Have some Cake and eat it Too!

ammo the dachshund's nose

This is my nose, it’s super good at smelling things.

And it’s because of my nose that I ended up in the ponies’ paddock the other day.

Ammo the dachshund birthday cake

Now I know what you’re thinking……it’s not a real Birthday cake. Yes, I was a little disappointed too, but my nose didn’t bring me here because I smelled Birthday cake.

Ammo the dachshund birthday cake

No, I smelled something different, something better.

runaway birthday cake

It’s called poly-fill! And just because it’s not a real cake, doesn’t mean it’s any less fun to eat destroy.

Seriously, I don’t know what I’d do without my nose!

Motorcylce Mama

annie the motorcycle dog

This is Annie and her Dad. I met Annie on Sunday at the 4 Dogs Tavern while I was there grabbing some dinner with my mom and dad. Now normally I consider myself a pretty tough guy, but Annie, well she’s even tougher.

annie the motorcycle dog

See this is Annie’s motorcycle! She has a special seat in the back and has her very own pink helmet and goggles. I was too embarrassed to tell Annie that I have a helmet too – except I use mine to play Super Heroes.

Not too cool when you’re trying to pick up chicks – well unless she’s a damsel in distress, but that’s another story.

annie the motorcycle dog

Well Annie, I hope we meet again, because you’re one hot motorcycle mama!

P.S. I ordered the bacon for dinner.

My New Bone

Yes, over the weekend my mom brought me home a brand new bone! I can’t even begin to tell you how long it’s been since I’ve had a bone. I think mom’s starting to feel guilty about leaving me home next week when she takes Minnow to Chincoteague Island for the annual Pony Penning. I’m not going to say the new bone makes up for this, because it doesn’t, but it is a good start.

Of course the first thing I did with my new bone was to try to take it outside for a good old fashioned burying. However, there was a little snag in my plan.

Sigh. I’m thinking things would have gone a lot smoother had I gotten out my Super Cape.

Summer on the Farm

Today I thought I’d share a few images from my evening on the farm – shot yesterday. Everyday is an adventure, and there is no shortage of things to do on the farm in the Summer. Arguably it’s not your average farm, especially when it’s run by a bunch of Super Heroes with an active imagination. You’re never to old to play dress-up, catch bugs, or in my case – build underground forts. I don’t plan on ever growing up. How about you?

Summer Harvest

This is the apple tree that lives in my yard.

These are the apples that it grows for me.

This is the peach tree that lives in my yard.

These are the peaches that it grows for me.

These are my green peppers.

These are my tomatoes.

These are my cucumbers.

This is what the ground hog did to my cucumbers.

In my defense I was stuck behind my fence…or I WOULD have stopped him.

See, not my fault.

So, you might be wondering – with all of these great fruits & veggies in my yard – why I’m chewing on a stick? Well, it’s because fruits & veggies are YUCK! That’s why.

Super Weenie Hideout Cave

Over the weekend I came across a new hole on the farm.

I decided that this particular hole would make a super amazing “bat cave” – although since I’m not a bat, I decided to call it “The Super Weenie Hideout Cave”!

Upon first inspection it seemed decent enough.

So I did what any Dachshund would do – I dug my way into that Super Weenie Hideout Cave!

I was tedious work, but before long I had made my way into the hideout.

I already have future plans for an underground garage for my weenie mobile. It’s going to be epic!

New Art: Stormy Sea

Tada! Over the weekend I finished up a fabulous new watercolor painting! I give you “Stormy Sea” created by yours truly. I’m taking a liberty here and giving myself a gold star for the day. Yeah, it’s that good!

I was so excited to be painting again, that I might have done some yelling. Ok, I definitely did some yelling.

What are you looking at? Never seen a Dachshund in a beret?

Dashing isn’t it? I know you wish you had one too.

You can purchase this beauty, “Stormy Sea” in my online shop!

P.S. Don’t forget I donate 5% of my sales to Charitable Organizations. Yeah!

Friday Fetch: Hats for your Pet

Lady Gaga has nothing on this totally fashionable chihuahua from the Etsy shop, lenapavia. Looking for more than just a hat? Channel your inner Gaga with this inspired frog costume. Seriously. It makes me giggle.

From the shop:

Hello I’m Lena.
Thank you for stopping by my shop and I hope you like my designs. I began my career as a fashion designer at the age of 3. My first client was mom when I decided to cut and fix her dress. From there I went on to cutting and fixing everything I could get my hands on. I still remember that my grandmother had to keep all of the sewing supplies hidden whenever I came over. Nevertheless this did not stop me, and I have pursued my dream of becoming a fashion designer to this day.

Lena’s hats are certainly trendy – from cowboy hats to mini mouse ears no dog’s head will go bare! You can fetch your own trendy hat at lenapavia for $5 – $36

Water Warrior

I bet you thought the story ended with my boat ride on Tuesday afternoon at Marsh Creek State Park. Well that would be false, because after I left the docks – I had something else in mind.

Swimming!

I had fun practicing my dolphin swimming.

And then I played a game of fetch with Dad.

Which pretty quickly escalated into a game of chase.

Catch me if you can, sucker!

Sea Legs

Slowly but surely I’m earning my sea legs. You might remember I went on a boat outing a few months ago up in the Poconos. Well yesterday I went on another boat outing at Marsh Creek State Park.

On a 90+ degree day, it was the perfect weather to spend on the lake.

I have to admit I was so excited I did a little yelling. How can you not, when you’re on the open water!?

We did have a little “man overboard” incident…

I know what this looks like, but I swear I didn’t push him!

Dad probably should have been wearing his life vest.

Well, I’ve pretty much mastered this boating thing. Easy Peazy Lemon Squeezy! I think next time I might try my hand paw at windsurfing!
