Birthday Treats

I know what you’re thinking…..and no you can’t have any.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I went to my Aunt Sarah’s Birthday Party over the weekend.

I even gave the sad puppy eyes.

And wouldn’t you know they let my cousin help blow out the candles instead of me! Uncool! Just Uncool!

Aunt Laurel, who’s birthday is today, you BETTER share some Birthday cake with me!

Friend’s House

Occasionally I take a break from my busy work schedule to visit friends. Case-in-point, on Saturday I got to hang out at a friends house. We ate popcorn and watched Star Trek.

And I made myself right at home!

I just wish they had a little doggie friend for me to play with (hint hint)….I promise I’d teach him the ways of the World. Just look at my sad puppy eyes. Sigh. Maybe someday. A boy can wish!

Trooper

I know this blog is usually all about me….it is my blog afterall….but today I thought I’d let my best friend, Trooper, brighten your day a little instead of me! He’s pretty cute I guess (but not as cute as me). I mean just check out these videos of him as a puppy…..boy do I wish I was around then! He was totally my size!

Painters wear Berrets

Ok so I know everyone is probably DYING to know how my performance went over the weekend (check out my facebook page for an update as to whether or not I won the contest). I PROMISE I will tell you EVERYTHING that happened during my trip…..but……seeing as how I knew I’d be zonked when I got home, I wrote this little post ahead of time so I’d be able to rest a little on Monday.

So you might have to wait another day, but don’t worry, I’ll have lots of pictures and adventures to share soon.

Now for today’s post…..

Right before my big trip, mom and I decided that I needed a little extra prop. And seeing as how I’m a super talented artist – it seemed fitting that I get my own Painters Berret. Afterall, all the cool artists have them.

So mom helped me fashion a piece of an old horse polo wrap into a super stylish berret for me. What do you think?

FYI it was really late and I was super tired. I’ll have to do a better photoshoot with my berret once I’m more awake. You can bet this is what I’m doing today as well, as I recover from my busy weekend.

On the Road Again

While you’re reading this, I’m on my way to Doswell, Virginia for the weekend with my pal Minnow! Minnow and I are competing in a talent competition at the Equine Extravaganza.

I’m a little bit nervous, but I’ve been practicing a lot, so I’m super excited to show everyone what I can do!

A few years back a mule named Gracie won the talent contest. Gracie went on to star in a movie and even made a few TV appearances after winning the contest. Pretty cool, huh?

Now I don’t know about being a TV star, but I do know I can’t wait to make everyone laugh! Laughter is the best part about being a performing Dachshund. Well and the treats, lets not forget the treats.

I really like to look out into the audience and see lots of smiling faces! That’s why sometimes I like to add-lib in my performances. Les you forget when I stole the show away from my friend Minnow the Pony this summer during a performance in Virginia – where I decided to dig a GIANT hole in the arena while Minnow was doing his tricks!

Sneaky I know, but when the crowd burst out laughing…..it was totally worth it. Minnow forgave me later, we always kiss and make up.

So since I totally enjoy making everyone smile – I thought I’d share a little video of Me and Minnow practicing for our big show. It’s not the finished product – which I will be sure to tell you all about when I get back – but I think it should hold you till I get back!

P.S. You better be laughing!

Halloween Mullet

I know you all are DYING to know what I’m going to be for Halloween. Me too!

See the things is, I’ve been so busy getting ready for my big performance this weekend that I forgot to get a new Halloween costume. I know, the horror! So I decided to dig through our box of Halloween goodies instead.

I didn’t get very far before I discovered my Dad’s Mullet wig from when he dressed up as Joe Dirt in college. I mean just look how cool he looked in it…..

Dad as Joe Dirt & Mom as “the bride” in Kill Bill

Except when I tried on the mullet wig I looked more like this…..

Yeah I know, it kinda lost the “mullet effect”.

I think I look more like a lion than a dude with a mullet.

So with my mullet idea shot, I was back to square one with the costume hunt. But then I remembered I had my costume from last year!

It’s my Dragon costume!! (or I guess Dinosaur however you look at it)

I must have bulked up my muscles since last year, because I don’t remember my dragon shirt being quite so tight….

Although I kinda like the skin-tight look…..how else am I supposed to show off my guns?

or maybe…….

I could be a Dragon with a Mullet!!?

ugh, you’re right….still looks like half lion half Dragon, but it could work? I look fierce!

Scratch that. I just look like a tool.

Maybe I’ll just have to enjoy Halloween in the costume I was born with this year…..

My BIRTHDAY SUIT!

You know you want a hug from a naked Dachshund!! I’m super cute! wink wink

So in conclusion…..I still don’t know what I’m being for Halloween….I guess you will have to wait until the big day to find out! Perhaps I’ll get lucky and find something worthy of being worn by a Super Doxie at the Horse Expo this weekend. You never know!

Jersey

I should get to be on the cast of Jersey Shore! I bet I could start some awesome “dog fights” with my reality cast members….I know you’d watch it! I just need a really cool nick name like “A-Dog” or “TheBullet”.

Here’s a little look back at my first (and only thus far) trip to the Jersey Shore with my pal Trooper. I was bummed it wasn’t sunny and warm – instead rainy and cold – but that didn’t stop me and Trooper from having a blast!

I’ll keep you posted on any upcoming tv offers to appear on Jersey Shore. 🙂

Nap Time

Napping. It’s one of a dog’s favorite pastimes, well aside from hunting groundhogs, and it’s one of my favorites too.

Napping is an art though. Despite my ability to drift into la la land pretty easily, there are definitely some things that make nap time that much more enjoyable.

#1 Darkness. If the light switch is not easily accessible than this can also be achieved by burrowing inside blankets, between couch cushions, and under furniture.

#2 More Cushion. Who wants to lay on a wood floor? Definitely not this guy. Dog beds and couches are fine, but if you really want a cushy place to lay your head, check out the ‘rents bed. Trust me, it’s way better.

#3 Lulling Sounds. If you think someone is going to play soft soothing music for you, you are mistaken. If you can figure out how to turn the radio on than high five to you otherwise you might have to make your own noise so someone else will turn it on to drown you out.

#4 Bring a Friend. Napping alone is no fun. Having a pal to lay next to you and keep you warm is just the icing on the cake! So always always always bring a napping pal.

#5 Be adaptable. Sometimes the best snooze spot in the house is taken. You need to be able to get comfy anywhere – try sleeping on your back, upside down, or even curled in a ball. You’d be surprised just how comfy you can get.

#6 Look Adorable. The more adorable you look when you are sleeping, the less likely it is that someone will wake you up. If your people start taking pictures while you are sleeping, then you are golden, there is a zero chance they will wake you up for anything for the next few hours. Keep up the good work.

#7 Have sweet dreams. Nobody likes nightmares. So make sure you think happy thoughts before you fall asleep – this will ensure that you only dream of chasing bunnies, rolling in stinky stuff, and eating the biggest rawhide bone. Don’t worry if you startle yourself awake with high pitched cries or flailing limps – this is all part of your dream.

#8 Watch the time. As much as napping is fun, it can’t last forever. Don’t nap your day away, you will miss out on some awesome adventures. Wearing your cape during naptime is a good idea, then you are always ready for the action at hand!

sweet dreams my friend.

Art & A Movie

It’s Saturday, so I thought I’d give you a little something to smile about.

First up we have a video featuring me.

Yeah my bone got cooties. No one wants to touch a bone with cooties…you might catch them!

Next up I’ve got a new little artwork that I just made! I was testing out a new “classic” Dachshund shape, what do you think?

“White Dachshund No.7”

This masterpiece is now available in my online shop! Yipee! I really like him!

I hope I made you smile today!

It’s my Birthday

It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to, cry if I want to.

Ok well I didn’t really cry…..instead I jumped for joy, because yesterday was my Birthday and I got lots of fun presents! I didn’t know what to play with first!

Yeah seriously, this is something from a dream….I mean a GIANT tennis ball, how cool is that!

Flying Squirrel…oh boy!

And a gift from my bestest friend, Trooper, thanks pal! I’ll TRY to save you a bone.
