As you know, I have a whole slew of talents – many of which I document on this blog and one of which is PAINTING! I like to think of myself as a mini Picasso, and while I don’t technically wield a paintbrush – my paws are just oozing with talent! Just check out this video of me painting at the Spring Doxie Fest this year:
Now I know what you might be thinking, “but where can I buy these fabulous paintings that you made” – have no fear, I’ve recently added several of my creations to the Painting Pony Etsy Shop!
So if you’re looking for something spiffy and colorful to spruce up your walls this Spring then head on over to the Painting Pony Etsy Shop and check out some of my latest work!
And don’t forget, I donate a portion of my proceeds to my favorite animal rescues – so by purchasing a painting you get to help some animals in need! Double win!
When I spotted this Chalkboard Dog Bowl over on Waggo I just knew I had to have it! Only when I asked mom if I could purchase it, she suggested why not DIY it? Oh but of course!
Chalkboard Spraypaint (I also had a can of this on hand) $5
Step 1: Using the frog tape, tape off the portion of your bowl that you do not want to have chalkboard paint on it. You may need some help from someone who doesn’t have paws!
Step 2: Using even coats, spray your bowl with chalkboard paint. You may also need some help to get the cap off your spray paint.
Once your bowl is completely dry it will be ready to write on with chalk! You may want to prep the surface first by applying a coat of chalk evenly across the entire bowl and erasing it before writing on it.
Of course any dog bowl is much much better with food in it!
Yum! Everything tastes better in my trendy Chalkboard Food Bowl!
As most of you know I was invited to paint and perform at the 2013 Spring Doxie Fest to benefit the Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue. I love to support animal rescues, so I jumped at the chance to show off my stuff!
So I packed up my car with lots of goodies for my booth, and brought along all of my trick gear for my big performance. (you can always shop online with me HERE).
When it came time to perform I was excited to show everyone what I had been practicing. I love to learn and doing tricks with my mom is one of my favoritiest things in the whole wide world.
I kicked off my big performance by finishing up a painting I had started earlier in the week…..afterall you can’t rush talent!
Then it was off to my phone booth for a quick costume change, of course everyone giggled when my Super Undies went on display for the world to see. I’m still blushing. But Super Ammo had a job to do, and I wasn’t going to let a little embarrassment stop me!
Eventually I had to break out my super helmet for some of the more dangerous tricks. Safety first.
After all that performing I was ready to meet my fans!
By then I was pretty tired, but my day wasn’t over yet, because I had to judge some of the contests like best kisser, best tail wag, best costume, and best trick.
I even got to meet a cool doxie named Harry who had a knack for playing golf! (I chose him as the winner of best trick by the way).
Incase you missed my big performance at the Doxie Fest, below is a quick highlight video I made. And if you want to see some more of my amazing tricks you can check out the SUPER PONY DVD that I made with my favorite trick ponies HERE.
At the end of the day I was so excited that so many of you came out to watch me perform and meet me, and most importantly support a great rescue like the Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue.
During one of my recent internet browsing excursions I happened upon the Free People Pet Project. A collection of stylish pet items and accessories from Free People, these items are simply to die for! I’m particularly in love with their poncho’s and tipis!
Does this not look just like my best friend Trooper!?
You can fetch these fine items and more from the Free People Pet Project Collection HERE.
You might remember a few weeks ago when the fine folks over at CafePress offered up a giveaway to one of my lucky readers. Well they also offered me a chance to take some of their custom products for a spin too – so I’m back to share with you just what I ordered.
With the help of my personal designers (mom and dad) I used the Cafepress design tool and uploaded my logo for the pet tag and buttons. You can opt to upload an image or enter you own text and shapes with their design tools. I decided not to make my tag an “identification tag”, but instead just a little something something to add bling to my super hero outfit when I perform.
After uploading my designs for each item I checked them to make sure they would look right and not be cut off at all on the products.
Then a few short days later my custom items arrived in the mail! Yippee!
The pet tag came with a tiny clasp on it, but my hefty collar from Mattie & Margot was a bit too large for it to fit on. This was easily remedied with a Rubit clip (which I use on all my id tags anyway) that I had laying around the house.
So I pinned on my new button (which probably mom and dad will end up wearing most of the time – but I wanted to be the first to try it)….
….and snapped on my new tag to add that special bling bling to my Super Hero outfit.
You also may notice that I am wearing my gold letter A, which was the clear winner when I asked all of you which embroidered patch I should add to my costume! I agree, the gold is just the right color – thanks to everyone who weighed in with their vote.
I’m now ready for my big performance this month at the Spring Doxie Fest! I hope you’ll come meet me and see how stellar I look with all my new custom designed CafePress items!

You all know I love a good DIY project, and when it takes less then 5 minutes and requires no sewing (for my mom who is not so handy with a needle and thread) it’s just an added bonus!
So for Easter this year my mom helped me whip up some quick DIY Bowties that I can wear when all my family comes to visit on Sunday. They’re so fun and easy to make that I can’t even decide which one to wear!
5 Minute No Sew DIY Easter Bowtie for your Pet
What you need:
Scissors or Rotary cutter
Ruler
Fabric
Iron (optional)
Step 1: Cut a long rectangular piece of fabric (Mom cut mine 5″ x 19″ to make my small bow tie). The longer and wider you make your rectangle the bigger your bow tie will be. You will also want to cut a thinner strip of fabric, mine was 2″ x 19″, to be used later.
Step 2: Using your large rectangular piece of fabric fold in the edges. You can use an iron to crease the folds if need be.
Step 3: Next fold your ends towards the center so that they just overlap where the center mark would be.
Step 4: Fold the entire piece of fabric in half.
Step 5: With the front of your bowtie facing you, crease it into 3 even pleats. Then place a clothespin on it to hold it in place while you move to the next step.
Step 6: Using the small strip of fabric you cut, fold in the edges.
Step 7: Wrap the thin strip of fabric around your bowtie and tie in a double knot in the back.
Step 8: Tie your Bowtie around one of your dogs collars, trimming any excess fabric if need be.
You’re now ready for an Easter Party!
Now if I could only decide which one to wear!
P.S. I expect to see lots of dogs in dapper bowties this Easter! Post your dog in their best bowtie on my Facebook wall so we can enjoy them all!
Thanks to everyone who entered my Cafepress Giveaway, you all had some wonderful ideas about what you would make for your dogs!
The winner will receive a $25 Gift Certificate to CafePress where you can find millions of one-of-a-kind designs on every topic you can imagine like dachshund jewelry, pet bowls, and even gifts for dog lovers. You can even have your own designs printed on their products!
So without further adieu, our winner is: Wendy!
