Weekend Snow

ammo the dachshund in the snow

On Saturday we got our first snowfall of 2012 in Pennsylvania.

ammo the dachshund in the snow

I love the snow, but sometimes I’d just much rather stay in bed.

ammo the dachshund in the snow

The wind can sting your eyes, and….

ammo the dachshund in the snow

…when the snow freezes it can be quite difficult for little paws to trek around in.

ammo the dachshund in the snow

But, duty calls and I gotta dig deep and just keep going…..

ammo the dachshund in the snow

…because there are certain ponies that don’t take “snow days”…..

ammo the dachshund in the snow

….and become quite angry when they don’t get their morning hay.

ammo the dachshund in the snow

I don’t complain much about leaving my warm bed on snow days though….

ammo the dachshund in the snow

….because after all, someone has to make sure all the necessary “scents” are still in their designated place after a blanketing of new fallen snow.

Robot Ponies

Yesterday on the farm a man with a big bucket full of tools showed up.

ammo the dachshund and the horse dentist

Me and Trooper weren’t quite sure what was going on, but mom said it was the horse dentist for the ponies.

ammo the dachshund and the horse dentist

That story added up fine while Minnow had his teeth brushed by an uncomfortable looking metal pole.

ammo the dachshund and the horse dentist

But then he was fastened with a strange and scary looking face mask – which led me to conclude that they were turning Minnow into a robot!

ammo the dachshund and the horse dentist

This sounded way cool to me, I was actually quite excited to have a robot as a friend – Trooper on the other hand was a bit nervous.

ammo the dachshund and the horse dentist

Yes, a robot pony was the coolest thing ever I decided.

ammo the dachshund and the horse dentist

So I started helping the man by handing him his tools so that my robot pony could be ready faster.

ammo the dachshund and the horse dentist

Trooper was insistent in his worrying though, “But Ammo, what if robot ponies eat little wiener dogs for breakfast?”

ammo the dachshund and the horse dentist

Not being one to take the eating of wiener dogs lightly, Me and Trooper later asked Minnow if he would eat us – were he in fact a robot pony now.

ammo the dachshund and the horse dentist

Minnow assured us that he would not, and that he wasn’t a robot pony, but one can never be too careful – so we’ve taken to watching Minnow out of the corner of our eyes. Just in case.

ammo the dachshund and the horse dentist

And for now, Trooper is very relieved that he is the only one that will be eating any wiener dogs for breakfast.

Messy Paws

Yesterday on the farm mom decided to bring the ponies’ paints out of storage for a little winter painting.

As you can see, they made quite the mess.

A mess that I somehow got suckered into cleaning up.

And my lovely assistant was absolutely no help at all!

You can check out the paintings by my fabulous pony pals on their website.

Hoop Jumping

Even though this video was posted on my Youtube Page last year, I’m pretty certain I never shared it on the blog. Mostly because it’s embarrassing for certain Dachshunds involved. I will not mention any names.

Either way, I hope it gave you a good chuckle today.

Lumber Jack

When I arrived at the farm yesterday there was a surprise waiting for me.

ammo the dachshund lumber jack

A Lumber Jack had come and chopped down lots of trees.

ammo the dachshund lumber jack

At first I was sad because I was worried about where all my squirrel friends would go, but mom assured me that with 20 acres of trees on the farm there would be plenty of other places for them to live – and the trees had to be taken down to make room for Trooper’s new house!

ammo the dachshund lumber jack

Trooper’s new house you say?

ammo the dachshund lumber jack

Well then I better get busy finding the perfect spot to build me and Trooper’s wrestle room. It’s gotta be big enough to fit bunk beds and a trampoline!

I’ve announced the winner of my 2012 Calendar, click here to see if it’s you!

2012 New Year Goals

Last year I made my list of New Year Goals, so I thought it would be fun to check back and see how far I got with them – and also come up with a few new ones for 2012!

ammo the dachshund new year party

P.S. this may look like my Birthday hat, but right now it’s doubling as my new years party hat!

LAST YEARS GOALS:

1. Take another agility class or maybe even COMPETE in agility. Sadly since my last agility class at the Dog Training Club of Chester County I haven’t been able to attend any new classes. Not because I didn’t want to, but because the training center hasn’t been offering any new agility classes that fit my busy schedule, so mom’s been looking into finding a new place for me to test out my agility skills this year, like this place. But I did try my hand at an agility course while I was at the Dog Days of Summer Event and I even tested out some moves at the dog park this year.

2. Actually win a race at the Dachshund Races this year. I did even better than win just one race this year, I won 3! and I even qualified for the Championship race, bringing home a respectable reserve champ ribbon! Go me!

3. Make MORE artwork. This year I created and shipped all over the World nearly 20 original pieces of art. Not bad for my first full year of being a real life artist!

4. Visit some nursing homes. I made several trips this year to visit the nursing home – HERE, HERE, and HERE. I even made some undocumented trips too! It’s great when I can make someone’s day a little bit happier with my happy wagging tail.

5. Perform more with the Trick Ponies. I added lots of new performances with the Trick Ponies to my calendar this year. I visited a school and made appearances at the Ludwigs Corner Horse Show and The Dog Days of Summer event to name a few.

6. Learn at least 10 new tricks. Ok well I might not have accomplished this “10 new tricks” goal, but I did add a few new ones to my repertoire. Which reminds me….I never shared them with you guys! So that will definitely have to be a future post.

7. Dress up more often. This one I have totally accomplished. I was a dressing up fool this year with my 12 days of Christmas, my rocket dog costume and even my Valentines Day outfit to name a few.

8. Go on vacation. Admittedly I don’t really go on vacation much, it’s hard to get a way when you have such a busy working calendar like me! But I did get to take a special trip this year to Assateague Island to visit the sand and surf (and some new friends) with my pony pals.

9. Try something new. This year I took my first trip on a motor boat at the Marsh Creek State park, I built a super fort while mom was away in Chincoteague, and I even did some relaxing by the pool for the first time. Oh yeah, and I watched a movie in the park this summer!

10. Giggle more. I giggle everyday, what about you?

2012 Goals:

1. Learn a new trick with my favorite pony, Minnow.

2. Compete in my first agility trial or take an agility class with a new club.

3. Make more home movies, featuring me!

4. Get more creative with my costumes.

5. Master some new tricks and share them on the blog.

6. Take pictures every month for my 2013 Calendar!

7. Make more DIY projects.

8. Paint more.

9. Dig more holes in the backyard.

10. Smile everyday!

So what about you? What are your goals for 2012? Do you think I can accomplish everything on my list by this time next year?

P.S. Don’t forget there is still time to enter my giveaway to win my 2012 Calendar!

Ammo’s Christmas Recap – part 1

I know you’ve all been waiting on the edge of your seats to hear about all the adventures I had this Christmas. Well wait no further, because part 1 is here! I had so much fun I had to break it up into TWO blog posts. So make sure you check back tomorrow to hear about the rest of my Christmas Adventure.

ammo the dachshund's christmas

First thing Christmas morning I headed out the farm to visit my FAVORITE pony friends.

ammo the dachshund's christmas

I didn’t come empty handed either, I brought them some carrots – the perfect Christmas morning treat.

ammo the dachshund's christmas

ammo the dachshund's christmas

And just to be sure they were PERFECT, I taste tested a few myself….only the best for my pony pals.

ammo the dachshund's christmas

Blitz agreed that they were a-OK.

ammo the dachshund's christmas

The ponies were also super excited because Santa had visited the farm too. Blitz told me he even got Blitzen’s autograph, and I’m so super jealous!

ammo the dachshund's christmas

ammo the dachshund's christmas

Minnow was ALMOST as skilled as me at opening his Christmas present from Santa.

ammo the dachshund's christmas

Boomerang said that I could help him open his Christmas present, on account of all my presents were still at home. Isn’t he sweet?

ammo the dachshund's christmas

I could hardly wait to head home and see what Santa had left for me under my tree!

Make sure you check back tomorrow to see what Santa brought me for Christmas!

Muddy Buddies

Last night when I was hanging out on the farm I decided that the ponies were looking a bit dusty. With all the rain we had on Tuesday the ponies had taken it upon themselves to roll like little piggies in all the mud puddles. I have to say I was a bit jealous I missed out on the fun.

ammo the dachshund brushing ponies

So, I did what any amazing farm dog would do, I decided to give my pony friends a good brushing.

ammo the dachshund brushing ponies

I readied my brush box with all the necessary tools.

ammo the dachshund brushing ponies

And I picked out the very best brushes for the job.

ammo the dachshund brushing ponies

All was going well until Minnow reminded me that I don’t have hands, nor am I tall enough to reach much past the ponies’ knees. Sigh. You win this one minnow……. you win this one.

Pony Jumper

Just because it’s called a “horse jump” doesn’t mean it’s any match for Super Ammo. (and I didn’t even have my super cape on!)

It’s ok to be jealous of my super jumping skills.

Home Sweet Home

Home. Work. Farm. That pretty much describes a good majority of my life. So I thought it would be fun to give you all a little “peek behind the curtain” and show you exactly where I spend my days & nights.

This is home – my quiet little street in the ‘burbs where I have my own doggie door, keep all my favorite toys, and get to take naps on the couch.

This is work, right smack dab in the center of town.

It’s where I spend my Tuesday through Saturday greeting customers.

I take my work very seriously and although sometimes you’ll catch me napping on the job, it’s usually just a ruse to get you to rub my belly. (I’m sneaky like that)

iron horse farm

This is the farm – my home away from home. It’s where I help train the trick ponies, do my chores, and play tag with Trooper and the kitties.

And if I’m truly showing you where I REALLY spend most of my time, there is one last photo I must divulge.

These are my groundhog holes. And I’m only showing you this because I KNOW you can keep a secret.

After all, there’s only one Super Dachshund fit to guard these holes, and it’s me!
