Friday Fetch: Blink Leash

I might have a mild obsession with rope leashes currently – that and the color teal. We dogs don’t wear only wear clothing on occasion, so we gotta accessorize somehow!

So even though my mom recently made me my own diy rope leash, when I found the TEAL ROPE leashes on Blink I found myself begging and pleading my mom for an upgrade. True I probably could have dyed my current leash, but these were just oh so cool.

These hand-made, hand-dyed leashes are made of 100% cotton rope with brass hardware. Leash ends are spliced and then whipped, making them as strong as uncut rope.

They come in three different colors, Salmon, Lake and Smoke as well as two different styles – slip or clip.

You can fetch your own for $20-$45 at Blink

Friday Fetch: Papercut Pet Portrait

In honor of me being a painter now, I thought I’d share another artist with you today. Check out these super cool custom pet portraits. I think Lemon Drop Land would totally be worthy of making a special portrait of yours truly – complete with super hero cape (P.S. my Birthday is in October!)

To create the papercut, I’ll begin with a sketch of the (fairly high resolution) photo that you email me. Once I’m happy with the likeness and “feel,” I’ll slice the image out of subtly textured, sturdy, acid-free, highly light-resistant, 60% cotton papers, ensuring a long life without deterioration. Each piece is signed and dated.

You can fetch your favorite pet’s portrait for $200 at Lemon Drop Land on Etsy.

And if you just so happen to own a Boxer then you are in luck! Pre-cut Boxer portrait – $80 at Lemon Drop Land. I’m a little jealous that it’s not a Dachshund!

P.S. You can also LIKE LemondropLand over on Facebook.

DIY $5 Rope Dog Leash

So mom noticed lately that I’ve been ooh and ahhing over this trendy rope leash from Mungo & Maud. And while I’ll always think it’s super stylin’ – $110 for a new leash for me just wasn’t in the budget.

Instead, on a recent trip to a tack shop in Delaware – mom came up with a plan to make me my very own Rope Leash. For $5!

D.I.Y. $5 Rope Dog Leash

Supplies: cotton horse lead rope, hammer, rope clamp

Step One: You will need to obtain a cotton horse leadrope. I got mine at a horse tack shop for $3. You can also get them online* and at most tack supply places. Or check your local horse supply store.

Step Two: You will need to buy a clamp to make the end of your rope into a handle. I bought a package of two (you know, incase I need a rope leash for my best pal Trooper) for $4.39 (about $2 for each one) at the local hardware store. Most hardware stores should carry them in the rope section, and you can find them online*.

Step 3: Figure out how big of a handle you want at the other end and adjust your rope into the clamp accordingly. It also helps to have a cute little dachshund around for supervision.

Step 4: You will need the help of your dad to hammer the clamp shut around the rope.

Then Tada! You are ready for your next walk in your stylish dog leash!

If you don’t have access to a horse lead rope, you can also use any cotton rope. You will just need too metal rope clamps and a snap for the end – all supplies can be found at the local hardware store.

Yeah, you know you want to beg your mom or dad to make you one of these bad boys!

I think I need one of these in every color! Almost as good as the real thing…..

Easter Treats

Well my Easter plan worked, because the Easter Bunny definitely visited my house!

Mom made me wait to open my Easter basket until after we went to the farm & fed all the ponies. As you can imagine by that point I could hardly contain my excitement! So when I finally got my paws on those presents he left for me – I went a little nuts.

Oh Boy!

Immediately I took cover under the bushes in my yard, because I knew Trooper would want to play with my new toys.

As you can see he found me.

But that’s ok, because Trooper’s gonna have this look on his face when I get even!….

hehe.

Friday Fetch: Bow Tie

With Easter just around the corner, lately I’ve been thinking about my “Sunday Best”. And that’s when I remembered my pal, Buddy!

Buddy’s mom not only make’s totally awesome collars (which both Trooper and I wear everyday!), but she also makes totally pawesome bow ties. I’m seriously drooling over the Aqua Honeycomb one!

These 100% cotton collars include a matching snap on, movable and removable handmade bow tie.

Friday Fetch: Flossy the Dachshund

Ever since my mom DIY’d me a new id tag I’ve been begging her to make me something else spiffy to wear. Maybe an embroidered scarf or leash? The possibilities are endless.

Whatever she decides to make I think we MUST have one of these Dachshund Floss Holders! Please meet Flossy the Dachshund!

Flossy is the solution to all your embroidery floss needs! Super cute and functional, Flossy easily holds one skein of embroidery floss. Simply wind the floss around Flossy’s tummy until it is almost wound up, then place the end of the thread in her mouth as shown in the photos. Voila! Flossy is keeping your floss!

Flossy was hand drawn and is made from beautiful birch wood. Flossy measures about 3.5 inches wide and 1.25 inches tall. You can get your own Flossy the Dachshund from SugarCookie for $12

Dachshunds make Everything Sweeter!

It’s true, it really is.

I think that’s why this year mom’s Valentine’s Day present to dad was SUPER sweet. Mostly because it came in the form of a Dachshund!

I have to admit I’m a tad jealous. I wanted a Dachshund Valentine! Eh, who am I kidding – I’d much rather have a rawhide anyway – but it’s still super cool.

You can get your very own Message in a Doxie here – perfect to send all year long! I kinda want to get a whole bunch to send to all my favorite friends! Maybe then Cricket will forgive me for not getting her a Valentine’s Day Present.

Sigh. I guess I’ll have to start saving up my pennies again. Good thing I have that Dachshund Bank!
