Friday Fetch: Iota GPS Pet Tracker

My mom has been on the lookout for a GPS tracker for me for a long time. I’ve yet to make the plunge into having my every move tracked 24/7 (aside from mom and dad keeping a hawks eye watch on me at all times), mostly because mom claims she hasn’t found the perfect one for me yet.

Then I stumbled across the Iota on Kickstarter, which is the smallest, longest-lasting GPS tracker in the world with a lure of a new nationwide network with no monthly fees (unlike most of it’s counterparts). With only 5 days left to help push the Iota into production on Kickstarter I think I might be ready to take the plunge into having my every move monitored (if only to help my mom and dad sleep sounder)!

Check out the video to find out more about the Iota.

Lake Dogs

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

By now you probably know that hanging out at the lake is one of my favorite things to do in the summer. I love it so much that whenever I can I like to bring my dog friends to the lake with me too. You might remember a few summers back when I introduced my gal pal Shilah to the lake when she was just 1 year old.

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

Well it seems my gal pals keep getting younger and younger (*wink*), and this time I brought along my new friend Maya the rescue pup to the lake.

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

It was a bit more of an overcast type of day, and I was a bit worried we might get rained on, but you know what…..when you go to the lake you gotta expect to get wet!

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

This time I decided to rent a double kayak with my mom and dad. Since the water was a little cooler I didn’t feel like getting as wet so a kayak seemed to be the way to go.

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

Maya started out on the kayak too so that she could get her sea legs.

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

And it didn’t take long for her to take the obligatory accidental lake plunge. Don’t worry Maya, we’ve all been there!

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

But Maya didn’t let a little dip in the lake discourage her, she hopped right back on and even tried her paw on the paddleboard too.

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

She even got brave enough to take a purposeful plunge later on in the day (which my camera crew totally missed!)

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

And incase you’re wondering, life guard Ammo was on duty the whole time and I kept a watchful eye on my young puppy friend.

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

Needless to say I was very glad she figured out the whole swimming thing on her own, because I was much too comfortable to perform any daring rescues!

Lake Dogs // Summer // Ammo the Dachshund

I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that this won’t be Maya’s last time on the lake.

After all, how could you not come back with a view like this! Ammo the Dachshund

Clean Plate Club

Clean Plate Club // Kitchen Remodel // Ammo the Dachshund

You may recall my shopping trip a few weeks ago with mom and dad to pick out a new dishwasher for my kitchen. Well, fast forward to this past weekend and my dish washing replacement finally arrived!

Clean Plate Club // Kitchen Remodel // Ammo the Dachshund

According to mom and dad this is the year of the new kitchen……which by my best guess will take probably about a year to complete at the pace my parents go! But who’s rushing. And since the dishwasher has been leaking all over the floor I guess it was the very first thing to get the big boot.

Clean Plate Club // Kitchen Remodel // Ammo the Dachshund

While mom and dad seemed excited to have a new appliance (the first one ever!) I on the other hand found myself sulking that it was here.

Clean Plate Club // Kitchen Remodel // Ammo the Dachshund

Not only did it come with a whole new set of rules for me (no more standing on the dishwasher door to lick plates to name a few), but it didn’t even smell like anything great, like cookies, bacon, or peanut butter!

Clean Plate Club // Kitchen Remodel // Ammo the Dachshund

Dad got right to work installing the new dishwasher, while I looked on with distain.

Clean Plate Club // Kitchen Remodel // Ammo the Dachshund

The only real fun thing I can say about the new appliance is that the packaging made for a little entertainment. Although it would of been more fun if mom had let me shred it to bits!

Clean Plate Club // Kitchen Remodel // Ammo the Dachshund

Before my new dishwasher was completely installed I tried my hardest one last time to convince mom and dad that the only thing they needed for clean plates was me! Trust me, I can do the job better than any fancy dishwasher.

But alas, the thing got installed anyway. Sigh. I guess you win some and you lose some. Ammo the Dachshund

I found the mat to be the perfect spot to take an afternoon snooze under my favorite tree!

Mom really liked the idea of training me to use the mat to “park myself” when we were out and about (like at a restaurant).

Park It Mat Review & Giveaway // Peach Industries // Ammo the Dachshund

In fact, I even took my new Park It Mat on an adventure over the weekend.

It turned out to be the perfect thing to line the bottom of the shopping cart when I decided to make a pit-stop at the dog friendly home improvement store in my town.

The Park It Mat made it so I didn’t have to stand on the wire bottom of the cart and made the ride much more enjoyable.

Watch This

Watch This // Training Horses Through Mimicking // Ammo the Dachshund

Whenever it’s time to work on training the ponies I’m never too far as I love offering encouraging words to my ponies as they learn new skills and tricks.

Watch This // Training Horses Through Mimicking // Ammo the Dachshund

My buddy Boomerang here is learning how to be more comfortable on a teeter totter.

Watch This // Training Horses Through Mimicking // Ammo the Dachshund

Sometimes though, the ponies learn best by watching someone else do it first. So I offer up my skills, and tell Boomerang to watch this as I plod effortlessly across the teeter totter. In theory, watching someone else do it helps my ponies to realize it’s not as scary as it seems.

Although it would also help if Boomerang was actually paying attention instead of sneaking grass behind me! Sigh. Ammo the Dachshund

Kid Magnet

Kid Magnet // Ammo the Dachshund

One of the things that I love about the summer is being able to dine at restaurants with my mom and dad. Occasionally on the weekends we make sunday morning breakfasts (which accommodate outdoor seating that is dog friendly) a priority.

Kid Magnet // Ammo the Dachshund

This particular weekend I decided to hit up the Green Street Grill for some yummy breakfast.

Kid Magnet // Ammo the Dachshund

As soon as I parked myself at the dining table I began to draw attention from the other diners, in particular those that were under 3 feet tall.

Kid Magnet // Ammo the Dachshund

If you didn’t know already, I’m a total kid magnet!

Kid Magnet // Ammo the Dachshund

Maybe it’s because I’m the perfect kid-friendly size, but where-ever I go those tiny little hands are bound to find their way onto my fur.

Kid Magnet // Ammo the Dachshund

And I’m totally ok with being a kid magnet, because when I’m stuck eyeballing mom’s breakfast (that I seem to never get a bite of)…..

Kid Magnet // Ammo the Dachshund

….I know there will always be a kid nearby that has their breakfast all over their face and hands that totally won’t mind if I sneak a lick!

Kid Magnet // Ammo the Dachshund

Afterwards, when I thought my breakfast outing was over, we headed out to the home improvement store to do some shopping.

Kid Magnet // Ammo the Dachshund

Little did I know that my breakfast wasn’t quite over yet, because I got to meet this little girl with delicious left-over food all over her face!

Kid Magnet // Ammo the Dachshund

Being a kid magnet is exhausting, but I wouldn’t change it for anything, because someone out there has to rid the world of sticky kid hands and faces! Ammo the Dachshund

Afternoon Nap

…I come face to face with the lens of a camera!

The Eclectic Hound Martingale Review & Giveaway

Disclaimer : This is a sponsored post and giveaway brought to you by Eclectic Hound.

The Eclectic Hound Martingale Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

My new friends over at The Eclectic Hound sent me over this adorable martingale collar to take for a spin.

The Eclectic Hound Martingale Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Now Martingale Collars are all the rage right now, but did you know that they were originally designed for sight hounds, such as greyhounds and whippets, whose heads are smaller than their necks and can easily slip out of traditional buckle collars.

The Eclectic Hound Martingale Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

The same can be true for Dachshunds and more and more trainers recently have been recommending them for dogs of all breeds and sizes because of their safety.

The Eclectic Hound Martingale Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Designed to slip over your dog’s head, this collar from the Eclectic Hound should then be adjusted so you can fit 1 -2 fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck.

The Eclectic Hound Martingale Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

The martingale loop, which functions by gently tightening around the dog’s neck when pressure is applied to the leash, makes it so your dog can’t back out of the collar.

The Eclectic Hound Martingale Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

The Eclectic Hound Shop has so many fun collar designs it can be hard to decide which one to get (or get them all!), but ultimately I chose this preppy alligator design, because I’m pretty sure it makes me look extra tough. Or preppy I guess depending on how you look at it!

The Eclectic Hound Martingale Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

So if you’d like your dog to look preppy and tough at the same time too, you can save 15% off your next purchase at The Eclectic Hound with code AMMO15.

Summer at the Pool

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

Hot summer days are always best spent by the pool, which is exactly where I headed last weekend!

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

I took some relaxing raft rides.

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

I even worked on my tan.

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

But what I was most excited for was to dig into this month’s Barkbox!

Mom took some great videos of me enjoying my Barkbox poolside, unfortunately the computer decided the videos looked way too yummy to share and ate them all! So instead I’ll have to share my pool adventures with you via photographs. Hopefully you won’t be as sad about it as I am.

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

So after digging into my Barkbox I decided to break open the Louisiana Crab Jerky, because everyone knows you have to eat crab when you lounge by the pool.

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

I even chowed down on these PetSafe Indigo Chews, which tasted just as yummy even though mom says they are supposed to boost my antioxidants and clean my teeth all at the same time!

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

In fact I was having so much fun with my Barkbox that I decided to take it out to sea with me. Dad may or may not have had to save me when I drifted a bit too far.

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

Sadly we had an incident on the water though, as Mr. Whale forgot to wear his life vest and took a tumble into the pool.

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

Not to worry though, I’m an expert life guard – and wasted no time in rushing to his rescue.

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

It helps if you listen to baywatch music while looking at this photograph.

Summer at the Pool // Ammo the Dachshund

I’m also great at mouth to mouth resuscitation….maybe with a nibble thrown in here or there for good measure!

Boy, who know pool day could be so exciting!
