On Sunday we had our last event at Iron Horse Farm before winter. Me and Trooper helped out.
Ok fine, maybe we weren’t THAT helpful.

So….. maybe it’s his smiling face, or maybe I’ve just got more important things to do, whatever the case may be….I just can’t destroy my little squeaky toy.
So seeing as how it’s been 3 WEEKS since I announced my Doggie Prize Pack contest – I figured I shouldn’t delay any longer in choosing a winner (even if I haven’t eaten my little smiley face).
I don’t think anyone saw it coming that I’d keep him around this long – my mom is still shocked he’s alive. So instead of choosing a winner from the correct guesses (since there weren’t any), I decided to randomly choose the winner using random.org
Congrats to Jelly the Dachshund!!
Look for an e-mail from me, and I’ll get your Doggie Prize Pack sent over!
Thanks to all my guessers! Even if you didn’t win, don’t worry I have a special DISCOUNT for you in my ONLINE SHOP! Purchase anything (including any of the pony’s art) between now and Thanksgiving (November 25, 2010) and get a free set of two Christmas cards featuring me, Ammo the Dachshund! Your friends will be so jealous! Just write the code XMASAMMO in the notes to seller section at checkout.
Remember how I said that Cricket, the farm cat, was getting a new friend? Well on Halloween night we FINALLY got to bring our kitten home to the farm.
I read EVERYONE’S name suggestions, and thought long and hard about what would be a perfect name for the little kitten – and in the end – me and Cricket decided to name her SPIDER! You know, on account of that it was Halloween and all – no to mention boy can she climb!!
Please tell me she’s not cuter than me?
I just know me, Cricket and Spider are going to have lots of adventures together when she gets bigger!

Hopefully you read part 1 of my adventure.
What I haven’t told you about yet, was all the new friends I met!!
My new friends were exhausting, so it’s a good thing I had a cushy bed to go back to at the hotel.
On my last morning in Virginia I got to take a ride with my pal Minnow. Minnow gives the best rides!
And just when I thought my adventure might be coming to an end….I got to see this…
Amazing Grace, the trick mule (and winner of the 2008 talent contest). Don’t tell Minnow, but I have to admit, her basketball dunk WAS pretty cool. Although I bet Minnow could do it too if he really wanted.
Mules don’t eat Dachshund’s right?
Gracie was pretty cool I guess, but I still love my pony Minnow the best!
Well after a pretty awesome adventure in Virginia, I was pretty happy to be headed back to Pennsylvania. And just in time too….because look what arrived on Halloween night!
Don’t worry, I have lots of photos and videos to share of my new friend at the farm! 🙂
So, after hearing about my big win at the Equine Extravaganza, there are still a lot of details I left out of my big trip – like what I did when I wasn’t performing for the masses!
After driving for 6 plus hours on Friday (it was apparently only supposed to take 4) we arrived in the dark at the Meadow Event Park in Virginia. I had to wait patiently while my pal Minnow got his stall bedded and he was tucked in for the night. Then I got to check into the hotel where I was staying! yipee!
Of course one of the first things I had to do was check out my new digs, especially the bath tub. You all know how I love a hot bath!
After a good nights sleep I was up early and headed to the Event Park.
There was a lot of scrambling around on Saturday morning, readying props, getting dressed in costumes, and before I knew it I was running into the arena with my pal Minnow. (watch the video here).
Then after a lot of meet & greet with my fans and fellow competitors I took a much needed nap in the car while mom went to check out the rest of the expo (where apparently dogs weren’t allowed).
Then mom came back and I got to go for a walk with my friend Minnow.
Some of my very lucky fans even got to witness the “rarely seen” pony rubs dachshund’s belly – where Minnow helps a guy out and rubs my belly for me. Trust me, I don’t show this to everyone! (although my mom did catch it on film once.)
Later I took a little detour to check out the “facilities” at the park. I guess they meet my standards.
Then it was back to the hotel for the night.
But don’t worry, my adventure didn’t stop there! Check back tomorrow to learn about the rest of my trip!
As my facebook fans know, I’m back from my amazing trip to the Equine Extravaganza to compete in the talent contest with my pony pal, Chincoteague Minnow.
And guess what!!?? I came back as the winner! Well ok, Minnow & I are the winners!
Mom was kinda nervous for the performance, but Minnow & I knew exactly what we were doing. Just check it out for yourself:
We were up against some stiff competition….
But I think it was my adorableness that won the judges over. I also threw in a few extra moves of my own to really wow them too…..Like digging a REALLY REALLY big hole. I mean did you hear all the laughs I got? I have to admit I’m kinda bitter that the crowd clapped the loudest for Minnow & he won the super hero trophy…..I guess I can give him that one though, since it WAS a HORSE EXPO.
Not only did I win glory in the contest, but I also won the opportunity to have a private training session with Movie Star Animal Trainer, Doug Sloan. I can see myself now in a kibble commercial, or maybe the next marvel super hero movie! I mean after all the 2008 talent contest winner, Amazing Grace, became a movie star after she won! So hey, it could happen to me right?
But, even if I don’t become a super star, my mom said she’ll always be proud of me, and I don’t need a fancy movie role to be special.
And you know, my mom’s right. Because I perform to make people smile and laugh, and because it’s fun! (not to mention the chicken and cheese mom gives me is to die for!)
So maybe someday you will see me on the big screen, but if not, I’ll be just as happy to continue to make my fans smile.
P.S. I have lots more photos to share from my adventuresome weekend….so check back tomorrow….you can also head over to the Trick Ponies Blog to see more videos from my travels.
Ok so I know everyone is probably DYING to know how my performance went over the weekend (check out my facebook page for an update as to whether or not I won the contest). I PROMISE I will tell you EVERYTHING that happened during my trip…..but……seeing as how I knew I’d be zonked when I got home, I wrote this little post ahead of time so I’d be able to rest a little on Monday.
So you might have to wait another day, but don’t worry, I’ll have lots of pictures and adventures to share soon.
Now for today’s post…..
Right before my big trip, mom and I decided that I needed a little extra prop. And seeing as how I’m a super talented artist – it seemed fitting that I get my own Painters Berret. Afterall, all the cool artists have them.
So mom helped me fashion a piece of an old horse polo wrap into a super stylish berret for me. What do you think?
FYI it was really late and I was super tired. I’ll have to do a better photoshoot with my berret once I’m more awake. You can bet this is what I’m doing today as well, as I recover from my busy weekend.

While you’re reading this, I’m on my way to Doswell, Virginia for the weekend with my pal Minnow! Minnow and I are competing in a talent competition at the Equine Extravaganza.
I’m a little bit nervous, but I’ve been practicing a lot, so I’m super excited to show everyone what I can do!
A few years back a mule named Gracie won the talent contest. Gracie went on to star in a movie and even made a few TV appearances after winning the contest. Pretty cool, huh?
Now I don’t know about being a TV star, but I do know I can’t wait to make everyone laugh! Laughter is the best part about being a performing Dachshund. Well and the treats, lets not forget the treats.
I really like to look out into the audience and see lots of smiling faces! That’s why sometimes I like to add-lib in my performances. Les you forget when I stole the show away from my friend Minnow the Pony this summer during a performance in Virginia – where I decided to dig a GIANT hole in the arena while Minnow was doing his tricks!
Sneaky I know, but when the crowd burst out laughing…..it was totally worth it. Minnow forgave me later, we always kiss and make up.
So since I totally enjoy making everyone smile – I thought I’d share a little video of Me and Minnow practicing for our big show. It’s not the finished product – which I will be sure to tell you all about when I get back – but I think it should hold you till I get back!
P.S. You better be laughing!
Apparently life for me and my girlfriend, Cricket the farm cat, is about to change. We have been spending a lot of time together before it’s all different.
Because on Sunday, Cricket is getting a little sister!
I’m not sure how I feel about it. I mean now I have to SHARE Cricket. Yet on the other hand it could be fun to have a little kitten buddy to play with.
Actually, yes….yes it will be fun! I can teach the Kitten how to hunt, just like Cricket taught me when I was just a pup. And we can have super cool wrestling matches (I’ll always win of course). And maybe the kitten will teach me how to climb trees, since Cricket won’t! Maybe I’ll even get to be on another episode of Animal Planet’s America’s Cutest Cats! (A clip of me and my gal Cricket will air on Animal Planet on November 13th at 9PM EST)
Oh Boy, I’m really excited now!
Except for one problem. Mom said I can be in charge of giving my new kitten friend a name….only I can’t think of anything! So I need everybody’s help! Leave me a comment if you have some ideas of what I should name my new kitten.
Countdown till Sunday, when my Kitten buddy arrives! yeah!

I know you all are DYING to know what I’m going to be for Halloween. Me too!
See the things is, I’ve been so busy getting ready for my big performance this weekend that I forgot to get a new Halloween costume. I know, the horror! So I decided to dig through our box of Halloween goodies instead.
I didn’t get very far before I discovered my Dad’s Mullet wig from when he dressed up as Joe Dirt in college. I mean just look how cool he looked in it…..
Dad as Joe Dirt & Mom as “the bride” in Kill Bill
Except when I tried on the mullet wig I looked more like this…..
Yeah I know, it kinda lost the “mullet effect”.
I think I look more like a lion than a dude with a mullet.
So with my mullet idea shot, I was back to square one with the costume hunt. But then I remembered I had my costume from last year!
It’s my Dragon costume!! (or I guess Dinosaur however you look at it)
I must have bulked up my muscles since last year, because I don’t remember my dragon shirt being quite so tight….
Although I kinda like the skin-tight look…..how else am I supposed to show off my guns?
or maybe…….
I could be a Dragon with a Mullet!!?
ugh, you’re right….still looks like half lion half Dragon, but it could work? I look fierce!
Scratch that. I just look like a tool.
Maybe I’ll just have to enjoy Halloween in the costume I was born with this year…..
My BIRTHDAY SUIT!
You know you want a hug from a naked Dachshund!! I’m super cute! wink wink
So in conclusion…..I still don’t know what I’m being for Halloween….I guess you will have to wait until the big day to find out! Perhaps I’ll get lucky and find something worthy of being worn by a Super Doxie at the Horse Expo this weekend. You never know!
