Music in the Park

Just a few days before my sister was born I attended one last event with my mom and dad as an only “fur child”.

Music in the Park with Ammo the Dachshund

This was the first time I went to my town’s Music in the Park event, and boy was I in for a treat.

See all the children at the event seemed to know that I was going to be a big brother soon, so they took it upon themselves to break me in.

P.S. How cool is this kid’s “Indiana Jones*” outfit, now that would make a cool Halloween costume! *affiliate link

Sticky faces and lots of love, I was pretty sure I could totally get used to this.

One last photo with my mom and dad before we became a family of 4. I had no idea how much better it was going to get.

Then before I knew it, my sister was here – and guess what – I got to take her to music in the park a few days later!

Here’s a short video of me attending the event before she was born, and then again when she could enjoy it too!

I’m thinking I might need to teach my sister some of my sweet dance moves when she gets bigger. I didn’t want to show her up and break them out this time, but next time for sure!

Meet My Sister

So It’s been a little while since I’ve checked back in with all of you, but it’s been for a good reason! Many of you may have already seen the good news on Facebook, but on August 7, 2016 the newest member of my family made her long awaited appearance!

Meet My Sister // Ammo gets a sibling

Meet Pyper!

While I couldn’t be there for the actual birth (apparently even well behaved dogs like myself aren’t allowed in the maternity ward at the hospital) Mom tells me she weighed 7lbs 7oz and was 21 inches long. That’s almost as long as me!

Meet My Sister // Ammo gets a sibling

And from the day she was born she had these super long beautiful eyelashes, you know the kind only girls are supposed to have.

Meet My Sister // Ammo gets a sibling

Nearly 2 months have passed since Pyper was born, and we’ve already gone on lots of adventures together. I can’t wait to share more about what we’ve been up to lately, but there’s a reason it’s taken me so long to even share with all of you on the blog that she’s finally here …

Meet My Sister // Ammo gets a sibling

….sister never quite got the newborn memo that napping is fun! Obviously she doesn’t take after her big brother, but don’t worry, I’m trying my hardest to teach her how fun naps can be.

So while during the day my sister is up and ready for fun most of the time, she mostly gives me my beauty rest at night by sleeping 7 – 8 hours! But this also means Mom, Dad, and I are stretched pretty thin trying to get things done at the shop during the day (while also taking care of sister) as well as all the usual fun activities we like to do that take up time.

I plan to share more of our adventures with all of you soon, but it just may take me a little longer than normal to keep the blog updated at a regular pace. But incase you were still missing your daily dose of Ammo, I have been, and always will be updating my Instagram and Facebook Pages. So make sure you’re following me on there! Ammo the Dachshund // Blog Signature // Celebrity

Adventure Awaits! So stay tuned!

Tail Wagging Fun

Happy! Ammo the Dachshund

I’ve always been the type of dog that knows how to have fun. I can make a bad day into a good day with the flick of my tail and a toothy grin.

Tail Wagging Fun - Happiest Dog Ever

And sometimes it’s just an average day lounging on the couch, and you just can’t help but wag your tail and smile. It’s infectious…

So whether you’re having a bad day or not, just remember, keep that tail wagging and everything will be ok.

I can Bear-ly Wait

I Can Bear-ly Wait

Not that long ago I received a very special package in the mail from my pal Sharkie‘s grandma.

I Can Bear-ly Wait

Not only did it include this adorable handmade sweater for me, but also some super fun items for my sister and I to enjoy.

I Can Bear-ly Wait

I Can Bear-ly Wait

Seriously how cute are these poncho, booties, and cowgirl boots for my little sister? I just know she’s absolutely going to love them once she gets here.

I Can Bear-ly Wait

But my favorite thing of all was this super awesome bear cowl!

I Can Bear-ly Wait

Does it make me look ferocious and bear-like? Well not too ferocious, you know, because I don’t want to be scaring my sister.

I Can Bear-ly Wait

Speaking of my sister, Sharkie’s Grandma made her one too! How cool is that!

I Can Bear-ly Wait

Since I knew these beautifully made items would be so much fun for my sister and I to wear, I thought it would be appropriate to start practicing my story-time skills (with a bear theme of course) for when she gets here. Unfortunately I don’t own Goldilocks and the Three Bears (you better get on that mom!), but I do have this really fun book about National Parks*, and you all know how much I love the great outdoors!

I Can Bear-ly Wait

And of course it has bears! Maybe someday I’ll get to take my sister on a fun road-trip to visit these national parks in person (some of which I’ve already visited myself – and saw bears in too!)

I Can Bear-ly Wait

Now I just have to wait for my sister to get here so I can actually read it to her!

Thanks to Suzanne for her amazing crocheting skills. My sister and I will treasure these items always! Ammo the Dachshund // Blog Signature // Celebrity

Do you have any recommendations for fun bear-themed books I can read to my sister when she comes?

Toy Troubles

A few weeks ago mom picked me out a new toy basket*.

Dog Toy Troubles

Once I got over the initial confusion on it’s intended use (I mean it “could” double as a dog bed don’t you think)….it was time to test out it’s real function in holding my toys.

This is going to be a much bigger adjustment than I thought. Perhaps some new toys for my basket with help me with this big change… *wink*

Oh the Places You Sleep: Vol. 16

With my baby sister set to arrive in a few short weeks mom and dad have been telling me I better rest up now. Because when the baby comes I won’t get to do as much napping. Don’t worry, I’m an expert at catching some Zzzz’s, just check out where I’ve been sleeping this past month….

Certified Baby Gear Tester

With the anticipated date of my little sister’s arrival getting closer and closer I’ve found myself with a brand-new, very important, job to do!

Certified Baby Gear Tester

Certified Baby Gear Tester! And I’ve totally earned the title too because I’ve been testing a whole lot of gear….

Most of these baby items have passed my rigorous inspection, however there may be a few I have to confiscate. For no other reason other than they look more like they are built for a furry little sausage body instead of a baby. 😉

Either way, I’m sure my sister won’t mind sharing a few of her baby gear items with me anyway….especially since I went to all the trouble of testing them for safety for her first!

A Holiday Weekend

Over the 4th of July Weekend mom and I took a little extra time off from working at the shop. I work pretty hard, and it’s nice to take a break sometimes to unwind and have some fun. Of course my family’s idea of fun is squeezing in as many adventures as possible – so I made sure to do a little bit of everything over the weekend!

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

I kicked things off with a campfire in the backyard. Because it wouldn’t be the 4th without a good old fashioned weenie roast. (don’t worry….actual dachshund wasn’t on the menu)

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

Then it was time for a Saturday morning breakfast out in town, followed by catching a game of little league baseball. After all I gotta get practicing my team coaching skills for when my little sister gets here and is ready to join a sports team!

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

Then it was time to celebrate a very special ladies’ 92 Birthday! I loved getting to celebrate my Super MomMom’s B-day with the family.

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

Family makes everything more fun!

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

Of course it wouldn’t be a “vacation” if I didn’t do some laps around the farm.

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

Just enough to warrant a 3 hour nap of course!

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

I even got to check out a hot air balloon launch. It was pretty cool, but I’m pretty happy just watching from the ground….that fire looked terrifying!

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

While I’m not a huge fan of fireworks (I alternate between hiding in the basement, and barking my head off at them in anger….can’t make up my mind if I’m scared or just pissed really), I did track down some of “nature’s fireworks” with a sunset trip to the lake. Nothing better.

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

4th of July was finally here and I couldn’t miss the celebration in town. Good food and family fun, a perfect way to celebrate America!

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

Then it’s off to the farm again to track down some groundhogs.

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

Well, and maybe do a farm chore or two too!

Holiday Weekend with Ammo the Dachshund

And to end the perfect holiday weekend, a cookout of epic proportions….where corn on the cob is necessary for a small dachshund’s survival. (well at least thats what I would have my family think…..and you better not tell them otherwise!)

I’m pretty sure after this weekend I’m going to need to sleep for an entire week. What sort of fun did your pups get into? Any other dogs out there can’t make up their mind about how they feel about fireworks? Ammo the Dachshund // Blog Signature // Celebrity

Party for a Horse

Throwing a party for a horse

What’s better than watermelon on a hot summer day? I’ll tell you what….

Throwing a party for a horse

…a party for a horse! Not just any horse, but my pal Willis! See way back last year he got a pretty bad leg injury in the pasture (here we are watching a time-lapse video of his serious wound, and don’t worry, I spared you the close-up details). Since he’s about to turn 30 years old this year….and finally over his injury, we decided to throw a party to celebrate!

Throwing a party for a horse

Everyone on the farm pitched in to help Willis heal, myself included. I was entertainment for him when he was stuck inside for months, and I helped keep him company on his daily walks.

Throwing a party for a horse

After some food and reminiscing about how far Willis has come, we all headed out to the barn to see the big guy himself.

Throwing a party for a horse

Willis’ owner, and even the vet who helped save him along with everyone else at the farm came out to celebrate.

Throwing a party for a horse

Willis got a big “carrot cake” and lots of love since we’re all so happy to see him recovered.

Throwing a party for a horse

Even Minnow was excited for the party, although he may have been a bit jealous he didn’t get a carrot cake too.

Throwing a party for a horse

Finally time to relax, since Mr. Willis is going to be just fine now. You hear that Willis? No more injuries, because this dog can’t take another one!

A Tether Tug Toy for Tough Dogs + A Giveaway

Disclosure: This post and giveaway is brought to you by Tether Tugs. All opinions are my own, and I only share products I think you and your pets will love.

Sometimes even us farm dogs need to take a break from chores to have a little fun. So when our new friends over at Tether Tug sent Trooper and I one of their tug toys we knew it would be the perfect way to let out a little energy out on the farm.

A Tether Tug Toy for Tough Dogs + A Giveaway #ad

Dad set it up in the grass for us by hammering a small pipe into the ground and then you simply pop the tug pole into it. Dad says it’s super simple too to just pull right out and mow over when it’s time to mow the lawn.

Mom initially popped a small treat into the rope to get me interested in it, which totally got me excited about the Tether Tug!

A Tether Tug Toy for Tough Dogs + A Giveaway #ad

While I certainly love a new toy, I tend to like to just shake or chew my toys to death rather than to play tug with them, but somebody else I know was totally up to the challenge of a good old tugging match to really test out the Tether Tug….

A Tether Tug Toy for Tough Dogs + A Giveaway #ad

Trooper wasted no time in showing me exactly how you’re supposed to play with the Tether Tug.

Even Cricket ventured out to see what all the commotion was about, and pretty soon we all started cheering for Trooper to PULL HARDER!

And pull he did!

But no matter how hard Trooper pulled that Tether Tug stayed firmly in the ground where it was supposed to be, and boy did Trooper have fun tugging!

The cool thing about these Tether Tugs is that not only do they come in various sizes (for small and big dogs) as well as indoor and outdoor versions, but you can also customize the tugging toy based on the kind of toy your dog likes to tug with. How cool is that!
