Squeak no More

On Friday I said goodbye to one of my favorite toys. Mr. Happy face. You might remember him from a little giveaway I tried to do on my blog back in October. Everyone was supposed to guess how long I kept him alive…..but it didn’t really work because I kept him alive FOREVER! That’s right, I’ve had him since OCTOBER – that’s like 4 months!

I really don’t know why I decided Friday was the day he had to go, it was just time. Sorry Mr. Happy face – maybe someday we will meet again.

Friday Fetch: Doxie Sculptures

Today’s Friday Fetch is from Bunny with a Tool Belt, where cute and colorful wooden sculptures is the name of the game. They just make me smile! And what’s even better then a whimsical sculpture, but a sculpture of a cute little Dachshund, because we all know that Dachshunds are the cutest dogs there ever were! Sorry but I am a little biased, do you blame me?

Here are two of my favorite Dachshund Sculptures.

The rockin’ out Doxie.

And the Double Rainbow Dachshund, you know, because double rainbows are AMAZING.

Snowy Walk

My walk into work yesterday was filled with lots of the white stuff! Perfect for making yellow snow, if you know what I mean!

I had my paws crossed for a snow day, alas all I got was a snowy walk.

At least I DID get to run around and play in the snow on Tuesday night…until mom and dad made me come inside. I could have stayed out there for hours.

I better get a snow day soon though! Afterall, what is winter for?

Duds and Buds

Check it out, this came in the mail for me a few days ago. Mom said it was a little surprise for me, because I’m such a good boy!

I look super dashing in my new harness made by my pal Baxter’s mom. And guess what? It’s heavy duty so I can get “down and dirty” during all my adventures! I’ll definitely have to break it in with a little romp in the horse manure pile later.

I also hung out with my new buddy all day.

Well at least until I decided he’d be a lot more fun to chew on than hang out with!

Oh what fun it is to play….

Do you remember the toy hamster my dad got me for Christmas? Well, I finally got a chance to play with him last week! And boy was he a barrel of laughs!

Don’t worry, no hamsters were harmed in the making of these videos!

2011 Dachshund Goals

Instead of doing “NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS” I’m going to come up with a list of goals. Things I’d like to do and accomplish this year. My mom made a list of her own for the Trick Ponies (and me) so now it’s my turn to figure out exactly what I want to do this year.

So here’s my list of goals for 2011:

1. Take another agility class or maybe even COMPETE in agility

2. Actually win a race at the Dachshund Races this year

3. Make MORE artwork

4. Visit some nursing homes

5. Perform more with the Trick Ponies

6. Learn at least 10 new tricks

7. Dress up more often

8. Go on vacation

9. Try something new

10. Giggle more

Phew. That was a little harder than I thought! Now do you think I can do it? Have any ideas of what I should add to my list? Anyone learn any new tricks already? (I need to get cracking on that goal)

Friday Fetch: Flossers

Today’s Friday Fetch just makes me giggle. Seriously, if you gotta floss your teeth (and mom says you gotta) you might as well get your floss from a dog’s booty.

DOG BUTT FLOSS comes in 5 different colors: Clifford red, bright green, Blue’s blue, Ms. Piggy Pink, and black

You can get these nifty floss holders from fanimals on Etsy.

Spreading the Love

Since it’s now officially 2011, that means it’s time for me to make my donation to my special charity of choice! For me that would be the Main Line Animal Rescue this year.

Over the past 8 months (since I first dove into the World of Art), I’ve been slowly setting aside some money to make my donation. And since my friends like to help out with a good cause too, The Painting Ponies helped make my donation even bigger this year. Thanks Minnow, Blitz & Boomer!

The MLAR mission statement:

Main Line Animal Rescue specializes in the rescue and placement of abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals. We never discriminate on the basis of health, age or breed. By involving and educating the community, Main Line Animal Rescue works to raise the public’s awareness of the plight of homeless animals as well as realizing the benefits of adopting an animal in need. Our animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before they are placed in carefully screened homes.

I also decided to share with you some very special friends that are currently up for adoption at MLAR.

Meet Belinda, a 7 year old black and tan female Doxie. Looking for someone to love her!

This is Betty, an 8 year old black and tan female long hair Doxie.

Pretzel is an 11 year old black Dachshund looking for a nice family to call hisĀ  own.

I am totally potty trained, love to go for short walks and am content to just sit next to my owner or lay by the windows where the sun comes in. I am a little timid so would do best with a quiet home. I am very sweet and will get so excited when you walk in the door. I run around in circles and hop around wagging my tail. I am presently being fostered by a family with two other dogs, but to be honest I’m not that interested in either of them. I am much more interested in people. Please come and meet me and see for yourself how adorable I am.

Rodney is a 7 year old red Dachshund looking for someone to love him!

There are lots more LOVELY dogs available for adoption at MLAR (not just doxies) – I just have a soft spot in my heart for my short and long brothers from another mother. So if you’re looking to bring someone into your home to love FOREVER AND EVER, be sure to check out MLAR – or any other local rescue in your area…..every dog deserves a home and someone to love them!

I send all my love to all the animals out there looking for their forever homes. Hugs and Kisses, your pal Ammo.
