Dachshund Tormented by House Fly

Ok, so I know you probably think of me as this big brave Super Hero, and I am! But sometimes I come up against some unexpected evil that throws me for a loop. And that evil is called House Fly.

Ammo the Dachshund Tormented by House Fly

As much as I hate to admit it, I spend many hours hiding in the shop from these horrible creatures that find their way inside.

Mom tries her best to catch those darn flies that make my life a nightmare, but sometimes there is just one that seems to outsmart every capture device there is. So I finally decided to dog-up and fight back…

Well unfortunately that House Fly lived to fight another day! Until we meet again nemesis, this time I’m ready for you!

Dachshund Attempts to Fly Plane

Dachshund Flys Plane - And doesn't crash! // Ammo the Dachshund

It’s been a few years since I’ve set paw on the airport runway, but just after Christmas I decided it was high time I took to the sky once again.

Dachshund Flys Plane - And doesn't crash! // Ammo the Dachshund

Last time I took to the air (my very first time in fact), I was just a passenger, but this time I figured – why not just fly the plane myself?

Dachshund Flys Plane - And doesn't crash! // Ammo the Dachshund

After all, if anything were to go wrong – all I had to do was stick my head out the window, since I have my own awesome ear-flapping propellers!

Dachshund Flys Plane - And doesn't crash! // Ammo the Dachshund

After running through my safety checklist I was ready to load up my passengers and take to the air!

Dachshund Flys Plane - And doesn't crash! // Ammo the Dachshund

And incase you are wondering, I’m very thorough when it comes to safety.

Dachshund Flys Plane - And doesn't crash! // Ammo the Dachshund

I even radioed in to the control tower to make sure my plane was stocked with extra cookies – in the event that we had to make an emergency landing on a desert island somewhere. One can never be too prepared.

But, just as I radioed control – they reminded me that I did not in fact have my pilots license and piloting the plane wouldn’t be a great idea. Dang.

To be fair, they did have a point. So I popped into the backseat with mom and readied myself for takeoff.

I have to admit, it’s much more fun to be a passenger then having the responsibility of piloting the plane myself. And I’m sure everyone else was relieved to have an experienced pilot taking us for a ride.

Raise of paws, who thinks I should take my pilot’s license next year? *wink* Ammo the Dachshund

How do you think your dog would react during a plane ride? Would they sit back and relax, or try to hang their head out the window? Do tell!

Throwback Thursday: Dachshund Flight

A couple of years ago I took to the air (just like Snoopy only not quite as dramatic) and went for my first single engine plane ride! I had a blast looking at everything below turn into tiny little specs….just like ants….or rodents to be hunted!

I can’t wait for my next plane ride! Has your dog ever flown before?

Dachshund Takes Flight – Flying High in a Piper Single Engine Plane

Yesterday I shared with you my paddleboarding adventures on the lake during my stay-cation, and today I have an even more thrilling tale to tell!

Last week I took to the air for my very first flight ever!

Ammo the Dachshund takes Flight - Adventures in taking a Small Dog Flying in a Piper

Now as you may already know, I’m not your average dog, so when I took to the air I didn’t just book a flight on some commercial jet for a week-long getaway. No instead I decided to fly in style by hopping aboard my own single engine plane – aka the Piper Archer II.

I didn’t have to look too far to find a pilot for my first flight either, because my mom’s dad has been a recreational pilot since 1986, and I was to be his very first canine passenger.

Being that this was my first flight, I dressed in the best piloting attire I could find. I couldn’t risk looking like I didn’t know what I was doing.

I was pretty darn excited to take to the air, so much so that I even practiced my airplane yelling just in case it was anything like riding on a roller coaster.

As we took to the air I kept my eyes glued to the window – it was nothing like riding in a car!

I was fascinated by how tiny everything looked from the air, and the cars on the roads below looked just like little rodents scurrying all around.

We flew over many places that I recognized, like my house, the shop where I work, and even the farm – where I waved hello to all my pony friends below.

We even flew over Marsh Creek Lake where I had taken my paddleboarding adventure the day before.

I was having so much fun looking out the window that I almost forgot we were so high in the air.

But then I caught sight of all the dials and buttons and nobs, and remembered that we weren’t in kansas anymore   firmly planted on the ground anymore.

The dials and buttons and nobs had me so excited that it made me want to get my pilots license too! Check it out as I help navigate the plane during a take off and landing:

After we landed I couldn’t stop beaming from ear to ear!

Flying in a single engine plane was one of the most exciting things I have ever done.

Who knew this super hero was born to fly!

So cross flying in the sky off my bucket list, because this dog has earned his wings! Maybe next time I’ll have to try helicopters! Ammo the Dachshund

Agility for Super Heroes

Yesterday I started my beginner agility class at Wagsworth Manor. So, knowing that I would need to get in shape beforehand, over the weekend I broke out my super cape to help me get the party started.

There is something about that little piece of fabric – that just makes you want to fly!

…and fly….

….and fly….

…and fly some more!

And it’s a good thing I did all that flying beforehand…..

…because this is all my classmates saw on my first day of agility class as I soured over the jumps, sped through the weaving poles, and dashed through the tunnel! I can’t wait until next week’s class!
