I’ve always been quite good at entertaining myself, even when I was a young pup I found many ways to amuse myself while working long hours at the shop with mom.
And when you don’t have a toy on hand, there’s always a built in one on your own back end!
I was about 6 months old in this video, and to this day I still like chasing my tail sometimes!

Did you hear the news? It’s Thanksgiving Day! A day to be thankful and a day to eat turkey! That’s totally my kind of holiday.
Which is also why I came prepared with my very own turkey shoveling spoon!

You might have noticed that some of my photos have been looking a little bit different lately.
Dare I even say a bit more “professional”?
No, I haven’t hired a professional photographer, mom has just been getting a little camera happy after she purchased me some studio backdrops…..fancy right?
It’s the perfect excuse to have a little photoshoot! And while we’re still just using natural light to snap my photos, mom hopes maybe someday we’ll add some real studio lighting to the mix for an even more professional look!
For now I’m just enjoying feeling like a celebrity and practicing for when I have my own big deal modeling gig!
Pretty soon the paparazzi is gonna start following me around and I’ll be as big a deal as the Kardashians!
But don’t worry, when I’m uber famous I’ll still be the same old cowboy I’ve always been!
And perhaps you’ll fall in love with me even more!
But for now I’m quite content just being me, the King of my own backyard!
The dirt between my toes tells a story.
A story of adventures had and the most fun a little dachshund boy can have in his own backyard.
I mean come on, just check out the smile on my face!
Being a Dachshund means that I was born to hunt, most specifically I was born to hunt down holes! So when an opportunity presents itself for some real-life burrowing practice I can’t possibly pass up the ability to show off my skills. After all I am an expert hunter and burrower.
It’s a shame their wasn’t any groundhogs in there, but regardless I just can’t ever pass up a hole!
I may have talented paws (check out my original paintings HERE), but did you also know I have a talented nose? Oh yes, I’ve been working on my original “nose art” (seen above) for quite some time now.
It takes patience and some long long naps on the couch to perfect my technique – and the occasional bunny outside helps a bit too.
I’ve been working on this masterpiece for a couple of months now, and while it’s looking quite swell I know there is still more to add.
After all you can’t rush genius!
Every once in a while you get that itch. That itch to play and dart, and RUN!
And then just like that you’re off like a rocket. Faster than a speeding bullet you run, thinking maybe you’ll never come back.
But then mom digs around in her pocket and finds a leftover goldfish. Darn those gold fishes, they’re just so delicious.
And just like that you find yourself screaming…… “I’m coming mom, I’m coming…..don’t eat it…..I’m coming!”

Today is National High-Five Day! Only the greatest day ever, especially if you like to high-five like me!
So get your hands paws ready and spread some cheer with a high-five today! I’ve already started…

When the weather starts to warm up I always know that I will be spending a lot more time in the bathtub than I’d really care to.
Arguably it’s not my favorite thing in the World, but I like to think I’m pretty tolerable of the deed.
And it’s really not that BAD, especially since mom always provides cookies. A bath without cookies is like rolling in dead worms with a coat on – pointless – and precisely what got me into this mess in the first place.
After bath time I’m left smelling like sunshine and daisies – not what super awesome dogs that dig holes in the backyard and hunt for bunnies should be smelling like. So it’s best to rub that smell off as quickly as possible.
Pretty soon I’ll be dry and looking for my next big thing to roll in. This time I’m thinking horse manure and kitty litter – if I plan it just right then mom won’t have time to give me a bath before we go to work. Always gotta be thinking! Smell ya later, xoxo
Over the weekend my mom and dad went to a very special event (which I was not invited to – the nerve) called the Popovich Comedy Pet Theater. It sounded like so much fun that I thought I would share their adventure with everyone, even if I didn’t get to see it with my own eyes either.
The World Famous Popovich Comedy Pet Theater is a family-oriented blend of the unique comedy and juggling skills of Gregory Popovich, and the extraordinary talents of his performing pets. Each of the show’s 15 cats and 10 dogs were once strays, rescued from animal shelters. Now they love to show off onstage – by performing a variety of stunts and skits!
The event that my mom and dad attended also helped to raise money for the local SPCA by donating a dollar from every ticket to the shelter.
This amazing event featured lots of dogs and cats performing fun and exciting stunts, and they even had a whole act just with dachshunds!
I’m sad to have missed it myself, but glad that mom and dad were able to go and support the rescue animals. Mom even said it gave her some ideas to add to my own stunt dog act which I will be performing at the end of April to benefit the Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue. You can read more about that HERE.
