I couldn’t decide what I wanted mom to bake me for my Birthday, so I decided to round-up some of my favorite dog treat recipes on the web right now.
My paws are crossed that mom will bake me one of these this weekend, because when your Birthday is on a Friday you get to extend it into a Birthday Weekend – it’s a rule!
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease cookie sheets. Blend flour and cornmeal in large mixing bowl, then incorporate apple, egg, oil, brown sugar, and water until well blended. Flour your workspace and roll out dough to desired thickness. Cut cookies to desired shape and size. Place dog cookies on baking sheet and bake 35 minutes. After baking, turn oven off and leave cookies inside for another 30-45 minutes until crisp. Allow to cool and store in an air-tight container.
Directions: Preheat oven to 350. Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add wet ingredients and mix until well blended. Knead into a ball and roll out on wax paper to 1/2″ thickness. Using cookie cutters cut out cookies and place on an unlined baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Store in an air-tight container.
Directions: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, lightly spraying a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray and sprinkling a little flour onto the surface you’re planning to use to roll out the dough. In a medium bowl, mash up the banana and mix in the shredded carrots. Then add water and apple juice. Stir. Next, add the oats and flour. Stir all of the ingredients together until they are thoroughly combined.
Using your hands, knead the mixture until a dough forms. Dump the dough onto the lightly floured surface that you prepared earlier. Roll it out until it’s about a half inch thick. Using a cookie cutter, cut into 3″ pieces. Place the pieces onto your lightly sprayed baking sheet. Bake the dog treats for 25 minutes.
Before “serving”, let them cool completely. Here’s a tip that you may find useful: If your dog likes a little more crunch to his treats, then turn off the oven and let the treats cool there overnight.
My 4th Birthday is coming up this Friday (October 5th), and I’ve decided to make it a week long celebration just like last year! I hope you will hang around for all the fun, we’ll have giveaways, DIY projects, free downloads and so much more!
We’re going to kick things off with a good old fashioned wish list! So without further adieu, here’s all the items I’ve been lusting after lately.
Ok I admit it, bath time isn’t my number one favorite thing to do. But I do very much enjoy the after bath cookies! Regardless of the fact that I’d rather be rolling in the mud than in a tub, I can totally appreciate the pampering products from M&J Dog Essentials.
M&J Essentials is based in Chicago and contains all-natural ingredients and fragrances that are free of sulfates, parabens and other potentially harmful chemicals.
The only thing that would make this product better…..if their logo had dachshunds on it instead! But I won’t hold it against them.
You can fetch your own all-natural dog grooming products from M&J Dog Essentials.
Yesterday I took a trip to Wyebrook Farm in Honeybrook, PA.
I’ve been to many farms before – but mom told me this one was a little bit different.
From their website:
At Wyebrook Farm, we provide an alternative to the industrial food supply. By creating a diverse polyculture on our farm, we produce the healthiest animals and best food without the use of artificial fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, hormones or antibiotics.
We believe that the only way to guarantee that the food you eat is healthy, safe and nutritious is to know the farmer who produced it. We sell the products of the farm from a historic barn on the farm so that our customers can see our animals and our farming practices. We encourage you to tour the farm and ask us questions. By purchasing food from Wyebrook Farm, you support the local community and ensure that this part of Chester County retains the agricultural character that has made it one of the most productive and beautiful places in America.
At Wyebrook Farm they have a cafe that is open on the weekends as well as a market that sells their farm raised meats and veggies.
The food was delicious, but I was really excited to take a tour of the farm.
I met some really cute chicks along the way.
I even got to meet this portly fellow – who despite looking somewhat friendly, scared the bejeezes out of me!
It ended up being a really fun day – and we even stopped for ice cream on the way home! I have no doubt I’ll be back again, and next time I’ll work up the courage to tell that pig who’s boss.
It’s official, my mom is back from her trip to Chincoteague Island, Virginia with my pal Minnow the Painting Pony! Mom and Minnow travel to the island once a year for the annual Chincoteague Pony Penning Week. During the last week in July the wild ponies of Assateague are rounded up, swum over to Chincoteague, and then many of the new foals are auctioned off to keep the wild herd at a manageable number.
While the swim and auction are exciting (or so I hear since I’ve never been), Minnow is there to Paint and Perform every evening at the Chincoteague Pony Centre . I hear he draws quite a crowd.
Sadly the town of Chincoteague is quite pony friendly – but not quite as dog friendly. Dogs aren’t allowed in any of the hotels, and not even in the only park on the island. So each year I spend the week at home with my dad, counting the days until mom returns.
Even though the island doesn’t welcome us pooches with open arms there is one thing I thoroughly enjoy about mom visiting the island without me…..her trip to the dog and pony bakery called Howl Naturale.
Mom brought me home two natural dog cookies this time, one in the shape of a pony and the other looked like a lucky horse shoe.
These tasty treats maybe, just maybe, make up for the fact that mom left me home all week.
You can fetch your own tasty treats from Howl Naturale online HERE. Also make sure you check out all the neat photos my mom took from the Chincoteague Pony Swim and Auction HERE, they make me feel like I was there with them!
It’s no secret that I love to shop (who doesn’t?), and I’m always so excited when I find a super cool new product or shop.
Recently Target stores across the country launched The Shops, which is a collection of products from local boutique stores like Cos Bar, Privet House, The Candy Store, The Webster, and my personal favorite The Polka Dog Bakery. So just like any good dog mom, my mom headed to Target yesterday to check it out for me while I waited in the car (since sadly I couldn’t sneak in myself). Each store varies in their merchandise, but you can check out most of their collection online.
Of course just scoping out the new products isn’t enough – you have to physically test the merchandise!
So mom came home with a Dog Toy and a box of cookies for me to try.
If you can’t tell by the look on my face, it was a glorious day!
My ice cream sandwich may have not tasted like the real thing, but it was fantastic just the same.
Not only did it squeak, but it was filled with stuffing too!
I eventually broke a hole in my ice cream sandwich, so it doesn’t squeak anymore – but it’s still just as fun to play with. Plus, mom says I look super adorable when I nibble on it.
Later mom let me snack on some of the Polka Dog Bakery treats, which were an all-natural chicken flavor.
They get an A++ from me for yumminess! In fact, I’m so in love with my Polka Dog Bakery items that I’m already trying to convince mom to raid all of the Target’s in my area for more fun items from the collection.
Anyone else spot fun items from The Polka Dog Bakery at their local Target? You can post your finds on my Facebook page so we can all drool over their fabulous items!
P.S. Dear Target & The Polka Dog Bakery, if you are reading this, I am more than happy to test all of your merchandise! It would be a big time commitment, but I’m willing to dedicate myself to the cause! 😉
Disclaimer: First image found on the Target Website. I was not paid or perked to write this post, I simply found the Polka Dog Bakery items simply irresistible. You can connect with The Polka Dog Bakery via their Facebook Page, Blog and Website too.
After my recent run-in with my best friend Trooper (who decided my head looked like a fire hydrant), it got me thinking about bath time products. Good Clean Dog has a line of all natural cleaning products that are safe for dogs with sensitive skin. And while I don’t specifically have sensitive skin, it can’t hurt to make sure I have only the best natural products being put on my beautiful red hair!
You can fetch your own natural dog care products at Good Clean Dog.
Pie. That word makes my stomach growl. With flavors like Banana Nut Brownie, Deep Dish Pizza, and Carob Peanut Butter – how can you not LONG for a Pup-Pie from The Lazy Dog Cookie Company?
All of their treat recipes are licensed, independently tested, and veterinarian approved. And they claim to carry the healthiest of any decorated style treat available on the market.
Can you say Yum? I know what cake I’m asking for come October when I turn 3!
