So I decided to GIVEAWAY one of my very own pieces of scratch art! I made it with my very own paws! This particular piece is called White Dachshund No. 11 and I created it by scratching onto a specially prepared surface that my mom helped me make. It’s on a mauve acid free matboard background – matted in blue to fit an 11×14 frame. Trust me, this thing is a beauty in person! Super Dog and Super Fort

I’ve been hanging out in my Super Fort all week while my mom and Minnow are in Chincoteague. And yesterday I  finally got to talk to my mom on the phone, and she said Minnow has been working very hard performing at the Pony Centre all week. She even e-mailed me this picture of Minnow being all…..Super!

Apparently he’s been drinking a lot of this:

And after I hung up with mom and headed back to my Super Fort, I realized something was missing.

P.S. Mom, if you are reading this – it was Minnow II and Ammo II that unrolled all the toilet paper in the bathroom….I swear I told them not to!

Super Fort!

Remember when I told you yesterday that my pal Minnow and my Mom left me all week to go have fun on Chincoteague Island without me? And remember how sad I was? Well, I decided to make the most of my time alone all week at home – and I did what anyone in my situation would do……I built a fort in the basement!

Welcome, to my Super Fort!

The Super Fort is quite awesome, and I even brought along a soda for later.

I was really having a good time in my Super Fort, but then I started to miss my Mom and Minnow again. That’s where Minnow II comes in.

Minnow II looks just like the real Minnow! And the best part is that he doesn’t even slobber on me when he gives me kisses!

The real Minnow – see, almost as good as the real thing!

Anyway, Minnow II said he’d play cards with me – on account of I was all lonely at home.

Oh, and to my left is Ammo II – I decided it’s always best to have Dachshund’s outnumber ponies when you are playing cards.

I might have lost the card game and thrown a little temper tantrum. But in my defense, I think Minnow II cheated.

Ex-Assistant

This is my favorite pony, Minnow.

minnow the painting pony

Minnow is a famous painter, so famous, that every year he gets invited to return to his roots and visit Chincoteague Island for the annual Pony Penning, and paint for the thousands of visitors to the island.

But, instead of taking me as his assistant, he took my mom. Which (boo hoo) is exactly why I refused to help him paint right before he left!

See, that’s me, refusing to help.

And if you need further proof, here’s me pretending to sleep so I won’t have to help him pack for his trip either.

I’m not sure if I can make it all week without my momma. And even worse……I don’t get to go to the farm either! What am I gonna do!?

P.S. Minnow, if you are reading this, you better bring me back something good!

Summer on the Farm

Today I thought I’d share a few images from my evening on the farm – shot yesterday. Everyday is an adventure, and there is no shortage of things to do on the farm in the Summer. Arguably it’s not your average farm, especially when it’s run by a bunch of Super Heroes with an active imagination. You’re never to old to play dress-up, catch bugs, or in my case – build underground forts. I don’t plan on ever growing up. How about you?

New Art: Stormy Sea

Tada! Over the weekend I finished up a fabulous new watercolor painting! I give you “Stormy Sea” created by yours truly. I’m taking a liberty here and giving myself a gold star for the day. Yeah, it’s that good!

I was so excited to be painting again, that I might have done some yelling. Ok, I definitely did some yelling.

What are you looking at? Never seen a Dachshund in a beret?

Dashing isn’t it? I know you wish you had one too.

You can purchase this beauty, “Stormy Sea” in my online shop!

P.S. Don’t forget I donate 5% of my sales to Charitable Organizations. Yeah!

How to Survive traveling with Ponies

When you spend your time with a bunch of famous ponies, sometimes you are required to spend long hours on the road with them. It’s not the best situation (IE – where is my pillow and my favorite toys?), but there are lots of things you can do to make it your home away from home. Here are a few things I just can’t live without when I’m traveling with the ponies…

Number 1: If you must be tied up, make sure you have access to a nice sunning spot. Grass is preferred, but I’ve been known to compromise.

Number 2: a nice comfy dog bed out of the sun (for when it just gets too hot to bare) is a must. I of course use my designer dog bed from Molly Mutt tucked away in my little corner in the trailer tack room.

Number 3: A fan! Mom hooked me up with this battery powered fan, and let me tell you, it-is-heaven on a hot day!

Number 4: ONLY travel with ponies who make you look good! I tell my ponies that they better bring home the BLUE ribbon – or else no kisses from me!

ok fine.

they get kisses either way because I love them.

but don’t tell them I said that!

Unicorn Appreciation Day!

Remember how my friend Baxter the Dachshund told me that Wednesday was Unicorn Appreciation Day? And remember how I set out to catch my own Unicorn with some glitter? Well, now that it’s Wednesday, I bet you are all wondering if I was able to catch my Unicorn friend?

I had to wait a really really really long time with my glitter bait.

Even Cricket got bored of waiting – she thought maybe if she played dead the Unicorn would come to save her. It didn’t work out like she planned (don’t worry, she didn’t really die).

But then, after waiting for DAYS, I heard something off in the distance.

“Are you my Unicorn?” – Me

“Why yes, I came because I smelled your glitter” – Unicorn

“But how do I know you are a Unicorn” – Me

And then I looked up and it was GLORIOUS!

My Unicorn had come at last, and he was more spectacular than I imagined!

I gave him lots and lots of kisses and told him I was happy he came to the Unicorn Appreciation Day. I wished he could stay forever, but he said he had to get back to the magical forest.

Although he did leave some magical Unicorn poop behind for me as a souvenir. I’m soooo lucky!

Unicorn Huntin’

My pal Baxter the Dachshund says that it’s Unicorn Appreciation Day on Wednesday. Baxter has already started trying to catch his Unicorn in his backyard to bring to the Appreciation Day. He’s super smart, so I’m sure he’ll have no problem catching one, he even thought up some really cool bait to catch his Unicorn with – like Watermelon, Glitter, and even Beans.

Since Baxter looked like he was having so much fun trying to catch his Unicorn, I told my mom I wanted to catch my own for Unicorn Appreciation Day too.

Luckily the Painting Ponies had a stash of glitter on hand at the farm. Gotta love a pony that keeps glitter in their locker.

I spread out some of my glitter by some pretty flowers on the farm. I figured if Unicorns like glitter, then they probably like flowers too.

Now comes the hard part, waiting for my Unicorn to show up….

Just in case I also started digging a Unicorn hole – you know – should Unicorns live underground. Hey, you never know!

Friday Fetch: Papercut Pet Portrait

In honor of me being a painter now, I thought I’d share another artist with you today. Check out these super cool custom pet portraits. I think Lemon Drop Land would totally be worthy of making a special portrait of yours truly – complete with super hero cape (P.S. my Birthday is in October!)

To create the papercut, I’ll begin with a sketch of the (fairly high resolution) photo that you email me. Once I’m happy with the likeness and “feel,” I’ll slice the image out of subtly textured, sturdy, acid-free, highly light-resistant, 60% cotton papers, ensuring a long life without deterioration. Each piece is signed and dated.

You can fetch your favorite pet’s portrait for $200 at Lemon Drop Land on Etsy.

And if you just so happen to own a Boxer then you are in luck! Pre-cut Boxer portrait – $80 at Lemon Drop Land. I’m a little jealous that it’s not a Dachshund!

P.S. You can also LIKE LemondropLand over on Facebook.
