Dogs tend to sleep between 12 – 14 hours a day, and considering that makes up the majority of our day, we sometimes have to get a little creative with our napping spots. It could get quite boring if you slept the same way hour after hour, so I like to vary it up a little each time. So here’s a collection of some of my favorite ways to take a nap throughout the day!
As you see this could go on and on forever – but then I wouldn’t get any naps in!

Sometimes I like to find a nice sunny spot to dose in for an enjoyable afternoon nap.
Afternoon naps are simply the best, but as I slowly begin to awake….
…I come face to face with the lens of a camera!
Frankly it’s a bit creepy!
And I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather awake to a big bowl of dog cookies!
I bet you have that one favorite spot in your house. The spot where the couch dips in just right and the sun warms your back and you could just nap there for hours. Yeah, I have that spot at my house too.
All that’s missing is someone to hand feed me cookies and massage my back.

It’s been a little while since I’ve done a Throwback Thursday on the blog, so I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane today!
Back when I was just a wee pup my pal Trooper used to come to the shop to “babysit” me everyday. While I did get in my fair share of puppy antics, Trooper and I also did a whole lot of napping together……
You gotta love a best friend that will let you use him as a pillow!

As you can see it’s 6″ of fluff was so comfortable that I had trouble even keeping my eyes open long enough for mom to take pictures.
Mom even caught me napping in my crate several times over the past few weeks with this fluffy bed. And if you know me, you know this is VERY RARE, because I don’t particularly love being in crates.

Dog stereotypes would state that I should relish in the fact that I get to nap all day long, but for me that’s just way too boring.
How can you relax when there are adventures to be had; there’s groundhogs to hunt, agility courses to run, people to wag your tail at, and cookies to eat!
Although thinking about all those adventures is making me a little sleepy.
Yawn! I guess those adventures will still be there tomorrow…
I think I’ll just rest my eyes a bit. Don’t worry though, because adventure always awaits just around the corner!
Today I’m going under cover. Sometimes a dog just needs a little getaway.
Snuggled up in my favorite blankie – I’m relaxing today. No big adventures, no time for hunting bunnies in the backyard – just a day to catch up on my sleep!

I may have talented paws (check out my original paintings HERE), but did you also know I have a talented nose? Oh yes, I’ve been working on my original “nose art” (seen above) for quite some time now.
It takes patience and some long long naps on the couch to perfect my technique – and the occasional bunny outside helps a bit too.
I’ve been working on this masterpiece for a couple of months now, and while it’s looking quite swell I know there is still more to add.
After all you can’t rush genius!
