Winter Storm Stella

Winter Storm Stella

Finally! Yesterday I got to have a true Snow Day! Which means I didn’t have to go to work, and I got to spend the day playing with my family in the snow.

Winter Storm Stella

This was Baby P’s first big snow, and I was so excited to show her exactly what to do on a snow day.

My Spring To-Do List

With Spring just around the corner (it’s in the 70’s today…that’s crazy!) I realized I better get  to work creating my Spring To-Do List. Because there is soooo much to do to be ready for Spring.

Ammo’s Spring To-Do List:

Ammo the Dachshund's Vegetable Garden

#1: Get dirt for mom’s vegetable garden. I never pass up the opportunity to play in a big pile of dirt. Bonus if its from the mushroom farm, because then I know it’s extra stinky.

Gardening with Ammo the Dachshund

#2: Help Dad rebuild the ramp to my shed. Which basically means that I get to take some more trips to my favorite hardware store…yippee!

Gardening with Ammo the Dachshund

#3: Help mom pick out plants for the vegetable garden. This time I’m hoping she plants corn, because that’s my favorite!

#4: Locate all the new critter holes around my home, so I’ll know just where to dig when the warm weather hits.

Frolicking on the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

#5: Help out with maintenance around the farm. (Also know as digging holes for fence posts)

ammo and trooper digging hole

#6: Widen all the openings to the ground hog holes on the farm (after hibernation I’m sure those ground hogs are gonna be extra fat and extra stuck)

Stink Happens // Dirty Dog // Ammo the Dachshund

#7: Roll in the stinkiest stuff I can find. Because when Spring hits I want to be able to blend right into my surroundings.

ammo the dachshund morning on the farm

#8: Scratch my back in the grass. It’s just not the same in the winter!

ammo the dachshund university of delaware graduation party

#9: Take a nap outside WITHOUT a coat on!

Spring Bath // Ammo the Dachshund

#10: Rub my after-bath fur all over the house. Because after all those dirt related things I’m sure mom is going to make me take a bath!

Pop’n Tags at the Thrift Store

Pop'n Tags at the Thrift Store

Just like my boy Macklemore my mom has been hitting up the local thrift store with only 20 dollars in her pocket in search of some hidden gems.

Pop'n Tags at the Thrift Store

She’s been coming home from the local Goodwill with all kinds of cool finds for my sister. Those dog pjs are super cute I have to admit. Honestly though, I was starting to feel a little left out.

Pop'n Tags at the Thrift Store

I probably shouldn’t have spoke too soon, because before I knew it mom had popped two dog hats out of her bag that she had picked up just for me. Sigh, I knew where this was going….

Pop'n Tags at the Thrift Store

Yup, before I could bark in protest it was a full blown dress-up session!

Pop'n Tags at the Thrift Store

Eh, who am I kidding. I totally love to play dress-up….especially since I look so awesome in this hat!

Pop'n Tags at the Thrift Store

I might not look as cool in this one, but at least my head will be warm the next time it snows! (And yes, I’m rooting for snow at least once more this winter, because otherwise I won’t get to try out my new sled!)

Pop'n Tags at the Thrift Store

I’m pretty sure Baby P is chomping at the bit to play Dress-up with me. Soon, very soon, and in the meantime I’m more than happy to practice in my ninety-nine cent hat! And in the words of Macklemore….

Heigh-Ho Heigh-Ho

The Big Secret Ammo the Dachshund's Been Hiding

Now that I’m the coolest big brother ever, it’s come to my attention that to be EVEN cooler (if that’s even possible), that I need to practice my “nursery rhymes”. My sister likes when I “sing” to her, and she likes it even more when I dig holes. Well, this is perfect, because I have just the song to sing her in preparation of Spring (aka Groundhog season).

These Paws were Made for Digging // Ammo the Dachshund

Heigh-Ho
A “Cooler” Version by Ammo

I dig dig dig dig dig dig dig in my hole the whole day through
To dig dig dig dig dig dig dig is what I really like to do
It ain’t no trick to get groundhogs quick
If you dig dig dig with a paw or a pick
In a hole! In a hole! In a hole! In a hole!
Where a million groundhogs live!
I dig dig dig dig dig dig dig from early morn till night
I dig dig dig dig dig dig dig up everything in sight
I dig up groundhogs by the score
A thousand critters, sometimes more
But I don’t know what I dig ’em for
I dig dig dig a-dig dig
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho

Much better than the original song, right?

From Couch to Couch – Is Your Dog Getting Enough Exercise?

Disclaimer: this post is brought to you by Pod Trackers. All opinions are my own, and I only share products I think you and your dog(s) will love.

Oh The Places You Sleep: Vol. 7 with Ammo the Dachshund

Oh the Places You Sleep // Ammo the Dachshund - Dog - Nap

So I’m the first to admit that I’m no stranger to couch snoozing. I know where to find the perfect spot at anytime, and I have no problems sinking myself into one whenever I feel like it.

As cute and cuddly as I look (I know, I’m just so stinkin’ adorable), it got me thinking….when is too much napping too much? (as if that’s a thing!)

Well my friends, after a little googling (on the couch no less), I discovered that according to an article I found on PetMD the average dog should be getting about 30 minutes of rigorous exercise (or play) along with 1-2 hours of daily activity.

So how am I supposed to tell if my romps on the farm are enough?

From Couch to Couch - How to tell if your dog is getting enough exercise with Pod Tracker

Well, as luck would have it, my friends at Pod Tracker have a kickstarter going for their Pod 3 – the customizable GPS tracker for everything in your life, including your dog!

From Couch to Couch - How to tell if your dog is getting enough exercise with Pod Tracker

Now I know what you’re thinking, how is a GPS tracker going to tell me how much exercise I’m getting? Well, one of the super cool features of the Pod is that it also has an Activity Monitor. That’s right, you can monitor your dogs activity or set up sensor alerts and even detect unusual activity right from your smart phone.

From Couch to Couch - How to tell if your dog is getting enough exercise with Pod Tracker

So not only is your pet’s activity being monitored, but you can also set up geofences to be notified if your pet leaves a specific area, and you can even record and share your pets adventures.

From Couch to Couch - How to tell if your dog is getting enough exercise with Pod Tracker

Their Kickstarter campaign for the new Pod 3 is already fully funded, but there are still a few days left for you to jump on board and get your pet one of the newest models at an introductory price. The cool thing about the new Pod 3 is it now has various add-ons such as sound, light, ultrasonic speaker (hello bark control), XL battery and permanent power dock. You can head on over to their campaign to find out more details on their new upgrades!

From Couch to Couch - How to tell if your dog is getting enough exercise with Pod Tracker

So just how did I do with my activity levels for my first day of tracking it? Well as you can see by bedtime I had exceeded my walking goal (what can I say, I’m an active guy), and I was pretty close to my rest goal (we all need naps). But 9 minutes of play? That’s sad. Really sad.

From Couch to Couch - How to tell if your dog is getting enough exercise with Pod Tracker

Well, there’s really only one thing to do about that.

Which one of my adventures was your favorite this month?Ammo the Dachshund // Blog Signature // Celebrity

American Barn Warrior

Thanksgiving Roadtrip: Folly Beach Dogs

I like to think I’m a pretty fit dog. I mean I exercise regularly, I try to eat a healthy meal (aside from that 1/2 a hoagie I stole off the dining room table the other day….but that hardly counts), and I’m always ready for fun adventures!

So when I recently caught sight of the TV show, American Ninja Warrior, I was totally hooked! I mean I could EASILY get through those tough obstacle courses.

American Ninja Warrior

Half the battle is having flair anyway, and I totally have that covered!

Unfortunately American Ninja Warrior doesn’t accept dog submissions. But, that wasn’t going to stop me from having a little fun of my own, because I invented AMERICAN BARN WARRIOR….

American Barn Warrior

Just as challenging, and with equal amounts of flair, American Barn Warrior is going to be the next big thing.

American Barn Warrior

Hay Bale obstacles, trenches, and perhaps a horse or two….it’s not for the faint of heart (or those of you who didn’t eat your wheaties today!).

So what do you think, are you up for the challenge? Do you think you could master my American Barn Warrior Challenge? Ammo the Dachshund // Blog Signature // Celebrity

Dog Toy or Baby Toy

Dog Toy or Baby Toy

Ever since Baby P showed up at my house the toy situation has gotten a little confusing. As in, how am I supposed to tell the difference between a baby toy and dog toy? That’s where you come in!

Dog Toy or Baby Toy

Can you help me decipher which one of these fine toys are dog toys and which are baby toys?

I loose sleep over this. Did I chew on Baby P’s favorite stuffed animal or did I bury the correct ball in the back yard? It’s enough to make you crazy!

Once you’ve made your guesses scroll on down to the bottom of the page to see if you got it right…..
