My New Studio

Photo Studio with Ammo the Dachshund

The other day mom set up a little photo studio for me in the spare room at my house. So I figured why not give it a little whirl? What could go wrong?

Photo Studio with Ammo the Dachshund

It started off innocently enough – I’m such a natural in front of the camera that mom says it’s hard to take a bad photo of me.

But then we started busting out some props (more like whatever mom could grab in arm’s length), and I should of known right then that things would take a turn for the worse.

And before I knew it I was wearing women’s accessories!

If you are new to this blog then I better set things straight right now, I AM A BOY! (despite what these photos may suggest).

Fashion Show with my Friends Mattie & Margot

Disclaimer: This review is brought to you by Mattie & Margot.

Mattie & Margot Collars // Ammo the Dachshund

Have you heard of Mattie & Margot? If not, then you are missing out my friend. Makers of stylish handmade dog collars, Mattie & Margot carry every color under the sun, and they’re just what I needed to brighten up my summer!

Mattie & Margot Collars // Ammo the Dachshund

I purchased one of Mattie & Margot’s Mystery Collars (in yellow) and received this sunny Yellow Gold collar – isn’t it happy? With their Mystery Collars you can choose a color range for $16 or let it be a total surprise for $12 – what a great deal!

Mattie & Margot Collars // Ammo the Dachshund

And because Rachael (the expert sewing machine operator behind Mattie & Margot) knew that us farm dogs always need a back-up collar, she sent along this snazzy Bluebird/Navy Collar too.

Mattie & Margot Collars // Ammo the Dachshund

I’m still not sure which one I will stink up first on the farm, it’s a tough call.

I was looking so fine in my new collars that my kitty pal Spider got a little jealous. Too bad for her they don’t come in kitty sizes!

But for all you canines out there, I’m sure there’s a Mattie & Margot Collar just for you, they even come in a new miniature size! Which one would you choose?

Baseball, Huskies, and First Aid Kits

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

Over the weekend I took a trip to one of the local baseball fields in my town.

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

I practiced running the bases (you know for when I hit a home run), and found myself wishing I hadn’t left my baseball glove at home.

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

And just when I thought my baseball team was only going to consist of me and my shadow…..my pal Shilah showed up!

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

Shilah (being the puppy that she is) didn’t really have the attention span to play a game of baseball with me, so we decided to take a walk around the park instead.

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

We sniffed for buried treasures, and I showed Shilah how fast I can run! (It’s really really fast incase you were wondering)

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

And when we were done with our adventure at the park I invited Shilah back to my house for a cookout!

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

Back at my house we had fun romping in the backyard, and I even let Shilah borrow my mom and her camera. Sometimes even celebrities like me need to share their paparazzi.

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

Shilah is quite the looker isn’t she?

Then, right before dinner we had to break out my pet first aid kit for a little uh oh!

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

See Shilah had been so busy playing in the backyard that she didn’t even notice that she had broken a toenail (those silly girls and their long nails).

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

Not to worry though, Shilah’s mommy took great care in doctoring her up. We cleaned it up and applied some antibiotic ointment.

Ammo and Shilah // Ammo the Dachshund

Shilah had to spend the rest of the evening in my xpen “resting”, but I know she’ll be back for a visit in no time and we’ll be romping around in the backyard again hunting for treasures and rolling in stink. Maybe I’ll buy her a nail file for Christmas. *wink*

Happy 6th Birthday to Trooper!

Trooper as a Puppy // Ammo the Dachshund

Today is my best friend Trooper’s 6th Birthday!

Trooper and Ammo // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper has been by my side since I was just a wee pup. He taught me everything I know, and protected me when I was too tiny to do so myself. In the past 6 years we’ve had so many adventures, and I can’t wait for all the fun that is still yet to come!

Today I’m going under cover. Sometimes a dog just needs a little getaway.

Snuggled up in my favorite blankie – I’m relaxing today. No big adventures, no time for hunting bunnies in the backyard – just a day to catch up on my sleep!

A Dachshund’s Art Gallery

Since I was just a wee pup I was instilled with a love of the arts. Not only do I paint myself, but I live with some super talented Painting Ponies! And while you might think having animal artists in the family is quite a feat, my mom and dad are no stranger to the arts themselves. My dad is a graphic designer (who spends his free time designing posters that you can purchase HERE) and my mom is a picture framer (check out the shop where I work HERE).

With a love of art spreading across my family, it’s no wonder that my home has turned into an art gallery of sorts. I thought it would be fun to take you for a tour around my home and show you some of the latest and greatest artistic treasures that are currently making my home just a bit more cheerful!

A Dachshund's Art Gallery // Ammo the Dachshund

When I attended the Spring Doxie Fest this year I picked up a happy little Dachshund print from artist, Debbie Sampson. Of course mom framed him up in a happy yellow frame that makes him extra cheerful!

Back in November mom picked up this cute little dachshund print from Kim at Yellow Brick Home. He kind of has an uncanny resemblance to yours truly.

This happy horse head was a Christmas gift to my mom and came from White Faux Taxidermy – and not to worry, he’s completely made of resin (no real taxidermy horses here).

Of course the ceramic dachshund my mom found at Home Goods last year keeps Mr. Fake Pony company in my office, because everything is better with the buddy system.

A Dachshund's Art Gallery // Ammo the Dachshund

These two pieces arrived around Christmas time. One being a rendering of my home by the talented Rebekkah Seale and the other a very special original painting of cows done by the ever amazing Janis Fitch.

Those cows just remind me of how lucky I am to have grown up in farm country, where the smell of cattle and horses are just a few steps out my backdoor. Not to mention those yummy cow pies!

A Dachshund's Art Gallery // Ammo the Dachshund

And the last little art trinket is one that just makes me giggle – this sweet little screen printed squirrel from the Land of Nod (meant to be an ornament) is happily hanging on my cork board in the living room. He may not nibble on acorns in real life, but he reminds me that there are plenty of critters just out my back door begging to be chased. Happy Hunting!

A Dachshund's Art Gallery // Ammo the Dachshund

With all these artists and artistic pieces in my home it’s no wonder that I spend most of my life with a camera in my face. Of course I like to think that I’ll always be mom and dad’s number one muse!

I’m always on the lookout for new artists and art to add to my “gallery”, so I’d love to hear which ones you are admiring currently! Post your links in the comments so we can all check out some amazing art together! Yay for artists!
