish neck and neck and you really have to pay attention!

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

Don’t worry – I was on the job the whole entire time!

Ammo the Dachshund // Mounted Games Competition on the Farm

Ok, fine, there may have been a quick nap between races – but I swear that was it! Ammo the Dachshund

Our next competition on the farm will be held on Sunday, October 7th. If you are in the Chester County, PA area I hope you’ll consider coming out to compete or cheer on the teams! It’s always such a fun day! More details here.

Busy Weekend on the Farm

Phew! I don’t know about you, but I had a busy weekend!

Ammo the Dachshund on the Farm

I spent most of my time on the farm, helping to run the horse show, and even doing a little construction work.

Ammo the Dachshund on the Farm

Well, I may have squeezed in some quality time with my ponies too.

Ammo the Dachshund on the Farm

So after my busy weekend, I’m looking a little bit like this. And it was so wild in fact that I even lost my collar – somewhere on the farm! (Mom and I are off to search for it this morning).

But not to worry, I should be fully recovered from weekend-overdose tomorrow – and I’ll be back to share my exciting weekend adventures with you! Ammo the Dachshund

Ponies, Dogs, and Movie Stars, Oh My!

You might remember that back in July the Painting Ponies and I began filming for the a brand new Painting Pony DVD. And while my Uncle Taylor still has lots of editing to do before we can release our big Trick Performances DVD, I just couldn’t wait any longer to share our new Intro Video for the website.

I know you are all on the edge of your seats in anticipation, so without dragging it out any longer, here it is in all it’s glory….

And to answer your question, yes, I did most of my scenes in the nude. You’re welcome. *wink*

No Safety Net

Yesterday Mom and Dad did something totally crazy and thrilling and adventurous – and I wasn’t even invited!

Ammo the Dachshund // Mountain Climbing // Ziplining

They went zip lining without me! Can you believe it!?

I was pretty annoyed that I wasn’t allowed to go along, even after I offered to provide my own helmet, so I decided to have an adventure of my own on the farm.

Ammo the Dachshund // Mountain Climbing // Ziplining

Mountain Climbing is much more exciting anyway!

Sitting on the Bench

Yesterday mom and I snuck out a bit early from work and headed out to the farm. I love spending time on the farm, but because of my recent injury I can’t do all the fun stuff I normally enjoy. Sigh.

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Farm

So instead of tagging along with Mom and Blitz and Boomer when they trailered out to ride in the Laurels Preserve I had to wait at the farm in the tack room until they came back.

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Farm

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Farm

Lucky for me my pal Trooper stayed to keep me company. He looks thrilled doesn’t he?

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Farm

We ended up getting to play on the farm late into the wee hours of the night, which is always a treat.

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Farm

So late in fact that when darkness settled around us we broke out our Glowdoggie LED Collars.

Ammo the Dachshund // On the Farm

However, I was quite disappointed when mom told me that Trooper and I couldn’t play lightsabers on account of my boo boo. Sigh. How much longer do I have to sit on the bench? Ammo the Dachshund

Even Heroes aren’t Invincible

Yes, it’s true, I may be a super hero but even heroes have accidents and over the weekend I had a little accident myself on the farm. See I was having a grand time playing chase with my pal Trooper when something punctured my side. I’m not sure if it was Trooper’s claw, or perhaps a fence board – on account of I was running way too fast to know for sure.

Ammo the Dachshund gets a boo boo

Regardless it definitely hurt!

Ammo the Dachshund gets a boo boo

Dad brought some medical supplies from home out to the farm so I could get my boo boo doctored up (on account of it was Sunday and my vet’s office wasn’t  open…not to mention it wasn’t a “medical emergency” per say….I’m a pretty tough dude).

Ammo the Dachshund gets a boo boo

I tried to be brave while I was bandaged up, but I was more upset that fun time with Trooper for the day was over.

Ammo the Dachshund gets a boo boo

I had to spend the rest of my day resting quietly in the car while mom did the farmwork without me, but upon returning home activities resumed pretty much as normal – even if I did look like I was a victim of a magician’s saw act gone wrong.

Mom says we’ll be taking a trip to the vet today, just to be sure my wound is healing properly…..my paws are crossed they still let me go to agility this afternoon. I can’t wait to tell my agility friends about my battle wound!

I’ll be sure to update all my fans on my facebook page as to the status of my Dr’s visit, but have no fear, I’m sure I’ll be back to my regular adventures in no time!

UPDATE: The vet checked me over, and I didn’t even need stitches! Apparently super heroes are super awesome at healing themselves, and I even got to attend my agility class!Ammo the Dachshund
