On Saturday was the Downingtown Christmas Parade that comes right down the street in front of my shop. As per our yearly tradition, me and Trooper staked out the best spot in front of the shop to watch the parade go by.
There were marching bands galore and lots of amazing floats this year.
And despite the cold temperatures the streets were packed with people excited to watch the parade go by.
This guy on top of an old fire engine even waved at me! He must read my blog.
The parade was so much fun, but my real duties of the day were inside the shop – where I handed out hot cider and cookies to all the chilly parade goers.
I might have had to sample the goods too, you know, to make sure they were tasty enough for my guests.
So what about you, what kind of things are you doing to get into the Holiday Spirit? There’s only 14 more days until Santa comes to visit! Time to get your Holiday Cheer on! Yipeee!
After owning my Christmas tree for 4 days I was FINALLY able to decorate it last night with my family.
I tried really hard to help dad string the lights….
…but when you have paws for hands it can get a little complicated.
So, dad had to finish up that step of decorating the tree without me.
But I did get to hang up some of my favorite ornaments.
Remind you of any super adorable Dachshunds?
In the end my tree came out looking spectacular! Although, I might have to gnaw off some of the bottom branches, you know, so my mounds of Christmas presents have plenty of room to fit under the tree.
As per my yearly tradition, mom and dad took me to visit Santa again this year.
I wore my best-est Christmas outfit and told Santa about all the toys and goodies I was hoping he’d leave me under my tree, just like in years past….
I asked him if he could forget about the secret stash I have hiding under my bed if I promised to leave him a big plate of cookies on Christmas Eve!
I also might have asked if I could keep one of his magical reindeer.
I told him not to worry, because I would take excellent care of him since I have loads of experience taking care of ponies.
I’d also take an elf if he has extra. 🙂
This year my trip to see Santa benefited Canine Partners for Life, an organization that is dedicated to training service dogs for people in need. Special Thanks to Clocks for Seeing Photography for the wonderful shot of me with Santa!
Over the weekend I got to pick out my Christmas tree with my family. We decided to go back to the Tri-color Christmas Tree Farm just like last year so that we could cut down our own tree. (you know, the do-it-yourself method).
It’s very important to pick a special tree, after all you want it to look enticing for Santa to leave a whole bunch of presents under on Christmas Eve.
I narrowed my search down to a few promising trees, but ultimately decided on this glorious fella….
Santa would be proud! But, if you are wondering where the picture is of me sawing down my tree pick this year, sadly I must disappoint. See, after I chose my tree I got a bit sidetracked….
…really I was just checking to see if the groundhogs needed any help cutting down their Christmas tree.
I did eventually emerge from my underground adventure to help dad carry the tree to the car.
And I happily shared the back seat with my pretty little Christmas tree all the way home.
Here’s a happy little video of Holiday Tree Hunting Adventure:
I can’t wait to get all of my ornaments on it and decorate it super pretty for Santa! Make sure you check back tomorrow so I can tell you all about my visit to see Santa!
Last week I was busy working away on a secret project for the Holidays. I made Christmas Cards! Yay!
Mom fashioned a beard for me out of some cotton and a string and I happily posed for portraits in a cheerful little Santa hat we got at the dollar store last year.
Picture taking always proves to be the easy part, it’s coming up with the inside greetings that takes a little more effort.
But this year I came up with my very own version of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas….
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And left tiny paw prints all covered in soot.
The beard of his chin was white as the snow,
His twinkling eyes gave off a warm glow.He spoke not a word, but gave out a sigh,
As he gobbled the milk & cookies in the blink of an eye.He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,
“I like peanut butter cookies, next time get it right!”

Last night when I was hanging out on the farm I decided that the ponies were looking a bit dusty. With all the rain we had on Tuesday the ponies had taken it upon themselves to roll like little piggies in all the mud puddles. I have to say I was a bit jealous I missed out on the fun.
So, I did what any amazing farm dog would do, I decided to give my pony friends a good brushing.
I readied my brush box with all the necessary tools.
And I picked out the very best brushes for the job.
All was going well until Minnow reminded me that I don’t have hands, nor am I tall enough to reach much past the ponies’ knees. Sigh. You win this one minnow……. you win this one.

As winter approaches on the farm, things can get a little desolate. The birds flew south for the winter and all my furry little farm friends are hibernating.
Some days I wander around aimlessly just hoping to find a squirrel to chase, or sit longingly at one of my groundhog holes.
And then some days lady luck shines down on me and I find a dried up worm along my travels.
We play the epic battle of eternal debate as I contemplate whether or not to bury it.
Most times my impatient self wins out and I do what any cute little dachshund that longs for summer and furry animals to chase would do…
…I roll on top of that stinky little worm until I too smell like stink.
It’s not as good as chasing squirrels, barking at birds, or hunting groundhogs – but at least it’s something!
Sigh. Please come back furry friends, I promise I’ll give you a head start in our never ending game of chase.
