Friday Fetch: Dog Skijoring Gear

dog skijoringOk, so honestly I thought Skijoring was just for horses, but when I saw these nifty Dog Skijoring harnesses and gear at REI I knew exactly what me and Trooper will be doing this winter.

If you’ve never heard of Dog Skijoring it’s a sport in which a dog (or dogs) assist a cross-country skier by providing power by running and pulling while hooked up to a special harness.

You can fetch this nifty set-up for Dog Skijoring on the REI website. I totally want one of these so I can hook Trooper up to my toboggan!

Lumber Jack

When I arrived at the farm yesterday there was a surprise waiting for me.

ammo the dachshund lumber jack

A Lumber Jack had come and chopped down lots of trees.

ammo the dachshund lumber jack

At first I was sad because I was worried about where all my squirrel friends would go, but mom assured me that with 20 acres of trees on the farm there would be plenty of other places for them to live – and the trees had to be taken down to make room for Trooper’s new house!

ammo the dachshund lumber jack

Trooper’s new house you say?

ammo the dachshund lumber jack

Well then I better get busy finding the perfect spot to build me and Trooper’s wrestle room. It’s gotta be big enough to fit bunk beds and a trampoline!

I’ve announced the winner of my 2012 Calendar, click here to see if it’s you!

It’s Turkey Time

I’m here to wish everyone a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

ammo the dachshund thanksgiving

I’m excited to spend the day with my family and even my best pal Trooper. And I’m especially excited to park myself under the dining table and wait for all the food scraps to fall.

ammo the dachshund thanksgiving

I’ve been practicing, and I’m pretty sure I could fit a whole turkey in my mouth if I had to. I can hardly wait!

On this day, I also wanted to say how very thankful I am to have so many wonderful internet friends that enjoy reading my daily adventures. Your comments and special notes make me feel oh-so-special and it makes me smile whenever I know that I was able to brighten your day.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING  xoxo your pal,

The Adventures of Rocket Dog

Ever since my mom made me my very own rocket pack I’ve been itching to have some Halloween adventures! So it was just my luck when we hosted a SUPER HERO Halloween party at my house last weekend.

ammo the dachshund rocket dog

I of course dressed up as Rocket Dog, complete with my led glowdoggie collar too!

ammo the dachshund rocket dog & the rocketeer

And I think mom was jealous of my rocket pack, so she made herself one too and dressed up as the Rocketeer.

captain hindsight

Dad on the other hand went the more obscure route and dressed up as Captain Hindsight (honestly no one was really sure who he was). In hindsight he probably should have been something everyone was more familiar with. hehe.

Of course I had to invite my best friend Trooper to the party. And wouldn’t you know he dressed up as his favoritest Super Hero of all…..ME!

I spent most of the evening contemplating when my big adventure might happen and just at the right moment I rocketed out the front door with my rocket pack when mom and dad weren’t looking. hehe.

All the super heroes at my party went running through the neighborhood trying to catch me as I zoomed about with my rocket pack. Mom says thankfully they were able to spot me easily with my glowdoggie collar on and Captain Hindsight (aka dad) jumped in a briar bush after me. Sadly I snagged my rocket pack on something in the woods and my amazing Halloween adventure came to an abrupt end.

I was pretty bummed about losing my rocket pack, but atleast it was fun while it lasted!

I’ll always remember you rocket pack and the fun times we had!

Incognito

spider the kitten

It’s fall on the farm, and it’s my favorite time of year. Even Spider the kitten is excited about the new fallen leaves.

spider the kitten

I have to say I’m a wee bit jealous of her – as she’s become a master at going incognito in her leaf surroundings.

cricket and spider

Even Cricket can’t figure out how not to stick out like a sore thumb.

trooper

And Trooper, don’t even get me started on him, sometimes I don’t even think he tries!

ammo the dachshund

I on the other hand “might” be able to pull off the incognito look, had somebody (*cough* mom) not dressed me in BRIGHT BLUE! Sheesh!

ammo the dachshund

But, despite my shortcomings in the incognito department I can still chase the cats….

ammo the dachshund

….and romp with the dogs. Blue coat and all! Happy Fall to All!

Epic Battle

ammo and trooper

Me and Trooper were hanging out at the farm last night, picking up leftover grain under the feed tubs, when we suddenly remembered we had something really important to do.

ammo and trooper

We had an epic battle to attend to….of Jedi vs. Jedi in an ultimate lightsaber battle of wits!

epic battle ammo and trooper

Let the battle begin!

ammo and trooper

It was pretty intense, so I had to take frequent refueling breaks at the water bowl. A Jedi can’t fight thirsty afterall.

epic battle ammo and trooper

The battle lasted for hours…although we could have gone on for days. But in the end….

epic battle ammo and trooper

….somehow we both ended up snuggled next to each other on the couch. Honestly, I have no idea how we got there – it must have been one EPIC battle!

Birthday Week: More Gifts!

Just when I thought there were no more presents to be had during Birthday week I got an extra special surprise in the mail all the way from Canada!

ammo the dachshund - glowdoggie

Leila & Harriet from Glowdoggie sent me one of their new neon green mini collars for my Birthday! Aren’t they so sweet. And they must have known how much of a spoiled sport Trooper is too, because they sent one along for him too.

ammo the dachshund - glowdoggie

I’m pretty certain that we will be playing “star wars” with our new “light sabers” out on the farm very very soon.

ammo the dachshund - glowdoggie

So thanks girls! I’m sending some wet nose kisses your way!

molly mutt dog duvet

Mom also surprised me with one more gift (which hasn’t quite arrived yet…..shame on her for ordering too late) – it’s a new Molly Mutt duvet cover! Now I just have to decide whether to put it on my dog bed at home – or in the shop…..hummm decisions, decisions.

And because every good party host has party favors for their guests – here are some deals offered up especially for all my friends….

Glowdoggie: Get FREE SHIPPING to the US when you mention AMMO at checkout!
Molly Mutt: 10% off your entire order with code yourock11

All my deals are now conveniently located on the sidebar of my blog….yeah for saving money!

Birthday Week: My Presents!

Yippee! I had a pretty fun Birthday yesterday!

ammo the dachshund birthday hat

My day started off pretty regular, but then my bestest pal Trooper came to spend the day with me at the shop.

ammo's birthday

We pretty much did the normal stuff….

trooper and ammo wrestling

…you know, taking turns wearing the party hat and trying to eat each other…..

ammo's birthday

….I swear I won the match! And not just because it was my Birthday!

minnow the painting pony

After work I headed out to the farm where Minnow and all my pony friends sang Happy Birthday to me! I won’t lie, I made them sing it twice just for kicks.

Then back at home I FINALLY got to open my Birthday gifts from mom and dad.

ammo's birthday

Mom baked me some very special Birthday Bones and I got some new toys to play with too!

ammo's birthday

Just in case you are wondering, no I’m not going to share.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday on my Facebook Page! I feel so loved! And don’t worry, Birthday week isn’t over yet – I still have a whole bunch more fun in store!

Agility with Cows

Ok, so maybe I didn’t EXACTLY do agility with the cows, but they certainly did interrupt my first attempt at a dog agility course. Over the weekend while I was hanging out at the Chadds Ford Days event, me and my pal Trooper got to test out a dog agility course. Neither of us have done a course before, although I had had a basic intro to agility class last winter. But, this was the first time I got to do the tunnel, or any of the jumps, and I had never been on a balance board before. I actually really enjoyed it!

Doesn’t it look like fun! Mom says maybe this winter I can take some more agility classes, and I can’t wait! Trooper even got a chance to try it himself.

Go Trooper! Although he probably would have done even better had he been wearing his Super Cape like I was! Doesn’t he know it’s all in the wardrobe?

Wild Ride

Holy Cannoli! Boy did I have a busy weekend!

Ammo and Trooper at the fair

This picture of me and Trooper pretty much sums up the adventurous weekend I had. Don’t worry, I didn’t actually have to ride a bull, but I did have to entertain lots of children (and adults), sniff a whole bunch of dog butts, eat funnel cake, and I even ran through an agility course…twice!

As you can see, I’m a pretty hard working Dachshund.

To prove my point, here’s a BEFORE shot of me and Trooper just getting started on our weekend adventure at the Chadds Ford Days.

And here’s us AFTER a weekend full of excitement!

Even super dogs need to catch up on their sleep once in a while.
