And the icing on the cake in my bowl, Aussie Naturals leather egg and bacon toys. Sadly they don’t taste like their counterparts, but they do squeak and I had a blast tearing them apart!

Throwback Thursday: Spring Mud

With today being the official first day of Spring I thought it would be appropriate to share a throwback video of me getting as dirty as possible on the farm. You know, in honor of all the springtime mud thats here!

It’s not Spring unless you get dirty!

Throwback Thursday: Puppy Entertainment

When you’re an “only sibling” you sometimes have to learn to entertain yourself. Even at a young age I learned how to play fetch by myself….

Of course it’s always fun to have someone to play with! Does your dog sometimes play by himself too? Ammo the Dachshund

Throwback Thursday: A Dog and his Kitten

spider the kitten

My cat pal Spider has been living on the farm for several years now and over the years I have gotten to watch her grow into the cat that she is today – all thanks to me. It’s true, when she was just a wee little kitten I taught her all of the important things to know….

Like how to chew on sticks….

and climb trees….

Without me she would be lost! Ammo the Dachshund

Big Blizzard

2014 Blizzard with Ammo the Dachshund

Last Thursday when I awoke there was a whole lot of snow outside my door. As in 15+ inches of fluffy white stuff!

Of course the first thing I did was pile on my jackets and head outdoors to catch some snowflakes!

Running like a crazy dog through the snow was totally worth being chilly for just a few minutes. So fun in fact, that I headed out to the farm for some more winter adventures with my ponies!

Even the ponies had fun in the snow!

Despite the inches upon inches of snow we received (and keep continuing to receive), I just can’t get on board with “snow bashing”. It might be cold and wet, difficult for mom and dad to shovel, and somewhat of a hazard – but when else do you get to make memories like these? Snowday fun is just the kind of adventures I needed this winter!

How about you, do you enjoy snow day adventures as much as me?

Valentine's Day DIY Flirt Pole - interactive dog toy // Ammo the Dachshund

Just in time for Valentine’s Day I have a simple and easy DIY that your dog is going to love! My DIY Flirt Pole is an interactive dog toy that entices your dog to chase a fast moving lure. The Flirt Pole is quickly becoming my absolute favorite toy to play with. It’s also a great way to exercise high-energy dogs – and if you have been snowed in for as long as I have this is a must!

Supplies:

Step One: If you want your flirt pole to be extra colorful you may want to paint it. I painted mine to have a silvery finish.

Step Two: Once your paint is dry twist a screw eye into one end of it.

Step Three: Cut your fleece into two 25″ x 5″ strips. Alternatively you could also use an old stuffed toy that your dog loves as well.

Step Four: Tie your rope around the middle of your fleece strips.

Step Five: Braid the ends of your fleece and tie it in a knot at the bottom.

Step Six: Tie the other end of your rope to the screw eye on your dowel. You’re now ready to have a blast playing with your dog!

Throwback Thursday: A Puppy’s First Trip to the Beach

Road Trip with Ammo - Dog Friendly Beaches in Isle of Palms, South Carolina

My love affair with the ocean started when I was just about a year old. For me it was love at first sight. How can you not love a place that has beaches for miles just begging to be dug up or waves that bring ashore critters to hunt and chase?

Check out this video from my very first encounter with the ocean just after I had celebrated my first birthday!

Do your pups enjoy the ocean too? Ammo the Dachshund

Sledding with the Ponies

Sledding with the Ponies // Ammo the Dachshund

Over the weekend I decided to go on a sledding adventure at the farm. So I grabbed my favorite ponies (Minnow, Blitz and Boomer) and hitched them to a sled for some fun!

Trooper and I had a blast chasing the sleds – we even made it a little friendly competition out of who could get there first. (it was me incase you were wondering)

Dad even broke out his snowboard for a little more “extreme” fun. We’re a little unconventional around here.

You can bet I’ll be doing some sledding again real soon!

Throwback Thursday: Tail Chasing

I’ve always been quite good at entertaining myself, even when I was a young pup I found many ways to amuse myself while working long hours at the shop with mom.

And when you don’t have a toy on hand, there’s always a built in one on your own back end!

I was about 6 months old in this video, and to this day I still like chasing my tail sometimes!

Does your dog chase his tail?

Muddy Ponies // Ammo the Dachshund

Over the weekend I visited my ponies on the farm. It was muddy and wet and oh so much fun!

I even had a little fun digging for critters!
