Over the weekend mom and I arrived at the farm to find a celebration! Mom said it was a baby shower for my soon-to-be little sister, although the way I saw it was a celebration of me becoming a big brother!
It was the perfect combination of ponies….
….and food! (My favorite).
Of course it wouldn’t have been a celebration if I didn’t break of my bowtie! The brother-to-be always has to look his best.
Even though my buddy Minnow was just outside in the pasture, we certainly had to include him in the festivities too. So he was inside in spirit for a pin-the-baby-on-the-pony game.
Eventually it was time for my favorite part of the day! Opening presents!
I’m an expert at gift unwrapping and I was super excited to see what all my friends and family brought to celebrate my “becoming a big brother”.
There were lots of sweet dachshund (and pony) related gifts that were opened but I was starting to realize why mom said it was a “baby shower”.
Eventually Trooper and I started to loose interest in the baby gear so I decided to checkout what fun games there might be for me to play instead.
I was in luck, because not only was there was a stinky inspired game just for me, but it also included candy bars in a “guess which candy bar/dirty diaper game”. I may or may not have gotten in big trouble for trying to steal one of them! 😉
I sulked for a bit about not being involved as much as I would have liked in this “baby shower”, but mom told me not to worry…
…for she says soon I’ll have to test all the baby gear for my sister before she comes. And something tells me mom and dad will be practicing carrying me around in this baby carrier pretty soon!
After the shower I helped gift all our special friends these cute little horse shoes to show how much I appreciated them coming to celebrate my little sister.
Mom, Dad, Minnow, Me and Boomerang (who just happened to be in another pasture for this picture) are super excited for my little sister to get here! I can’t wait to show her where all the groundhog holes are on the farm, she’s going to love it!
Do you include your dog in family gatherings and parties?
Even thought Christmas has come and gone, I haven’t forgotten about sharing just what sort of adventures I went on during my holiday break! So here’s my fun recap of all things Christmasy…
My Christmas eve started off pretty uneventful, as I still had to fulfill my shop dog duties for all the customers that needed to pick up their picture framing.
But eventually it was time to head over to Trooper’s house at the farm so that I could celebrate with him and my extended family.
I got busy right away helping to clean up around the kitchen. (apparently Trooper is slacking on his floor licking duties).
But elsewhere, the tree decorating fun was well underway! (and let’s be honest, my 6 foot 3 Uncle Taylor was much more suited for putting the angel on top than short little me)
The rest of the night consisted of gift giving, sock stealing (on Trooper’s part), good times with my family, and maybe just a few naps too. Before I knew it, it was time to head home so that Santa could bring me some presents!
When I woke on Christmas morning I was so excited! Honestly, I wasn’t sure if Santa would bring me anything after I caught that bunny in the backyard, and got on the dining room table to steal food (oops). But I guess my “goodness” outweighed the bad this year, because he brought me lots of fun presents!
From a December Barkbox filled with fun treats and toys….
My favorite new toy though, the Bouncing Squirrel Tail mom and dad bought me from the Barkshop! (you can snag one for your pup from the Barkshop with code AMMO for a FREE PRIZE at checkout). I’ve been having a blast with my new toy over the past few weeks!
Christmas is always an exciting whirlwind, and just as things were winding down mom and dad said we had to get ready to go to my MomMom & PopPop’s house.
I always love going to MomMom & PopPop’s house, because without fail, PopPop always manages to “drop” food on the floor. 😉
There was also plenty of time for more gift giving and playing with my cousins too (who coincidently also LOVED my new Bouncing Squirrel Tail too).
Christmas with my family is always a special time. Despite my excitement about all the gifts and food, my very favorite part is getting to be with the one’s I love.
Of course if you know me and my family, then you know that even though Christmas was over, the fun never stops at my house. The day after Christmas I was hitting the hiking trail with more of my family! After all, we had to burn off all those Christmas dinner calories we had the day before!
I’m already counting down the days until next Christmas! What sort of fun did you have for the holiday?
Yay! It’s time for my holiday gift guides! I know you’ve got a special dog or dog lover in your life that you’re stumped on what to get them. Well have no fear! I’ve got the best collection of gift ideas for all your friends.

The Christmas festivities have come and gone, but I’m still reminiscing about all the fun I had with friends and family.
I kicked off the festivities on Christmas eve with a trip to Trooper’s house!
Trooper and I had a blast opening gifts with our family, and I even gifted Trooper a new reflective vest and collar to wear during hunting season on the farm.
Between the both of us we opened up some fun new toys like this Pickle for Trooper and a new Kong toy for me. Needless to say I confiscated both of them….for testing purposes of course!
Christmas eve of course wasn’t complete until we got a little snow! Just what I needed before I put on my pj’s and dreamed of elves and the jolly old fat man!
Before I could see what Santa brought me on Christmas morning I headed out to the farm to take care of my ponies, and I had fun watching them open their new toy from Santa!
Then it was back home to open my own presents under the tree!
Santa must have thought I was a really good boy this year (and don’t you tell him otherwise), because I got so many goodies I hardly knew what to play with first!
But before I had a chance to play with much of anything it was off to my mom-mom and pop-pop’s house to have Christmas with my cousins!
My cousins were very nice to share most of their toys with me, although I was much more excited to get home to my own toys than playing Skylanders.
Although my cousins did gift me this fun new duck toy, which I had a blast tearing into!
I bet you are wondering just what I got for Christmas right?
Well one of my very favorite toys was a stuffed cup of hot chocolate that my mom and dad picked up for a couple bucks from goodwill….
It doesn’t take much to make this dog happy!
I also got the new Planet Dog Snoop Toy (one of my current favorite toys, and thus far indestructible!), KONG Starpod (I already broke a hole in this one!), a Bumble Ball (which I must admit I’m a little scared of as it vibrates!), a Ruffwear Lunker Toy (which I can’t wait to try out it’s floating capabilities at the lake this summer) and several bags of cookies!
Dad also got me a new stand for my photo backdrops, yippee!
By the end of the day I was pretty exhausted! But I had a wonderful Christmas with the people (and animals) I love!
I am so excited because today is CHRISTMAS! I even broke out my most festive glasses for the occasion.
And on my 12th Day of Cheer I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! I’m off to visit my family and spread as much cheer as possible in my holiday spectacles. I hope you all have a wonderful day and that Santa brought you lots of goodies! Merry Merry Christmas!
Every year as per my family tradition I take a trip to visit Santa. I’ve been telling old Kris Kringle my Christmas wish list since I was just 9 weeks old! (although it appears I may have missed 2009…oops).

This year mom and dad decided to take me to the local mall during pet night to visit Santa.
When I arrived I wasn’t the only pup waiting their turn to see St. Nick, so I hopped in line and anxiously awaited my turn.
As us pups had to share Santa’s lap with all the boys and girls too the wait was quite long, luckily I was able to do some window shopping while I waited.
After about 2 hours (yikes!) I finally made my way to the front of the line.
I was quite patient as I practiced my sit and stay in the busy mall corridor.
As I inched my way closer to the “north pole” I could hardly wait anymore!
As you can see by the look on my face by the time it was my turn in Santa’s lap I was quite tired of this waiting game!
Finally it was my turn with the jolly guy, and let me tell you it was worth the wait.
I quickly told him what I wanted under the tree this year and sat for my obligatory photo, because we all know what you get AFTER visiting with Santa……cookies! (as you can see I’m already eyeballing them in the photo above!)
