With fall rolling in I took my first annual trip of the season to Highland Orchards.

I love sniffing the goats at the orchard, but truth be told, I’m quite happy that there is a fence between us at all times. Safety first!

But the real treat this time was that mom’s first cousin once removed (whatever that means) tagged along with us.

Kids are good for one thing in a dog’s world…..and that’s dropping food!

You can bet I warned Mr. Goat that any food dropped was mine, and mine alone. Don’t worry though, I was very friendly and wagged my tail when I told him. I’m pretty sure he got the message.

Every year when Autumn rolls around I take the obligatory trip to Highland Orchards, home of the cider donut, pumpkin picking, fresh apples, canned preserves and goats!

Like most of the children there I humored my parents with having my photo taken in the fall cutouts.

But we all know there is really only one reason to take a trip to Highland Orchards (besides a bite of cider doughnut)…

…the goats!! Now last year the goats gave me the stink eye, so I was careful to be a bit weary the second time around.

I have to admit those fellows are starting to grow on me, even with their sharp pointy horns.

Although I was still somewhat relieved that there was a fence between me and them, after all I was sorely outnumbered.

I plan to visit the Highland Orchard goats again, if only to get on their good side, because Mom says we may be getting goats on the farm in the near future. Yikes!

Goat Monster

On a recent trip to Highland Orchards I met some ~~dogs~~ ~~goats~~ monsters.

Mom reminded me that I have met goats before when I went to the corn maze last year.

True, maybe I had seen goats before, but these were not the SAME goats.

I know, because I sniffed them.

I mean they smelled friendly enough I guess.

But friendly or not, I quickly realized there was like a bazillion of them….and only one of me. Yikes!

I may have spent the rest of the day looking over my shoulder – you never know when a group of ~~goats~~ monsters might sneak up behind you!

Cider Doughnuts & Bubble Baths

I live in farm country. Right out my back door is rolling farmland, cows, horses, and the sweet smell of manure. It’s a dog’s dream really.

Chester County, PA is a hot spot for farmers – and the neighboring Amish in Lancaster County too.

Taking a drive in farm country is one of my favorite things to do in the fall. And that’s just what I got to do on Sunday!

yuck! I think a bug flew up my nose!

When we arrived at our farmland destination I could smell livestock, apples & pumpkins! We were at Highland Orchards! Mom said the Orchard makes the best apple cider & cider doughnuts in the fall…..this was probably why the line wrapped around the building.

Apparently though, it’s not fall unless you wait in the line for a taste of warm cider doughnuts – unfortunately I had to wait in the car.

But the good news is I got a taste when we got to Iron Horse Farm, which is just around the corner from the orchard.

After doughnuts and cider I had a quick training session with my pal Minnow. We’re working on a super cool new act to debut at the Equine Extravaganza in a few weeks! I’m excited to show everyone when it’s finished!

Then it was back home for….BATHTIME!??

Oh wait, I forgot, I’m one of those strange dogs that loves to get baths! I pretty much jump into the tub everyday just hoping someone will come in and turn the water on for me…if only I had opposable thumbs!

mmmmm....all fresh and clean. can we do it again?

Well looks like I’ll just have to go looking for something stinky to roll in so I can get another bath! I’m thinking stink bugs….since we’re pretty much infested with them right now!
