There is something just so wonderful about hanging out in a pile of leaves.

The crunchy sound, the dead leafy smell (you totally know what I’m talking about), the pretty fall colors.

I love ALL OF IT, especially the rumor I heard from Cricket the farm cat that sometimes little critters like to hang out in leaf piles too.

So if you don’t mind, I’ll just spend the rest of my day hanging out in this pile of leaves – and waiting for the critters to join me. *wink*

Fair Hill International 2014

Just like last year, I attended the Fairhill International event to watch one of the most prestigious international three day horse events in the world this past weekend.

This time I was a seasoned pro on the school bus ride over to the grounds. I made sure to assure all the other dogs on the bus that we weren’t in fact headed for school (because who goes to school on a Sunday?).

My first stop on the grounds…..lunch! And with lots of choices to choose from I begged mom to get the steak sandwich wrap….mmmm…..steak.

Next I hit up the shopping tents – in which all the venders commented on how I was the best dressed dog there! (I do try my best)

Then it was time for the main event….Show Jumping! I spent the afternoon watching as Jennie Brannigan and her horse, Cambalda, took home the Gold!

By the end of the day I was exhausted from “riding every stride” with the competitors as I cheered them on!

Good news is I have an entire year to rest up for next year’s event!

It’s that time of year when the sun sets earlier, the leaves change a pretty color, and you have to bundle up a little more on the farm! Here’s a fun little collection of photos from my recent fall fun around the farm.

Over the weekend mom and dad took me to pick out my Halloweenie pumpkins.

But not to worry, this nose is very experienced at picking out the very best carving pumpkins!

Just look at these beauties I sniffed out! I can’t wait to get to carving them, all I have to do is decide what to carve. Any suggestions?

And if you didn’t know, I’m also pretty awesome at carving pumpkins too, just like these sweet pumpkins from a few years back.

Fall with Martha Stewart

Caramel Apples and Goats

With fall rolling in I took my first annual trip of the season to Highland Orchards.

I love sniffing the goats at the orchard, but truth be told, I’m quite happy that there is a fence between us at all times. Safety first!

But the real treat this time was that mom’s first cousin once removed (whatever that means) tagged along with us.

Kids are good for one thing in a dog’s world…..and that’s dropping food!

You can bet I warned Mr. Goat that any food dropped was mine, and mine alone. Don’t worry though, I was very friendly and wagged my tail when I told him. I’m pretty sure he got the message.

When Dogs run Horse Shows

Over the weekend I found myself on an obstacle course at the family farm. Designed to test the horseback riders’ ability to navigate a scary and complex course, I was excited to see how what kind of reaction my obstacles would produce.

When it became clear that not much seemed to worry these horse and rider pairs, I tried to up the anti by enlisting the help of a few groundhogs I know. Unfortunately they weren’t home at the time.

With the competition fierce I employed one last tactic…..creating an obstacle of my own!

Apple of my Eye

Every year when Autumn rolls around I take the obligatory trip to Highland Orchards, home of the cider donut, pumpkin picking, fresh apples, canned preserves and goats!

Like most of the children there I humored my parents with having my photo taken in the fall cutouts.

But we all know there is really only one reason to take a trip to Highland Orchards (besides a bite of cider doughnut)…

…the goats!! Now last year the goats gave me the stink eye, so I was careful to be a bit weary the second time around.

I have to admit those fellows are starting to grow on me, even with their sharp pointy horns.

Although I was still somewhat relieved that there was a fence between me and them, after all I was sorely outnumbered.

I plan to visit the Highland Orchard goats again, if only to get on their good side, because Mom says we may be getting goats on the farm in the near future. Yikes!
