It’s no secret that my pal Minnow, The Painting Pony, will be attending the PA Horse World Expo at the end of February. This is one of the largest Horse Expos in the country and Minnow is going to be right smack dab in the middle of the expo floor to meet his fans and paint amazing pictures.
Not being one to be left behind often, I too will be making an appearance at the Expo this year. I’m going to try not to steal the show from Minnow, put my amazing super hero stunts and my stunning good looks cannot always be helped.
So if you are in the Harrisburg, PA area February 23 – 26th be sure to come visit me at booth #607 & 608 at the Pa Horse World Expo. I’ll try to make sure I take my mid-day nap before you come!
Weekend projects around my house tend to always involve a do-it-yourself mentality.
And on this particular weekend, mom’s d.i.y. project to update the office took over my sunroom.
Even though my sunning space was suddenly way more crowded, I was thrilled when mom said I could help, because as you know I’m really really good at helping.
However, when the paint roller proved to be too difficult for my cumbersome paws I decided to improvise….
….sadly mom didn’t think it was such a good idea and I was promptly relinquished from my duties as helper boy.
You know you want a big sloppy dachshund kiss from your favorite super hero!
Come meet me today and tomorrow at the Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show ! Minnow & I are going to be doing tricks all day long!
You can catch us on Saturday from 10 – 2pm (Minnow will do a special painting at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm) and on Sunday from 11 – 4pm (Minnow will do a special painting at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm).
It’s no surprise that I spend my time with a bunch of famous painting ponies. And when mom announces “it’s a painting day”, she really means it’s a painting DAY. As in I have to spend ALL day hanging around the farm while the ponies put their brushes to work.
Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing them create masterpieces, but all day can get kind of tiring.
But, the ponies always make sure everyone has a good time. Like Boomerang, who tells the best jokes when he’s painting – they even make him giggle!
At the end of the day, the best part is always the clean-up. Well, at least it is for little doxies that love to lick the floor clean of spilled cheerios and the ponies’ sweet feed.
You can check out all of the ponies’ masterpieces from our day of painting on their Blog.
P.S. Make sure you tell them that I sent you – so maybe next time they’ll leave a few extra cheerios on the floor for me!
Tada! Over the weekend I finished up a fabulous new watercolor painting! I give you “Stormy Sea” created by yours truly. I’m taking a liberty here and giving myself a gold star for the day. Yeah, it’s that good!
I was so excited to be painting again, that I might have done some yelling. Ok, I definitely did some yelling.
What are you looking at? Never seen a Dachshund in a beret?
Dashing isn’t it? I know you wish you had one too.
You can purchase this beauty, “Stormy Sea” in my online shop!
P.S. Don’t forget I donate 5% of my sales to Charitable Organizations. Yeah!
Secretly I have been working on a little project for the past few weeks. Yes, it’s true, Super Dogs sometimes have to go into their super bat caves and work on new projects. But now I’m ready to reveal it!
You might remember that I spend a lot of my time with a couple of famous Painting Ponies. The ponies have sold artwork all over the World, and I have to admit I’m a little bit jealous of their painting skills, especially my pal Minnow.
In my family, everyone is an artist. The ponies paint using acrylics, my dad is a graphic designer, and my mom is an artist and picture framer. Me? Well I started making scratch art last May. Using my paws I scratch Dachshund shapes and other fun things onto specially created boards. And while I love making scratch art – which has sold all around the World – it’s not really painting. How am I supposed to be an honorary member of Painting Pony when I don’t paint?
So I decided it was high time I started working on my own painted masterpieces. Now you all know I like to be a little different. How many Super Hero Dachshunds do you know? So I couldn’t just pick up a paint brush and start making paintings – I gotta stand out from my Painting Pony friends.
So with the help of my mom I made my very first watercolor painting on June 10th 2011!
My first painting, titled, “My Sunshine”
My mom helps me by putting watercolor onto the paper and then the rest is up to me. Digging, Scratching, even dancing – I mix those paints into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece!
I think it’s probably safe to say that I’m the World’s First Dachshund Watercolor Artist – beat that ponies!
Now with this great talent comes great responsibility (hehe had to throw in the Super Hero Reference there) – so with the sale of every one of my paintings I am donating 5% to some of my favorite charities. (Main Line Animal Rescue, Coast-to-Coast Dachshund Rescue, SPCA). My Painting Pony Friends also donate money to their favorite charities with the sale of their work – and over the years we have donated hundreds of dollars to animal rescue groups. Yeah for helping animals in need, because that’s what Super Heroes do!
Right now I only have one available work for sale. After all, you can’t rush perfection – and I like to take my time in creating my one-of-a-kind paintings. But don’t worry, there will be more in the future – and I’m also totally game for custom commissions!
“Backyard Bliss” by Ammo the Dachshund, June 18, 2011. Available for purchase here. One of a kind!
To see more of my art work as it becomes available check out my online shop that I share with the Painting Ponies. I’ll also be sure to let all my fans know whenever I have a new painting available for sale on the blog!
And in case you don’t believe me that I’m a REAL painter, here’s a video that my mom helped me make.
Now if you’ll excuse me, this super hero has some painting to do!
If I wasn’t a shop dog, I’d totally be able to get a job as a janitor. No crumb uneaten, no floors unlicked, I’d make the place spotless!
That’s why when the ponies are done painting for the day they call me in.
I find every little speck of dropped grain!
Boy those ponies are wasteful!
Now that my belly’s full with pony grain, I think I’ll head out to the pasture. I’m sure the ponies have left some stinky presents for me out there. They’re very thoughtful like that.
Check out what my pony friends painted over on the Trick Ponies Blog.
