Thanksgiving Day Barkbox // Ammo the Dachshund

I’m so excited to get cooking, well ok, mostly get eating…but you know what I mean!

Thanksgiving Day Barkbox // Ammo the Dachshund

And thanks to Barkbox I even have a happy little chef to help me in the kitchen this year. Although I totally have my eye on him as I caught him sneaking some of my beef stew already!

Thanksgiving Day Barkbox // Ammo the Dachshund

If he behaves perhaps I’ll let him lick the after dinner plates with me.

But you know, the real fun always comes after the big feast, when everyone hunkers down on the couch to snooze off all that turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes.

And comfy clothes are also a total MUST! Happy Thanksgiving Friends! Ammo the Dachshund

Studio 3 Marquee Sign // Ammo the Dachshund

Many many months ago, my mom and dad started building something intriguing.

Studio 3 Marquee Sign // Ammo the Dachshund

It took quite a while to take shape, and at first I wasn’t quite sure what it was going to be for.

Studio 3 Marquee Sign // Ammo the Dachshund

But the farther along my mom and dad got on their project, the more I began to worry…because I knew where it was going to end up.

Studio 3 Marquee Sign // Ammo the Dachshund

Yup, that’s right it ended up right in the window of my shop.

Studio 3 Marquee Sign // Ammo the Dachshund

Now you may be thinking, what’s the big deal? Well the big deal is that my shop already has something in the window that grabs the attention of potential customers.

And that something is me! So as nice as the new shop sign is, I just really hope I won’t be out of a job anytime soon! Ammo the Dachshund

Boxed

Boxed // Ammo the Dachshund

Recently my mom decided to dip into the idea of “buying in bulk” (you know like Sam’s Club and Bj’s Wholesale) after she read a post on one of her favorite blogs about a company called Boxed. She liked it so much that I’ve decided to share the fun we had with it (as in this is not a sponsored post) incase it might interest some of you.

Boxed // Ammo the Dachshund

My mom says Boxed seems to be the way to go to shop in bulk because there are no membership fees, you don’t have to go to the store and lug all those heavy items to and from the cart, and the prices even come out cheaper when my mom compared them to places like Amazon. Plus shipping is free on your first order, and on subsequent orders when you meet a minimum for your area (mine is $60).

Boxed // Ammo the Dachshund

Boxed even carries a few pet items as well. And while they don’t have a huge variety right now, they did say they add new products all the time.

But really I wanted to share Boxed with all of you because there is one major benefit to shopping with them…..

Boxed // Ammo the Dachshund

…..the boxes!! Seriously, you’ll never guess how much fun one of these big boxes can be.

Yea, lets just say I’m hoping mom shops from Boxed more often.

Boxed // Ammo the Dachshund

If you’d like to get your dog some big boxes to play in too you can use the code ZKB8A and save $20 on your first order from Boxed. Ammo the Dachshund

Disclaimer: This is NOT A SPONSORED POST, I just thought it would be fun to share my boxed adventures and thought some of you might enjoy hearing about this great website. Coupon code is a special referral code for all my friends.

Farmhouse Helper

Farmhouse Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

Every day my best friend Trooper is just a wee bit closer to being able to move into his new house on the farm. I know, I know, I’ve been saying that for years…..but this is definitely going to be the year!

Farmhouse Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

Especially since I’ve been around the lend a helping paw! Just check out the video below of me collecting the trash into a nice little pile….

Watch this video on instagram.

Farmhouse Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

I’m a pretty enthusiastic helper, as you can see.

Farmhouse Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper on the other hand never looks thrilled about helping out. But honestly, I don’t blame him….he’s been helping everyday for years!

Farmhouse Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

Don’t worry buddy, the work will be done soon (we hope), and you’ll be able to nap in your new house!

I even kept the bed warm for you! Ammo the Dachshund

Clean Teeth Club

Disclosure: This post is brought to you by Chewy.com

Clean Teeth // Ammo the Dachshund

Recently I went to my annual vet check-up, and while I got a clean bill of health (yay!), my vet did suggest I get back on the teeth brushing bandwagon.

Clean Teeth // Ammo the Dachshund

Truth be told, I sort of fell off that bandwagon a while ago. I know, shame on me.

Clean Teeth // Ammo the Dachshund

While I wouldn’t consider myself a “difficult” patient when it comes to teeth brushing, it’s not exactly easy to brush them.

Clean Teeth // Ammo the Dachshund

Clean Teeth // Ammo the Dachshund

I blame it on a tiny little mouth, and the fact that I have these clumsy paws. It just ends up being sort of awkward.

Clean Teeth // Ammo the Dachshund

So when my friends over at Chewy.com sent me some of these TropiClean Fresh Breath +Plus Advanced Cleaning System Dental Dog Treats I was excited to try something yummy to clean my teeth instead.

Since mom always checks the ingredients on my treats first she was glad to see they were safe: Potato Starch, Tapioca Starch, Glycerin, Dried Beet Pulp, Natural Chicken Flavor, Cane Molasses, Chicken, Gelatin, Ground Flaxseed, Water, Poultry Fat (Preserved with mix tocopherols) Sodium Bicarbonate, Lecithin,  Parsley Flakes, Green Tea Extract, Sorbic Aced (preservative), Blueberry Powder, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Proteinate, Rosemary Extract.

Clean Teeth // Ammo the Dachshund

So, let’s give these treats a whirl, and get my lovely smile back to pearly white!

Clean Teeth // Ammo the Dachshund

Clean Teeth // Ammo the Dachshund

Only time will tell if these chews will help to clean up my teeth, but I’m going to try my hardest to keep up with the regime, especially since it tastes so good!

Clean Teeth // Ammo the Dachshund

To help aide in my new adventure towards whiter teeth, mom also purchased me some of this Clean Teeth Gel made by Tropiclean.

Key Benefits

  • Removes plaque and tartar
  • Soothes irritated gums
  • Reduces risk of periodontal disease
  • Safe for cats and dogs
  • No toothbrush required

No toothbrush required is my favorite benefit, and mom says the ingredients aren’t so bad either: Purified Water, Natural Derived Alcohol, Natural Mint, Glycerin, Natural Cleanser, Carbopol, Chlorophyllin, Green Tea Leaf Extract.

I’ll be sure to give you all an update next month on if my teeth are any whiter and brighter!Ammo the Dachshund

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post by Chewy.com, but all opinions are my own. And while they did send me a package of Tropiclean dental chews, I did purchase the clean teeth gel on my own.

PULLER Review & Giveaway

Disclosure: This review and giveaway is brought to you by Puller.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Recently I got the chance to test a product for dogs that is designed to promote physical exercise.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Puller is a training device made up of two foam rings that encourages physical exercise, helps dogs to relieve stress, and improves overall physical shape and muscle development.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Now I like to think I keep a pretty sleek figure myself, but there is always ways to improve!

Puller claims that with 3 simple exercises for 20 minutes a day your dog can get the equivalent of a 2 mile intensive run or 2 hours of exhausting exercise (like playing fetch).

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

So Trooper and I decided to take Puller out to the farm for a little exercise.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

The 3 exercises that Puller promotes is running, jumping, and pulling.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper and I both enjoyed getting in some physical activity with Puller. We also hear the Puller floats (although we haven’t had a chance to test it), and it’s foam material is nice and soft on our teeth.

And it’s because of the foam material that Puller is not designed to be a toy you leave for your dog to play with on their own, but a device to help you keep your pup fit and active with you.

So to get some inspiration for our next workout, Trooper and I checked out this Puller video with TreT….

After watching that Trooper and I figured, hey, we can do that….so we shot our own Puller video…

Yeah, I think we might need a little more practice before we’re as coordinated with Puller as TreT – but at least we got a good workout trying.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Well, despite our lack of coordination, Trooper and I agree that Puller is a fun device to get us excited about “working out”. Trooper especially got very excited when he saw Puller come out. I preferred to play with my Puller in my basement at home with mom and dad – it’s always been my “workout” room where I spend a lot of time in the winter burning calories and getting some physical exercise in when it’s too cold outside.

So if you want to get your best friend some exercise too, you can fetch your own Puller in standard or mini size from Collar and also on Amazon.

And now for the best part…..

10 Fall Sweaters that Fit Dachshunds

While I know not everyone who reads my blog owns a dog of the long and short sausage type. But I think it’s safe to say that a lot of you probably do. So in an effort to help out my fellow short legged/long backed friends out there I gathered up a few of my favorite sweaters that work well for dachshunds! Mostly because fall sweaters are just so much fun!

And even if you don’t have a dachshund, many of these would work on lots of other breeds as well!

10 Sweaters that Fit Dachshunds

1. Warm Weenies

Quick and Simple Tug Toy for Dogs

Valentine's Day DIY Flirt Pole - interactive dog toy // Ammo the Dachshund

You might remember that back in February my mom helped me make a Flirt Pole. If you’ve never heard of a Flirt Pole, its basically a cat toy for dogs.

And if you or your dog have never played with one before, let me tell you, it’s seriously the most fun toy EVER! I could play with one of these ALL DAY LONG.

And since I’ve gotten so much use out of my Flirt Pole at home (and still do), mom decided to make me a quick and simple one to use at the shop as well. So after gathering up a few supplies that were laying around the shop I made another easy version of the flirt pole in less than 5 minutes.

Simple and Quick DIY Tug Toy for Dogs

Supplies:

  • PVC Pipe
  • Rope
  • Fleece or Dog Toy
  • Electric Drill
  • Scissors

And since this project is so simple, I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves….
