Meet My Sister

So It’s been a little while since I’ve checked back in with all of you, but it’s been for a good reason! Many of you may have already seen the good news on Facebook, but on August 7, 2016 the newest member of my family made her long awaited appearance!

Meet Pyper!

While I couldn’t be there for the actual birth (apparently even well behaved dogs like myself aren’t allowed in the maternity ward at the hospital) Mom tells me she weighed 7lbs 7oz and was 21 inches long. That’s almost as long as me!

And from the day she was born she had these super long beautiful eyelashes, you know the kind only girls are supposed to have.

Nearly 2 months have passed since Pyper was born, and we’ve already gone on lots of adventures together. I can’t wait to share more about what we’ve been up to lately, but there’s a reason it’s taken me so long to even share with all of you on the blog that she’s finally here …

….sister never quite got the newborn memo that napping is fun! Obviously she doesn’t take after her big brother, but don’t worry, I’m trying my hardest to teach her how fun naps can be.

So while during the day my sister is up and ready for fun most of the time, she mostly gives me my beauty rest at night by sleeping 7 – 8 hours! But this also means Mom, Dad, and I are stretched pretty thin trying to get things done at the shop during the day (while also taking care of sister) as well as all the usual fun activities we like to do that take up time.

I plan to share more of our adventures with all of you soon, but it just may take me a little longer than normal to keep the blog updated at a regular pace. But incase you were still missing your daily dose of Ammo, I have been, and always will be updating my Instagram and Facebook Pages. So make sure you’re following me on there! Ammo the Dachshund // Blog Signature // Celebrity

Minnow goes to New Bolton

Chincoteague Pony, Minnow, visits New Bolton // Ammo the Dachshund

On Monday I arrived at the farm early to take my pal Minnow on a special outing.

Mom said Minnow was headed to the New Bolton Center, an internationally renowned large animal hospital, in other words the VET!

When we arrived I had to wait in the car, which was perfectly fine with me because going to the Vet is not my idea of a good time anyway.

Mom said Minnow was very brave, much braver than I am at the vet, as he got his 5 year check-up for Ringbone (which I’m told is arthritis in his ankle).

Minnow even got radiographs done of his legs, and I heard he didn’t even need to be drugged!

Minnow told me later that he kept looking over his shoulder wondering when I would come in to hold his hoof and make him feel better about being poked and prodded. I knew no one could be that brave at the vet!

Minnow’s radiographs showed how much of a Super Hero he really is – as his bones have been trying to fuse together over the past 5 years to alleviate pain in his joint. In other words, he’s growing a bionic leg!

When we got back to the barn Boomer and Blitz were waiting for us, and I told them all about how brave our Super Minnow was and all about his bionic leg.

And incase you’re wondering about Minnow’s prognosis…..he and I still have many more years of superness ahead!

Nurse

I’ve been very busy playing nurse lately.

My Dad had to have knee surgery on Tuesday because of a torn meniscus. I’m not really sure what all that means, but I do know that I have to take my job as Nurse Ammo very seriously.

Someone has to make sure he heals properly so that I have someone to play fetch with in the backyard again.

Don’t tell him, but secretly I’m hoping that he can’t stop itching licking his wound – because then I’d be forced to make him wear the cone of shame.

What? It’s for his own good!
