Miss-Flo Custom Dog Harness Review // Ammo the Dachshund

A couple of weeks ago my new pal Flo, from Miss-Flo, sent me one of her mom’s custom made harness and leash sets. And boy was I excited when it showed up in one of my favorite colors – teal!

I’ve never been a big fan of harnesses that have straps between the legs because they feel restricting, and it can be quite difficult to find a well-made harness that just sits across the chest.

These Miss-Flo harnesses are custom made to fit each dog, so you know it will be the perfect size for your own furry friend. As you can see mine fits me like a glove, and I like that the buckle is adjustable (should I ever eat too many cookies).

My Miss-Flo harness even came with a matching leash which boasted one of those extra strong snaps – because you can never be too careful when it comes to walking your pup! It also has a little metal loop by the handle to tie poop bags to or even snap a set of keys onto.

One of my favorite things about this harness was the velvety soft fabric that was against my skin. All of Miss Flo’s harnesses (and even the leash handles) are lined with velvet and they come in a variety of color choices too. Never again do I have to worry about my harness rubbing me in the wrong places, because believe me when I say this stuff is oh-so-soft!

Armed in my new harness I set off to roam my neighborhood – well and mostly just show off to all the neighbor dogs how really really good looking I was in it.

You may have already noticed me wearing my new harness in some of my other blog and Facebook posts, as I’ve been wearing it everywhere lately – it’s that comfortable!

DIY Ombre Pet Bandana

DIY Ombre Pet Bandana via Ammo the Dachshund

Over the weekend mom and I had some fun with a little DIY project. I like to keep up with all the fashion trends, so I told mom I needed a stylish new Ombre Bandana for the summer! Ombre is new it thing, incase you didn’t know.

So here’s my super fun tutorial for a…

DIY OMBRE PET BANDANA

Supplies Needed:

  • Hanger (a plastic pant hanger works best)
  • Box of Dye (we ended up using a Royal Blue Color – not the pictured teal dye)
  • Cutting Tool (scissors or rotary cutter work fine)
  • Ruler or tape measure
  • White Fabric or Bandana (we used a white cotton jersey material, but the ombre color may show up better on a different material – we just didn’t have any on hand to experiment with) *we also pre-washed/shrunk our fabric before dying

Step 1: If you are using a piece of fabric vs. a pre-made bandana (sold at most craft stores, but better sized for a large dog), cut your fabric into a triangular shape that will fit your dog’s neck. Mom measured my neck then added 4″ to each side on the top to make room to tie it. Ex: my neck measured 12″ so we added 8″ total making the top measurement 20″ wide.

Step 2: Mix your dye as per the directions on the box. As a rule always add a little less water to your bucket – you can always add more water to dilute it later.

Step 3: Attach your bandana to the hanger.

Step 4: Dip the bandana 3/4 into the dye for about 5 seconds, then remove. Try to keep the bandana as level as possible when dipping into the dye.

Step 5: Next dip your bandana 1/2 way into the dye for 20 seconds.

Step 6: Remove the Bandana another 1/4 out of the dye so that just 1/4 remains in the dye. Leave it there for another 2 – 3 minutes. *you may have to experiment with dye times based on the type of fabric you are using and how quickly it soaks up the dye.

Remove from the dye and hang until dry.

The waiting is the hardest part!

When your bandana is dry you will have a stylish new accessory perfect for the summer! Yay!

Of course I had to break mine in by rolling in the stinkiest dead animal smell I could find. It was glorious!

Friday Fetch: Blink Leash

I might have a mild obsession with rope leashes currently – that and the color teal. We dogs don’t wear only wear clothing on occasion, so we gotta accessorize somehow!

So even though my mom recently made me my own diy rope leash, when I found the TEAL ROPE leashes on Blink I found myself begging and pleading my mom for an upgrade. True I probably could have dyed my current leash, but these were just oh so cool.

These hand-made, hand-dyed leashes are made of 100% cotton rope with brass hardware. Leash ends are spliced and then whipped, making them as strong as uncut rope.

They come in three different colors, Salmon, Lake and Smoke as well as two different styles – slip or clip.

You can fetch your own for $20-$45 at Blink

Friday Fetch: Butt Sniffing Dogs

It’s like shaking hands, but for dogs. And for some reason it makes people giggle. Honestly, it makes me giggle too. That’s why today’s Friday Fetch is the Butt Sniffing Dogs Ceramic Sculpture from Snew!

Come on, you have to admit, it makes you giggle. hehe

These guys were handmade by using vintage molds and original pieces. They were made of clay and fired once to bisque then painted with a pretty turquoise blue. They are cute as can be even while doing the naughty and measure approx 5.5″ long 2″ high. Ready for loving or gifting!

You can Fetch the Butt Sniffing Dogs HERE for $35.

Also, be sure to check out Snew’s Doxie Cabochons! You know, because everyone loves a wiener dog!

Duds and Buds

Check it out, this came in the mail for me a few days ago. Mom said it was a little surprise for me, because I’m such a good boy!

I look super dashing in my new harness made by my pal Baxter’s mom. And guess what? It’s heavy duty so I can get “down and dirty” during all my adventures! I’ll definitely have to break it in with a little romp in the horse manure pile later.

I also hung out with my new buddy all day.

Well at least until I decided he’d be a lot more fun to chew on than hang out with!
