I bet you’re wondering why I’m wearing this spiffy yellow bandana that says American Journey.
Well, in actuality, it’s not a bandana. It’s a bib! A bib, because my pals over at Chewy.com sent me a bag, and not just any bag. A bag full of MEAT!
When you have a whole bag full of meat, you’re going to need a spiffy yellow bib!
Now this isn’t just any bag of meat. It’s the BRAND NEW American Journey line of treats, bones and chews available EXCLUSIVELY from my friends at Chewy.com. These goodies are sourced, packaged, and distributed right here in the USA!
Even through all the plastic I could smell just how yummy these meat products were. My mom is thrilled that they are high-quality, single-protein treats that she can feel good about letting me eat.
American Journey Chews also contain no artificial ingredients and no fillers.
But they did FILL ME UP! Yum!
My favorite though….munch, munch…..was the delicious….munch, munch, much…..bully sticks!
I’d totally recommend the American Journey line of chews to any of my furiends! And the folks over at Chewy.com even offer FREE SHIPPING on any order over $49+.
And now for the best part….

One of my favorite days of the month is BarkBox day. The day when my monthly subscription of goodies arrives at my door.
Everything is always so yummy and fun to play with that I can hardly wait to dive right in. It’s seriously THE BEST DAY EVER.
That is until my mom says it’s time for bed! This is what my face looks like when I’m told I’ll have to hold off playing with my Barkbox until tomorrow. I call it the “what the what?” face.
So reluctantly I get into bed, with my full Super Hero outfit on of course, because real Super Heroes are always ready at a moments notice.
I fight dreamland for as long as I can, when I suddenly remember….
“Dad! You forgot to read me my bedtime story!!”
Super Heroes can’t go to bed without a bedtime story!
If you’re unfamiliar with BlogPaws, it’s essentially a community of pet enthusiasts who write about and support pets via social media! Their annual conferences bring together hundreds of pet bloggers, pet enthusiasts, shelters, rescues, and brands for social media education, networking, and promoting.
I’m pretty much a newbie when it comes to BlogPaws, and I decided to attend this annual event for the first time after I found out I was a finalist for the Best Dog Blog and Best Pet Photo of 2015 in the Nose-to-Nose Awards.
Honestly I had no idea what to expect at this conference, and pretty much all I knew was that it was a pet friendly event, which meant I would be doing a whole lot of butt sniffing!
At first I was a little nervous when I entered the conference. There was a lot going on, tons of dogs, lots of chatter, and so so much to look at. But after about an hour I quickly realized this was a safe place to be and I was with MY KIND OF DOGS. (friendly, adventurous, and ready to sample lots and lots of treats).
To give you a little better idea of what a BlogPaws conference actually looks like, check out this video:
At 15 seconds in you can actually see me and my mom & dad walking around the BlogPaws vender area (bottom right corner).
The BlogPaws vender area was packed with brands that are interested in working with bloggers, and that’s good news for you, because it means I’ll hopefully be able to bring you even more fun product reviews & giveaways with some great new products in the coming months! Which P.S., if you’re ever interested in hearing my honest review about a product or brand or you’d love me to host a giveaway with them (so you could potentially win!) – just shoot them (or me) an e-mail and let them know about my blog!
I had a blast sampling products, and talking to companies about some of their new product lines.
While I’ve been to expos before, this was the liveliest one, and I couldn’t believe how much there was to see and do! And did I mention the swag? There were so many wonderful sponsors that donated products to the event, and I gotta send my thanks to them (because this was only a small potion of it)! And since I’m just one small dog, I will be donating many items to my local animal rescue!
One of the exciting things was getting the opportunity to attend some of the lectures and talks at BlogPaws. I have to say before this, I had never attended a lecture before, unless you count the times I visited an Elementary School.
While mom and dad were busy learning about SEO, monetization, pinterest marketing, and so much more, I was busy catching some Zzzz’s! Because honestly, all of it was a bit over my head. I’m much more the “talent” behind this blog anyway, and I was more than thrilled that mom and dad were there to take notes for me. Mom found some of the lectures very interesting and picked up some new skills she’ll be helping me apply to not only my blog, but my regular 9-5 business at the frame shop.
While the lectures were quite serious in nature, I made sure to liven them up some with a few of my silly tricks…..like playing dead! (It’s no fun to be serious all the time!)
Guess what, I wasn’t the only Dachshund with the silly’s there either! This is Fiona McSnuggles, a long haired sweetie who was actually blind and is a therapy dog just like me.
I also met Dolly the Doxie, a dachshund mix! Surprisingly (or maybe not so much) those were the only other dachshunds I spotted at BlogPaws.
I did however get to meet the infamous Prissy and Pop! They are celebrities on instagram, and even have jobs working as mascots in a first grade class. And yes, I’m super jealous that they are on summer break right now!
With all the excitement of the BlogPaws conference I made sure to take as many nap breaks as I could squeeze in, especially since my poor mom caught a nasty cold the day we left for our road trip adventure and spent most of the week trying her best to get through all the fun activities we had planned.
Speaking of fun, I became the recipient of my very own Busy Bee while at BlogPaws! If you’ve ever watched the movie Best in Show, then you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about when I say I was FREAKING OUT every time my Busy Bee from PetSafe (one of the sponsors of BlogPaws) got out of my sight! And if you haven’t watch the movie…do it….do it now!
After all the excitement of the week there was one last thing to do….attend the 2015 Nose-to-Nose awards! Of course I dressed to the nines since I was a finalist for Best Dog Blog and Best Pet Photo awards!
This was my first time walking a red carpet, and hopefully I worked it!
Here’s a group shot of most of the 2015 Nose-to-Nose Finalists. In case you didn’t get a chance to catch the live streaming event, you can watch the video here:
Sadly I did not take home any awards this year, but hey, I’m just honored to have been a finalist – my very first year too!
You know who did win though? My fellow dachshund adventurer blog, You Did What With Your Wiener? Congrats to Jessica, and I’m thrilled that dachshund adventure seekers are taking over the World! (well at least BlogPaws).
After 3 days of BlogPaws I was royally beat! I had so much fun, and hopefully I’ll get to attend again sometime soon (I’m thinking it may be an every few years event for me).
For now though it was time to make my trek back home to Pennsylvania where my ponies were anxiously awaiting my return!
And don’t worry, incase you were thinking this was the end of my adventures, I still have one more fun stop I made on the way home in Knoxville, Tennessee! Check back next week for the full details on my visit to the Sunsphere.
P.S. Don’t forget, for you local Pennsylvanians, I’ll be at the Ryerss Family Fun Day this Saturday from 12 – 4pm with my friend Minnow the famous Painting Pony. Hope you’ll stop by and meet me! I’ll be performing some of my favorite tricks too!
Disclosure: This post is brought to you by my friends at Barkbox.
As you know Easter was this past Sunday. It’s one of my favorite holidays – as holidays that involve a bunny always make the top of my list! Alas though, when I woke up Sunday morning it seems I had just missed Mr. Bunny.
But don’t worry, because the very special BarkBox Bunny never seems to miss my house, and this year was no exception. Check out the fun video of me diving into my Easter Basket:
That Barkbox Bunny knows just what kind of goodies I love!
After opening my basket I packed up and headed over to my mom-mom’s house where I was put in charge of hiding the easter eggs for all of my cousins (on account of I’m very good at finding hiding spots – mostly of the hole variety!).
That’s right, they’ll never find this one!
My cousins are pretty good at finding easter eggs, but I couldn’t let them have all the fun!
Too bad all the eggs I found had jelly beans in them….yuck!
After the egg hunt it was time for dinner. Unfortunately my family forgot to set a place for me at the table! Can you believe it! Don’t worry though, I found the perfect spot to look pathetic and got handed plenty of little nibbles.
And after I was nice and stuffed one of my cousins volunteered to take me for a walk. I burned off all those calories in a matter of minutes hunting for more easter bunnies!
How did you spend your Easter with your dog?
P.S. If your pup missed out on the BarkBox Bunny, don’t worry, you have until April 10th to get your dog a box of goodies in the mail this month. And don’t forget to use code AMMO5 for an awesome 10% off your order!

Ok, full disclosure here, when I was a puppy I failed crate training. Yes, it’s true. I barked and cried and threw out all the stubborn dachshund tricks until my mom and dad caved. That was 6 years ago though, and although I may not be the perfect poster dog for loving my crate, I am learning that it’s not such a bad place to be after all.
As an adult dog I’ve learned that there are many benefits to crate training and I should learn to be one of the many #CrateHappyPets out there.
Reasons why you might need to put your pet in a crate:
Your pet becomes injured and needs to be on crate rest
Traveling in a carrier by plane or the need to be crated in a hotel to keep pets out of trouble
Great for pets with separation anxiety when you leave home
Dog agility events where there is a need to kennel pets between events
Pet safety and keeping them out of areas that are hazardous
Yet the number one reason that my mom and dad decided to take the plunge and FINALLY crate train me was to keep me from begging for food at dinner time! I guess my cute puppy dog eyes were becoming too much for them to resist!
Since I’m probably not the only dog out there that was/is resistant to crate training I’ve decided to share some of my tips on how I learned to love my kennel!
Ammo’s Tips for Crate Training an Adult Dog:
TIP 1: Pad your dog’s crate with something extra soft! If you have to, double up the dog beds, no dog wants to sleep on the hard plastic bottom of a crate. Simply switching out my crate pad for something extra soft made me want to take naps in there instead of anywhere else! For a bonus you can add a pet-safe heating pad, because that’s just icing on the cake!
TIP 2: Give your dog something extra special when they are in their crate. I love a toy stuffed with peanut butter (and if you freeze it, it lasts even longer – plus there is no risk of choking when mom and dad are gone). In the beginning my mom would let me chew on something tasty inside the crate (while the door was open) to get used to being in there.
TIP 3: Cover the top of your crate with a blanket or crate cover. Us dogs are den animals, and sometimes being snuggled up in a dark area makes us feel safe and secure.
TIP 4: Build duration in the crate slowly over time with routine. My parents started me out with the routine of going into my crate every evening at their dinner time. I started out by just being closed in for a minute or 2 a night, and built up to longer lengths over several months.
TIP 5: Practice your crate training in many different places. You can even play some crate training games with your pup to get them to look forward to going inside.
So hopefully my crate training tips have you all excited to get started with your pup too, now all you need is a crate!
Great news, my friends over at Petsmart® are having a SALE ON CRATES, KENNELS, CARRIERS, AND ACCESSORIES all this month, and you can grab one for a steal.
Petsmart carries many great brands like Petmate®, Martha Stewart Pets®, Top Paw®, Kong®, and Grreat Choice®. Personally I’m a big fan of the wire crates like these from Top Paw® – as I have been known to chew through a soft crate or two before I learned to love them!
Not sure what to buy? Check out this helpful Crate Buying Guide from Petsmart.
So don’t delay, grab a cart and head on over to Petsmart (or you can shop online) – these deals only last until March 31st!
Before you know it, you’ll have #CrateHappyPets just like me!
Do you have any crate training tips to share? Post them in the comments below!
I’ve got some exciting news! Recently I found out that I’m a finalist in the BlogPaws Nose-to-Nose Awards for the Best Dog Blog & Best Pet Blog Photo.
It’s enough to make me feel like a celebrity!
What makes the Nose-to-Nose awards a little different is that this is the only pet industry awards on which pet bloggers and micro-bloggers are judged on the expertise, performance, and creativity of their blog. Each category is judged by a distinguished panel of professionals, and not by popular vote. So don’t worry I won’t be begging for votes (not that I’ve ever been a fan of that anyway), now begging for cookies, that’s another story!
Oh gosh, I can just feel the love!
The best part is that winners will be revealed in an exclusive red carpet ceremony at the BlogPaws Annual Conference in Nashville, Tennessee at the end of May.
I’m already excitedly making some plans so I can hopefully take a week-long road trip to attend the event. Which is great news for you too, because that means when I get back from my trip I’ll have a whole SLEW of adventures to share with you! You know, like where the best trees to pee on in Tennessee are, and what kind of squirrels they have in Virginia….the important stuff.
So if you know of any great dog friendly spots that I can stop and see on my road trip in a couple of months let me know in the comments below! I can’t wait!
AND THAT’S NOT ALL….
Details below are brought to you by Barkbox and contain affiliate links. But don’t worry, all opinions are entirely my own and I wouldn’t be telling you about Barkbox if I didn’t love them as much as I do!
If that weren’t enough good news…..I’ve got even more! Barkbox is having a Spring Bark Celebration this month with some extra goodies just for you! Woohoo #SpringBark2015
Use code AMMO5 on any new Barkbox subscription from now until March 15th and you’ll receive 1 FREE MONTH + get an additional month FREE FOR A FRIEND! (Because Spring Bark is more fun with friends!).
And let me tell you, a subscription to Barkbox is enough to give your pup a total #springbarkhangover!
I’ll catch you all later after I recover from my Barkbox hangover!

And many more!
Studies and clinical use have proven that Rejeneril® is highly effective, fast-acting, completely safe, and non-toxic.
As much as I love to think that I’ll be this nimble and quick for years and years to come, it’s nice to know that there are products out there that will get me back to feeling like a pup again when I’m a bit older.
Since I’m a little too young to need a supplement like Rejeneril myself I did not actually test out this product (I’ve already got more than enough energy to go around according to my mom!) But you can check out these honest reviews from some real life pups who did:
The general consensus from all these dogs was that it really works – improved skin and with a little more pep in their step, these dogs seemed to really benefit from taking Renjeneril.
Rejeneril is a supplement that you can give to your dog by placing a few drops (amount is dependent on size of dog) into your pet’s food. One small bottle can last a small dog up to 4 months. If you’d like to try Rejeneril for your pet you can fetch it from My Ultimate Pet. Use the code AMMO to get 15% off of your order of Rejeneril.

The P-Scoop is a product made by PawCheck. It is a compact and telescopic ladle for dog urine collection. It offers a clean and easy method for dog parents to catch urine midstream and suitable for male and female dogs of all sizes. You can check out the review I did of the P-Scoop last year. If your vet has ever asked you to collect a urine sample from your dog, then you know how challenging it can be, with the P-Scoop it’s no longer difficult! You can fetch your own from PawCheck.
Ddoggies carries 100’s of products for dog lovers featuring the art of Danny Gordon. With tons of dog breeds to choose from your can have your choice printed on t-shirts, mugs, license plates, coasters, hoodies, and more.

Well, January kicked off to a fantastic start. I always love looking back to see what fun I had, it makes me hungry for even more adventures in February! What do you think I should do next?
There is just something so fun about running around in all that white stuff – wind in your ears, best friend by your side.
Truth be told though, as much as I love romping in the snow with my best friend, things can sometimes get a bit chilly (no matter how many winter coats I have on).
But, the quickest way to cure the winter-time chills is to find a good scent to keep you distracted from your freezing behind!
And lucky for me, just the other day my newest scent trail let me to these new winter friends.
With a hole slew of collar patterns, colors, and styles I almost couldn’t decide which one I would like to wear. That is until I spotted this lovely velvet teal color (aka the Zack Collar) and I just knew it would be perfect!
The Laser Engraved buckle is a plastic/metal hybrid which is great for dogs of all sizes, but especially smaller breeds because it makes the collar weigh less than a full metal buckle.
And if you’re someone that can’t stand the sound of jingle jangle id tags as your dog runs around the house, you can always forgo them if you like since your dog’s identification is right on the collar!
While a velvet collar is probably not optimal on the farm (as it may collect a little too much “farm”), I just couldn’t help but take my new Mimi Green Collar for a fun farm photoshoot.
The pretty teal color just popped out there! And their velvet collars also come in lots of other fun colors.
You can totally see me on the cover of Vogue can’t you!
Grab your own vogue worthy collar with engraved buckle from Mimi Green, and as a bonus you can save 10% with code Ammo10
For this giveaway I will be using, Rafflecopter. By entering this giveaway you will be signing up for the Mimi Green Newsletter, but you can unsubscribe at anytime. Winner will be chosen at random and you will be contacted via e-mail to claim your prize. All the winners will also be announced on this blog post once the giveaway ends on 12/16/14 12AM EST. Open to WORLDWIDE readers. Only one winner. Winners must claim their prizes within 48 hours of being notified or prize will be forfeited. Good luck!
