My sunshine doesn’t come from the skies, It comes from the love in my little girl’s eyes.
Best Buds Forever.
Today is a very special day. No I didn’t get a new puppy sibling, this adorable picture is of my best pal Trooper when he was just a wee pup! And today is his 10th Birthday!!! Can you believe it?
Trooper is my oldest friend, and the very first dog I met when my parent’s adopted me. He’s taken care of me since day 1 and I’m so lucky to have him in my life.
Over the years Trooper and I have shared pretty much everything. From apples…
…to adventures….
….and the occasional kiss.
But I do draw the line at sharing my treats with him. Sorry Bud.
A very very Happy 10th Birthday with my Best Friend!
I’ll even let you win at our wrestling matches today. (only because you’re 10)
xoxo,
Disclaimer: This post is brought to you by The Honest Kitchen. I received product in exchange for a review. But don’t worry, I only share products I think you and your pets will love, not to mention it’s a healthy food I eat myself on a daily basis.
If you’ve been following my adventures for a while now, then you probably know that I’m a big fan of the dehydrated raw pet food company, The Honest Kitchen. I’ve been eating their recipes for years now, and it still totally gets my tail wagging.
So when they came out with a new product I couldn’t wait to test it out! Their new single serve cups are exactly what I needed for my busy lifestyle.
These cups come in several bestselling recipes Force, Love and Embark and make 12oz of food, the same as a can of dog food would!
All you have to do is add water to the cup and then serve to your dog. One cup can be served per 20lbs of body weight.
Mom loves these to-go cups because she no longer has to measure out my food in the morning into a tavel bag in the event we won’t be home for dinner (which happens a lot). Instead she just grabs one of The Honest Kitchen’s cups and we’re out the door.
So when I find myself on the farm for a late night dinner – mom’s always prepared with my favorite foods. Since I tend to not need as much food as most companies recommend for a dog my size – I only eat 1/2 a cup at each meal.
And even when mom inevitably forgets my dog bowl too, the cup doubles as one as well!
These cups are sold in select stores only, find out if your local store carries them.
And if you’d like to give The Honest Kitchen Food a try for your dog, you can snag a FREE SAMPLE BUNDLE (discount applied at checkout)
It’s Fri-Yay! And today I leave you with something to make you smile for the rest of the weekend. Well, mom says it makes her smile – personally it makes me wish I was outside rolling in a pile of stink instead of sitting in a bubble bath with my sister. To each his own.
At least one of us is enjoying it.
Happy Fri-yay!
Now that I’m a big brother it’s my duty to teach Baby P all the important stuff. #1 on the life lesson list, how to dig a proper hole.
As you can see, Baby P was super excited to learn this life lesson. That’s my girl, she totally gets it. You just never know when you’re going to need to dig something, so always come prepared with those two little shovels on the bottom of your arms!
Dirt filled baths, and dirty finger nails are totally in our future.
Up next, how to navigate to the critters in the woods. We’ve got a whole lot of life lessons to get through this summer, so we better get started!
What other life lessons do you think I should teach Baby P?
April’s showers will hopefully be bringing the May flowers! While my April had some wonderfully warm days it’s also been filled with lots of rain too. While the rain usually puts a damper on all my outdoor fun I was still able to pack in plenty of fun things to do this past month!
Before we get to my adventures though, let me give a shoutout to my special sponsors & affiliates! Thanks to them I’m able to bring you exciting posts, so make sure you give them some love and check out what great products they carry!

And now onto my April Adventures..
I shared some of the fun times my sister and I have been having lately.
I hosted a Giveaway for dog toys that helps widows and orphans.
I celebrated 8 months with my little sis.
I went to visit the Easter Bunny.
I spent Easter at home with my family.
I tested the new Ruffwear Commuter Pack, and there is still time to ENTER MY GIVEAWAY for one too!
I took a trip to the Beach.
I shared some of the fun products I’m currently digging.
And that brings us to May! I’m looking forward to more and more outdoor activities as the weather continues to get even nicer!
What sort of adventures has your dog had this past month?
Because everyone knows I’ve got the best taste out of all the dogs out there (they’re all super jelly) I’ve rounded up some of my favorite things this week.
*This is not a sponsored post, but does include some affiliate links. But don’t worry, I would only share products I am truly passionate about!
Here’s what I’m digging this week:
Mom actually purchased this item, the GoGo Stik for me off of Amazon just before Easter. What is it? Well it’s a handy tool for my parents to use to pick up my poo! You can use any plastic bag with it (grocery bags work great) and it makes it easy for the ‘rents to pick up my mess in the back yard with one hand (while holding the baby with the other). They’ve already used it a few times now and think it’s fantastic!
Baby P just got this silicone placemat from Amazon. I like it because it’s got a cute dog shape, which is of course P’s favorite animal, and mom likes it because it suctions (really well) to her high chair which helps keep the food from falling on the floor. (don’t worry, she still throws plenty of treats my way!).
Several months ago I got to test out a new food called The Farmer’s Dog (which I totally forgot to tell you about until now). Not only did I dig the name, but I dug the food too. Fresh cooked food gets delivered to your door for your pet, the bulk of which you freeze for later. I scarfed up all the goodness for several weeks and while I loved the food it was a little difficult for my lifestyle since I tend to eat my food on the go a lot (and this stuff needs to stay in the fridge or freezer). But for dogs that don’t have that problem it’s a great healthy option that as a bonus requires no additional work for your humans!
*full disclosure, I did receive a free sample to test out, but I wouldn’t be telling you about it if I didn’t think it was good for your dogs too.
Suddenly I’ve realized this entire post has turned into a roundup for eating and pooping products…..which also pretty much sums up my life. 😉
What sort of items are you digging this week? Anything you think I should check out?
A few weeks ago I went on a fun day trip with my family. We packed up Baby P, Mom, Dad, my Nannie & Opa, my ponies and my best pal Trooper for a day at the beach!
When we got there the ponies set off on a ride along the beach while I stayed behind to help keep an eye on Baby P.
Only little did I know that I would end up tied to a tether in the sand because Dad said “I can’t keep an eye on both roaming munchkins”. (We all know he’s just not as good at multi-tasking as mom) ….Love ya Dad, but it’s true!
Baby P came to my rescue though and tried as hard as she could to free me. Alas, it was just not meant to be this time.
That’s ok though, a beach day is still a beach day and I used the opportunity to get some sun and some R&R.
After my ponies returned from their ride I knew they were ready for something else too…
….a nice relaxing nap in the sand!
Boomerang totally knows how to do a Beach Day if you ask me!
What would your dog enjoy most about a Beach Day?
Disclaimer: this post and giveaway are brought to you by Ruffwear, all opinions are my own and I only share products I think you and your pets will love.
I bet you’re wondering what this fancy schmancy get-up I’ve got going on here is. Well my friends, it’s my new dog pack from my pals at Ruffwear!
The Ruffwear Commuter pack is a rucksack for us dogs with a clean modern look. So it fits right in on the hiking trail or the urban commute.
It comes in sizes for all dogs and is easy to strap on so you can get out the door in a flash!
With lots of pockets for all your gear it’s the perfect way to give your dog a job no matter where you’re headed.
It’s important to remember not to overload your pack, and according to Cesar Milan 10 -12% of your dog’s weight is a good starting point. And remember all dogs are different and if you are unsure start by getting the okay from your vet.
Since us Dachshunds are prone to back issues my pack is always very light weight and balanced on both sides. Sometimes I even just carry it empty, because I still feel like I have an important job to do with it on!
I always dream of carrying around some delicious treats, because if you’re going to wear pockets on your back, then you might as well make sure they are stuffed with food!
In reality though, most of the time it’s filled with diapers and baby gear. Sigh.
Even if my Commuter Pack is filled with baby stuff, I still look super business-like when I head through town to work. And no one even knows what I’ve got packed inside, and if they ask, I just tell them it’s important business things.
The Ruffwear Commuter Pack comes in two colors, Cloudburst Gray (which I’m wearing) and Larkspur Purple.
As an added bonus, I feel like my new rucksack makes me look extra tough and strong. I’ve been telling all the ladies that I’m carrying 20lb weights in them (shhh! it’s our secret).
And I even look sweet from behind!
So if you’re looking for a great way to make your dog feel important with a job to do, then you might want to check out the Commuter Pack from Ruffwear. As with all of their gear I can’t recommend it enough, and their products truly do hold up year after year.
And now for the best part…

Ok, so I know the last time I mentioned the Easter Bunny I gave him a really hard time for sneaking into my house at night and leaving chocolate goodies I couldn’t even eat. Not to mention I wasn’t even allowed to bite him or bark at him!
But I guess Mr. Easter Bunny heard me loud and clear, because he really tried to win me over this year.
Not only did he bring my sister a whole bunch of fun toys (non-chocolate I might add), that I may or may not have opened for her…
…but he also brought me some fun toys too. He has good taste too, because he shops at my favorite store, The Barkshop*.

So yeah, that Bunny, I guess he’s not so bad.
I was actually a little disappointed once my basket was empty. But when one door closes, another opens.
And that door brought my Nannie & Opa (and my MomMom, PopPop, cousins, aunts and uncles too!), who also brought me presents!!
I’m one lucky dog!
My Easter fun didn’t end there though, it was time for the annual egg hunt, and since this year was my sister’s first time I had to teach her how it was done.
She actually didn’t do too poorly, but it’s probably because she had a pretty awesome teacher.
Well, that about sums up my Easter, and as you can see Baby P and I are now totally on team Easter Bunny!
But, just FYI Bunny, Baby P and I won’t hesitate to use stink faces on you should you bring us icky presents next year. 😉
The End.
P.S. For once I’m not the one that can’t sit still for a photograph.
