Friday Fetch: Bambi & Friends

bambi and friendsHalloween is just around the corner and it seems as if everyone already has their costumes picked out! I’m embarrassed to say that I still don’t know what I want to be yet.

Dogs like Bambi from Hope Images seem to effortlessly pull off the perfect costume. I’m a wee bit jealous, although to be fair, I really don’t want to dress up like a hot dog – the most obvious solution.

Doe-eyed Bambi here kinda makes me want to run into the forest and bring home a few fawns to call my own. Isn’t she just precious?

You can fetch these photographs of Bambi and her friends from Hope Images on Etsy for $15.

Even these dogs seem to have gotten into the Halloween Spirit:

Kinda makes you want to play dress-up doesn’t it?

Secret Life

I have a secret to tell you. But you have to promise not to tell anyone! Especially not my pony friends!

ammo the dachshund

Ok, well sometimes, only sometimes, when I’m wandering around in my backyard…..

ammo the dachshund in backyard

…..I like to pretend that I’m a pony.

ammo the dachshund eating grass

You know, nibbling on grass, making little whinnying sounds, prancing – the normal stuff.

ammo the dachshund eating grass

It’s fun for a little while, but then I usually remember that grass tastes like yuck, I hate prancing, and I’d much rather be a dog that gets to eat hot dogs and bark at the neighbors. Oh and Dogs rule, ponies drool!

Did you hear that?

ammo the dachshund listening

Oh Hey! Now that you’re here, did you hear that?

ammo the dachshund listening

There it was again, did you hear it that time?

ammo the dachshund listening

I think it might be coming from my apple tree.

ammo the dachshund sniffing

I mean it smells harmless enough though.

ammo the dachshund listening

Wait, I heard it again, you swear you don’t hear that?

ammo the dachshund listening

Oh no…..I knew it…

ammo the dachshund listening

…those darn birds are laughing at me again! Now someone please give me a boost, I’ve got some chatty birds to get at!

Singing in the Rain

Lately you’d think I live in Seattle – on account of all the rain we’ve been getting in Pennsylvania. Seems like every week there are new flood watches issued, and everyday looks a little gloomier.

ammo the dachshund rainy day

It’s days like these that you look out the window barn door and think, why bother.

But then I remember, just because it looks dreary outside doesn’t mean my day can’t be filled with adventure. After all, it’s always best to look on the bright side of things.

A little mountain climbing in the manure pile…..

….and some sniffing for ground hogs in the far pasture make for some wonderful rainy day fun.

The hills are alive with the sound of my barking, as I dance in the rain!

Creative Paws

Me and mom have been busy updating our online Etsy Shop (which I share with the Painting Ponies), so today I thought I’d share with you some of my new additions to the shop.

white dachshund no. 12

This one is White Dachshund No.12, isn’t he special looking?

yellow dachshund no.2

And this one is Yellow Dachshund No. 2, he’s such a happy little fellow!

Now, although I feel I am the most talented artist in the bunch, my Painting Pony friends (mostly Minnow) have also been busy filling the shop with some of their new creations.

Ok, I admit it, Minnow is pretty talented. But, he has been painting for much longer than I have (since 2007 to be exact).

But we all still know who looks the best in the beret! Eat your heart out girls!

An Apple A Day

Friday is the first day of Autumn here in the good old US of A. Which means the apple tree in my back yard is looking a lot like this lately:

Fall is my favorite time of year, not only is my Birthday in 2 weeks (October 5th to be exact), but it’s the anniversary of when I met my family. So to pre-celebrate the lovely fallness, I had a little chow down on my first apple of the season.

This means I don’t have to go to my annual vet check up in November then, right?

Hide and Seek

Me and Cricket are playing Hide and Seek today on the farm. Will you help me find her?

ammo the dachshund hide and seek

She’s quite the crafty hider and sometimes I spend all day hunting for her around farm.

ammo the dachshund hide and seek

I thought I smelled her over by one of the ponies obstacles in the arena.

ammo the dachshund hide and seek

And I knew I heard a noise underneath the tarp.

ammo the dachshund hide and seek

But, when I peeked inside I saw nothing but darkness.

ammo the dachshund hide and seek

I was about to give up and move on to another hiding spot, when I thought I saw her little black tail poking out from under the tarp.

And just when I was about to tag her “it”, I thought I saw a groundhog out of the corner of my eye…..and she got away! That Cricket, she sure is tricky!

Friday Fetch: Pet Calendars

I’m probably pretty accurate when I say most people (and dogs with a busy schedule like me) check a calendar every day of their lives. How else are you going to remember vet appointments play dates, personal appearances, and trips to the pet store?

Well since your calendar is probably your most looked at item, it only makes sense that it should be full of pet swagger! Even though 2012 isn’t here JUST yet, I’ve gathered up some super cool pet-themed calendars from Paper Source.

You can fetch your own 2012 Calendars here.

P.S. If I can get my act together I’m hoping to have my very own “Ammo the Dachshund” Calendar available this Christmas! I’ll be sure to share more details when it’s ready!

Agility with Cows

Ok, so maybe I didn’t EXACTLY do agility with the cows, but they certainly did interrupt my first attempt at a dog agility course. Over the weekend while I was hanging out at the Chadds Ford Days event, me and my pal Trooper got to test out a dog agility course. Neither of us have done a course before, although I had had a basic intro to agility class last winter. But, this was the first time I got to do the tunnel, or any of the jumps, and I had never been on a balance board before. I actually really enjoyed it!

Doesn’t it look like fun! Mom says maybe this winter I can take some more agility classes, and I can’t wait! Trooper even got a chance to try it himself.

Go Trooper! Although he probably would have done even better had he been wearing his Super Cape like I was! Doesn’t he know it’s all in the wardrobe?

Glow-tastic!

When nasty Hurricane Irene came blowing through my town a few weeks ago it was lights out at my house for a little while. And when I posted a picture of me playing board games in the dark on my facebook page, my pals over at Glowdoggie decided to help a pal out!

So, when my Glowdoggie LED collar arrived a few weeks later, I did what any dog with a super cool new waterproof led light-up safety collar would do….

…Fashion Show!

Sorry, I know, that was kinda girly of me – so to redeem myself I made sure to also take some photos in my rough and tumble lifestyle. (aka the farm). And just because I enjoy a good fashion show doesn’t make me any less of a farm dog!

ammo the dachshund glowdoggie collar

I have to admit, I look pretty dashing in red, and this thing is just MEANT for adventurous dogs like me!

ammo the dachshund glowdoggie collar

Mom says that since the sun will be setting sooner I’m going to have to wear my glowdoggie collar every evening out on the farm to keep me safe.

ammo the dachshund glowdoggie collar

Did you know that the Glowdoggie collar is German engineered? Which pretty much means it was totally designed for me, you know, because Dachshunds are German.

ammo the dachshund glowdoggie collar

So far I was digging my new Glowdoggie collar, but there was really only one way to put it to the test.

ammo the dachshund glowdoggie collar

I had to take it down a groundhog hole!!

ammo the dachshund glowdoggie collar

Now that I have a light to show me the way I am a much more efficient digger.

ammo the dachshund glowdoggie collar

And those groundhogs are gonna have no idea what hit them!

If you can’t tell by the look on my face, I’m one happy ground-hog hunting dog, and the Glowdoggie collar passed my rigorous hole burrowing test!

You can fetch your own Glowdoggie collar here .

UPDATE: My friends over at Glowdoggie have kindly offered anyone who mentions “Ammo” during checkout will get FREE SHIPPING on their Glowdoggie collar to the US! Yippee!
