Graduation Day

Ammo the dachshund memorial day weekend

You might think that during my 3-day weekend for memorial day that most of my time would be spend lounging around and relaxing. But if you are a regular reader of my blog, then you know that this is simply not going to fly around my house – and you better believe that I packed as many adventures in as I could! By the end of the weekend I was so tired I even slept through dinner!

I kicked off the weekend by celebrating my Aunt Laurel’s graduation from the University of Delaware.

Even though I physically didn’t get to attend Laurel’s graduation as a certified Athletic Trainer I was there in spirit as mom texted me photos from the event so I could watch from home.

But I did get to wear my blue and gold proudly for the graduation party held at the farm the next day.

Ammo the dachshund university of delaware graduation party

I kept busy all day and played a whole bunch of yard games with the party goers.

Cornhole is my new favorite, and I’m fairly certain that I was the only one playing properly. Winning!

And just like any function on the family farm, the magical ponies unicorns made their appearance as the graduate was made to participate in an embarrassing obstacle challenge.

I let my pal Trooper handle the judging this time while I manned the camera with mom, as I wasn’t going to miss a second of this train wreck.

Eventually the graduate crossed over the bridge to her future with her trusty steed Jet!

And we all cheered!

By this point in the day I was pretty zonked, but I pulled it all together, because I’m never one to miss family portrait time!

ammo the dachshund university of delaware graduation party

Awww how cute.

ammo the dachshund university of delaware graduation party

Trooper of course decided to kick off the extended family portrait with a bang!

ammo the dachshund university of delaware graduation party

And it was all down hill after that!

ammo the dachshund university of delaware graduation party

I’m so lucky to be a part of so many family adventures!

But, next time I might have to recruit a stunt double, because this pup was not prepared for the awesomeness that is GRADUATION DAY!

The Birthday Boy

trooper - ammo the dachshund's best friend

Today is a special day, because it’s my best friend Trooper’s 5th Birthday!!

trooper - ammo the dachshund's best friend

Trooper has been by my side since the very beginning and I’m very excited to celebrate his Birthday with him today!

He doesn’t know yet, but I got him a few goodies that I guess I’ll share with him tonight at his party. I’m a nice guy like that.

trooper - ammo the dachshund's best friend

5 years is a long time, but I’m very much looking forward to many more years with my bestest friend by my side.

And Trooper can look forward to many many more years of me nipping at his heels!

Mellow Time

shilah the husky puppy

My friend Shilah the Husky puppy came to visit me over the weekend.

shilah the husky puppy

And although you may not be able to tell by looking at the photos, much like most puppies, Shilah is a bundle of energy.

shilah the husky puppy

But with me as her teacher, I’ve been showing her the rewarding benefits to mellowing out with your family. Like snuggling on the couch….

….or watching tv in the living room (animal planet of course).

I know it’s hard for her to mellow out with me, but I promised her as a compromise that this winter we’d hitch her up to my sled and do some dog sledding! Yeehaw!

P.S. Happy 28th Birthday to my Dad! He’s sooooo old!

Jackpot

ammo the dachshund versatility obstacle course

On Sunday we had an event at the farm, which meant I had lots and lots of work to do.

ammo the dachshund versatility obstacle course

Not only did I have to help set up the obstacle course the day before, but I also had to make sure everything was safe for the ponies.

After all the obstacles got my approval I took to my post to judge the competition.

We had some stiff competition this time around and they were all eager and hoping to win the jackpot cash prize!

But after much deliberation on my part, there could be only one winner! And to thank me for all my hard work, I happily take payment via squeaky toys purchased with jackpot cash prizes!

P.S. Too see more photos from our event at Iron Horse Farm visit our Facebook page!

Watching

Oh hey, did you come to watch with me?

I’m not really sure what we’re watching for, but I’ll know it when I see it.

There, over there, I think I saw it.

Oh yeah, this is definitely it.

Wow, what a great thing to watch, I hope you didn’t miss it!

Fashion Show! compliments of Bullseye

So today when I got to work there was a surprise package for me waiting at the shop. I’m no stranger to getting mail at the shop, but this was an unexpected package.

When I opened it up it was filled with goodies from the Polka Dog Bakery at Target! And there was a letter from Bullseye the Target Dog saying he noticed my post online and wanted to send me a couple of his favorite Polka Dog Products.

I was totally blushing that Bullseye even knew my name!! And then I realized there was really only one thing to do when a package of goodies arrives at the shop……FASHION SHOW!

Somehow Bullseye knew that all the Polka Dog products would match perfectly with my Super Hero Cape too.

Putting Workout Barbie to Shame

Today my bestest pony pal Minnow is putting Workout Barbie to shame. See Minnow is training for a new performance for this year’s Chincoteague Pony Swim down on Chincoteague Island at the end of July.

I’ve seen it first hand and trust me, this:

…is way cooler than this:

And if that weren’t enough, Minnow is even letting me be his workout partner!

You can call me Workout Puppy!

workout pony

So me and Workout Pony here are going to be spending the next couple months working on our muscles. You probably won’t even recognize us by the end of it!

So make sure you head over to the Painting Pony Blog to keep up to date on our workout progress. Minnow even promised to show me how to do push-ups soon! Yipee!

The Inspector

ammo the dachshund inspecting at the farm

My pony friends recently got in a shipment of new equipment to use during their mounted games competitions on the farm!

ammo the dachshund inspecting at the farm

These brand-new items for the Windsor Castle Race looked pretty spiffy to me, but there is really no way to tell until Inspector Ammo makes his rounds.

ammo the dachshund inspecting at the farm

The traffic cones looked alright I guess, and would have gotten an A++ instead of an A if they smelled like dead animals instead of new plastic though.

ammo the dachshund inspecting at the farm

The polo balls were a bit tough to inspect because they were very difficult for me to pick up.

ammo the dachshund inspecting at the farm

Rolling them was a bit more effective – but just not as fun.

ammo the dachshund inspecting at the farm

I was distraught as to whether I should give them a passing grade for pony usage – especially since they didn’t come equipped with squeakers inside.

ammo the dachshund inspecting at the farm

But then I decided, what the heck, squeaker or not how can you not have fun with a ball! So go ahead ponies, have fun with your new toys – they passed inspection! Yipee!

Number One Fan

I’m a fan of a lot of things – cheese, hot dogs, squeaky toys – but being a Number One Fan requires a lot more work.

You have to pay attention at all times so you don’t miss a second of the action.

You have to be willing to brave the elements and come prepared with extra blankies.

You have to keep your eyes glued on your favorite players at all times.

You have to keep a mental score as well.
