Friday Fetch: Filson Gear for Rugged Dogs

I came across Filson, a leading outfitter for outdoor enthusiasts, and I was super excited to find that not only do they outfit our humans, but they outfit the dogs too! Being a farm dog myself I found their products to have the perfect amount of ruggedness.

Here is a few of my favorite items from the Filson Dog Collection:

Tuesday Night Agility

On Tuesday evenings I attend two dog training classes. First I make my way to class at the Dog Training Center of Chester County where I’m learning to be a Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog. Then it’s off to Wagsworth Manor where I’m in the Intermediate Agility Class.

storm coming in

This week there was a big storm rolling in when mom and I pulled up to Wagsworth Manor, so instead of running around outside like normal we headed inside. I was kind of unsure about the whole situation, considering there was thunder and lightning, strange barking dogs, and a whole new environment to contend with. But soon I was put to ease, because my dad was waiting there to watch me get my Agility on!

Mom says I have to work on paying attention better, even when there are distractions, but how can you not be excited when your Dad comes to watch!?

Captain

After my graduation adventures on Sunday, when Monday rolled around and mom said we were going on an adventure – I took the car ride there as an excuse to catch up on my much needed napping.

And it’s a good thing I got those extra Zzzz’s because I had to be captain of the ship!

ammo the dachshund goes for a boat ride

Ok well maybe technically it was more like a motor boat we rented from the Marsh Creek State Park for a few hours – but either way it required a lot of Captaining.

My boat ride on this scorcher of a 90 degree day was the perfect thing to kick off the summer!

I even took a few laps in the lake later on – and mom said next time perhaps we’ll rent some paddle boards so I can really get wet!

With the wind in my ears, I knew there was only one more thing to start the summer right….

….Ice cream!!!

I even screamed enough that dad gave me a taste of his vanilla from Crazy Cones.

And to wrap up my adventuresome memorial day weekend I played some soccer in the backyard with my cousins during a family cookout. It was the perfect way to end the weekend, although I’m pretty sure I’ll be sleeping for the next 48 hours straight!

Graduation Day

Ammo the dachshund memorial day weekend

You might think that during my 3-day weekend for memorial day that most of my time would be spend lounging around and relaxing. But if you are a regular reader of my blog, then you know that this is simply not going to fly around my house – and you better believe that I packed as many adventures in as I could! By the end of the weekend I was so tired I even slept through dinner!

Ammo the dachshund university of delaware graduation

I kicked off the weekend by celebrating my Aunt Laurel’s graduation from the University of Delaware.

Even though I physically didn’t get to attend Laurel’s graduation as a certified Athletic Trainer I was there in spirit as mom texted me photos from the event so I could watch from home.

But I did get to wear my blue and gold proudly for the graduation party held at the farm the next day.

I kept busy all day and played a whole bunch of yard games with the party goers.

Cornhole is my new favorite, and I’m fairly certain that I was the only one playing properly. Winning!

And just like any function on the family farm, the magical ponies unicorns made their appearance as the graduate was made to participate in an embarrassing obstacle challenge.

I let my pal Trooper handle the judging this time while I manned the camera with mom, as I wasn’t going to miss a second of this train wreck.

Eventually the graduate crossed over the bridge to her future with her trusty steed Jet!

And we all cheered!

By this point in the day I was pretty zonked, but I pulled it all together, because I’m never one to miss family portrait time!

ammo the dachshund university of delaware graduation party

Awww how cute.

Trooper of course decided to kick off the extended family portrait with a bang!

And it was all down hill after that!

I’m so lucky to be a part of so many family adventures!

But, next time I might have to recruit a stunt double, because this pup was not prepared for the awesomeness that is GRADUATION DAY!

Memorial Day

I’m waving my flag this Memorial Day as we remember those fallen soldiers who have fought for our country. I haven’t forgotten to salute my four-legged counterparts either, many of which have given their lives in service to protect us.

Thank you for keeping us safe.

xoxo,

Friday Fetch: The Life of Ryley

While on one of my many searches to find a cool and new product to show you for my Friday Fetch installment on the blog I came across a super fun site that sells some unique pet products. And because I couldn’t decide on just one item to share I decided why not share all my favorites!

the life of ryley

Here’s the story behind the pet products sold on The Life of Ryley…

The Life of Ryley was born out of frustration!  Over a decade ago, designer Tracy Stillman was trying to find a collar for her soft-coated wheaten terrier named Ryley.  How could it be that no collar existed that effectively showcased Ryley’s unique personality? Much less a collar that appealed to Tracy’s level of style and sophistication?  This was one spectacular duo that needed more than just an ordinary old collar.

So Tracy created her own collar just for Ryley…and from there The Life of Ryley blossomed.

The company took a little catnap for a few years.  But things kicked up again when The Life of Ryley was introduced to Colin Cuneo, a business developer and dog-lover drawn to the sense of adventure and go-gettum’ attitude that dogs bring about.

Together, Tracy and Colin have brought The Life of Ryley back with a full line of products that boast style, class and quality for pet owners who understand that sensible accessories can still be fashionable accessories.

Sadly, Ryley passed on June 8, 2010. But the rebirth of this company serves as a tribute to this angel who will be forever loved.

Check out these fun products from The Life of Ryley:

Trooper has been by my side since the very beginning and I’m very excited to celebrate his Birthday with him today!

He doesn’t know yet, but I got him a few goodies that I guess I’ll share with him tonight at his party. I’m a nice guy like that.

5 years is a long time, but I’m very much looking forward to many more years with my bestest friend by my side.

Mellow Time

shilah the husky puppy

My friend Shilah the Husky puppy came to visit me over the weekend.

And although you may not be able to tell by looking at the photos, much like most puppies, Shilah is a bundle of energy.

But with me as her teacher, I’ve been showing her the rewarding benefits to mellowing out with your family. Like snuggling on the couch….

….or watching tv in the living room (animal planet of course).

I know it’s hard for her to mellow out with me, but I promised her as a compromise that this winter we’d hitch her up to my sled and do some dog sledding! Yeehaw!

P.S. Happy 28th Birthday to my Dad! He’s sooooo old!

Jackpot

ammo the dachshund versatility obstacle course

On Sunday we had an event at the farm, which meant I had lots and lots of work to do.

ammo the dachshund versatility obstacle course

Not only did I have to help set up the obstacle course the day before, but I also had to make sure everything was safe for the ponies.

After all the obstacles got my approval I took to my post to judge the competition.

We had some stiff competition this time around and they were all eager and hoping to win the jackpot cash prize!

But after much deliberation on my part, there could be only one winner! And to thank me for all my hard work, I happily take payment via squeaky toys purchased with jackpot cash prizes!
