How I Spent My Christmas

So I’m back from my mini holiday vacation, and I don’t know about you, but mine wasn’t far long enough!

And while I very much enjoyed “unplugging” for a bit, I just couldn’t wait to share with you all the adventures I had while I was gone. I have so much to share from hiking trips, to airplane rides, and adventures with friends, but before I get to all that, lets start off where I left off….Christmas Eve!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

So on Christmas Eve, after I finished working a 1/2 day at the shop with mom, it was time for a little adventure.

First stop on my adventure, was a pit-stop at the Pretzel Factory. My only gripe, they didn’t sell dog cookies.

But not to worry, because we arrived at my local Pet Valu just in time to do a little pre-Christmas shopping.

And guess who was doing some last minute shopping himself? That’s right, I got to whisper my Christmas list into Good Old St. Nick’s ear on Christmas Eve! And he assured me that I didn’t make the naughty list……phew!

And boy was he right, because when I awoke on Christmas morning there was a whole pile of goodies under the tree for me!

I’m pretty much an expert at present unwrapping, and I wasted no time diving right into my gifts!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

The first item to reach my wrath – my December Barkbox! And just like every other month it has arrived at my doorstep, it did not disappoint!

And if your pup is wishing it received these goodies (plus the adorable bandana you’ll see me wearing later), don’t worry, you have until January 10th to snag your pup a Barkbox for 10% off with code AMMO5

Under my tree was also this super cool Himalayan dog chew with a Ruffhides wrap from the Barkshop.

Curses that Ruffhides wrap really slowed down my chewing, to which mom said yay! and I said aw man!

Santa must have been peeking over my shoulder when I was in Pet Valu on Christmas Eve, because he snagged me one of these mini Benebones….my favorite!

My mom and dad also got me one of these nifty travel bags for my dog food from Harry Barker – I can’t wait to take it along on my next camping trip!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

They also got me a package of my very favorite treats, these organic chicken treats from Plato.

Santa also brought me a couple of lounge collars in my favorite color teal, so I can keep a few in all my favorite places – the farm and the shop.

And last but not least, my friends at Chewy.com sent me these Texas Toothpicks. They are made from pure beef tail and provide both a crunchy and chewy treat that help keep teeth and gums clean. So while I’m munching away on a tasty treat – I can feel good knowing my teeth are getting sparkly clean!

After a fun morning at home with my family I packed up and headed out to the farm.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

I was so excited to spend Christmas day on the farm with my pal Trooper, especially because he FINALLY moved into his new house!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Of course I couldn’t show up to my buddy’s house empty handed, I also brought along a few goodies for him too like a Ruffhides Chew toy just for him.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper needed a little help breaking it in though, so like the best friend that I am, I offered to show him how it’s done. I’m so sweet like that.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

I also gifted my buddy this handmade pet id tag from Tag Me Pet Tags, which I had custom made with his name and the farm logo on it – on account of that he now officially lives on the farm.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper really loved it, and if you want to snag your pup one too you can use code HOLLYAMMO for 10% off your next purchase.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

The best part about spending Christmas day on the farm though, that my furry little pony friends were just right outside the door.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

It made it that much more special that I could spend time with all of my friends on Christmas day.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Before my holiday festivities could come to an end I packed up at the farm and headed over to my MomMom & PopPop’s house for some more fun with all my cousins and Aunts & Uncles.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

I had a blast opening presents with my family.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

And even took a few selfies with my cousins!

P.S. Santa if you’re reading this, I really want a pair of those spiffy storm trooper & darth vadar pajamas next year too!

Happy Holidays friends! Ammo the Dachshund

Sleepypod Pendants Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Sleepypod Pendants are made of jewelry-grade, 100% stainless steel or 18k gold-plated metal. They chose to use stainless steel and gold as the base metals because they are hypoallergenic and do not harbor germs. The pendants are available in small and medium sizes in six shapes: Sheep, Chick, Lion, Whale, Elephant, and Stegosaur.

These ID tags aren’t your average tag, these things are built to last – boasting a 2mm thickness. I should know after I tested their durability down a couple of groundhog holes already!

I chose the small whale in stainless steel and the medium stegosaur in stainless steel.

The larger tags would be great for bigger breed dogs, or they can also be attached to a harness, leash, or even a pet carrier. You can even choose to hang them around your neck as a charm or even use them on your keyring.

All the tags are engraveable on the back with 2 lines and up to 15 characters. I had mine engraved with my name and telephone number.

DIY Dog id Tag

Some of you might remember my stylish mustache id tag that I got for Christmas this year. Now don’t get me wrong, it was super cool, but there was one tiny problem…..the curly mustache loops kept getting caught on my blankies.

So I decided to re-gift my id tag to mom – who is now carrying it around on her key chain. I’m pretty thoughtful like that. Now even though mom believed my “re-gift” was very nice, she said I still needed to have some sort of identification (even if I am micro-chipped).

So since we’re cheap resourceful, mom and I decided to try and D.I.Y a dog tag for me! Honestly, I tried to help, but you try holding a needle and thread in a pair of paws! Since I couldn’t do a whole lot of “helping”, instead I’ll share with you how to DIY an ID Tag for your favorite pooch (or kitty, or pony, or lizard).

D.I.Y PET ID TAG

Supplies: Fabric or Ribbon, Needle, Thread, Floss, Scissors

Step 1: Cut a piece of fabric or ribbon to a size slightly larger than you want your tag to be. It’s helpful to use a light colored fabric so you can draw your design on it with a disappearing fabric pen, or you could use a dark fabric with ribbed lines on it as a guide.

Step 2: Choose a needle and thread. Using a Floss is better because it’s thicker and will show up better.

Step 3: If using a light fabric use a disappearing fabric pen to write your pet’s name and phone number onto the fabric. If you choose you can also mark off the area you want to stitch in with white artist’s tape.

Step 4: Begin sewing your letters/numbers by follow the guides you have drawn on the fabric.

Step 5: When you are done you can hem up the sides to make your overall id tag smaller using a sewing machine.

Step 6: Wrap it around your dog’s collar and hand stitch it into place.

And then as if by magic your buddy will go from looking like this:
