Last week an interesting looking package arrived at the shop (aka my place of work).

Upon popping the top, I was surprised to find a box of real grass! From my pals over at DoggieLawn, this “box of grass” is a convenient indoor potty system for your dog! So mom popped it down in the shop and let me inspect my DoggieLawn.

It certainly smelled like real grass and weighs slightly more than half as much as standard sod for easy lifting. It’s also “soil-less” which means it contains none of the dirt you find in sod.

DoggieLawn recommends spritzing your grass with water every 1-2 days and picking up any solids your pet leaves behind until your new box arrives in the mail. Then simply toss the old one!

While I am a completely house trained dog and mom never used pee pads or any other indoor training device to house train me, I can see the benefit to using one of these boxes when training a puppy, for older dogs who can’t hold it, or for people who live in apartments.

Since the idea of doing my business indoors is quite foreign to me, I didn’t quite grasp the concept of using the box to go to the bathroom. But even if your dog doesn’t take to the box right away DoggieLawn offers free training support. They also have the ability to add a pheromone scent to your box (so that it will smell like dog urine and your dog may be more inclined to use it) – or you can even add some of your own dog’s urine to it. Which for me I think might be the trick to training me to use it, because who wants another dog’s urine in their box of grass….gotta cover that stink up!

So instead of using my DoggieLawn as a potty, for the time being I found it quite useful as a napping spot!

After all, I’d rather be outside than in….so while I’m stuck at work all day, why not bring a little of the outdoors in!

I’m definitely going to keep DoggieLawn on my list of items that may be useful as I age (although mom says I’m not ever allowed to get old), because indoor potty grass sounds like the perfect thing to help you “age gracefully”, if you know what I mean!
