My First Pony

Boy, I had a busy weekend – so today I’m taking a little time to rest. Instead of posting about all my amazing adventures, I’m gonna show you a little Retro me action!

Here’s a few photos from my VERY FIRST visit to see the ponies when I was just a wee pup. It also happened to be my very first experience with snow.

As you can see it was love at first sight….on both accounts!

Snowcat

Yesterday we got more snow. It was fantastic. Everything smells different when it snows.

It’s like I get to re-sniff everything I sniffed before. Even my pal Spider the Kitten likes the snow.

I pretty much taught her everything she knows.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to get back to exploring my new world.

My Shadow

I have a shadow, as in a kitten shadow, as in Spider the Kitten.

See at the farm it’s MY JOB to help mom bring hay to the ponies! Well now that Spider is getting bigger, she’s trying to be just like me. I mean I know I’m pretty cool, but does she have to do everything I do?

What’s even worse is that she’s trying to show me up!

True, sometimes I get a little distracted from my duties.

It’s kinda hard not to get distracted when there are so many great smells.

But really Spider? Do you have to ride in the wheel barrel and help hand out hay? Come on. You’re making me look bad!

Friday Fetch: Weenie Sweaters

Ok, so I know that NOT everyone out there that reads my blog is a Dachshund, but I just can’t help but come across some of those fabulous products that have DACHSHUND written all over them. So if you aren’t a Dachshund, or you don’t have a Dachshund friend (for shame!) then look away. Otherwise, check out these totally awesome sweaters made to fit the short and long!

Every Stitch Counts makes sweaters (and neck warmers called snoods) from all-natural re purposed virgin fibers. All of the wools are felted making them especially strong, warm and weather “proof”.

Since my Pennsylvania winters can be a little harsh for me, I decided to order myself a sweater! Being that I’m a Tweenie (for you non-doxie folks that means I’m too big to be a miniature dachshund and too small to be a standard dachshund), there wasn’t a selection of sweaters in my size. But luckily Susan from Every Stitch Counts said she would make one specifically to fit me!

So if you are looking for something to keep your little Dachshund friend warm, be sure to shop the handmade shop of Every Stitch Counts. P.S. Tell them Ammo sent you!

Frodo the Dachshund models his sweater and snood! Doesn’t he look super warm?

And here’s me in my new sweater!

Look! I can even stretch really long and it still fits!

You better believe I’m super warm and toasty out at the farm now!

P.S. I was not paid to write this post, I just like warm and fuzzy sweaters!

2011 Snowstorm

On Thursday I woke up to 16 inches of fluffy white stuff!

I know….fabulous right?

Mom and Dad didn’t think it was so fabulous….especially since the snow blower broke! (and a couple of snow shovels in the process of digging out). But at least we all got a snow day!

I of course made the most of my snow day.

What’s a snow day without a couple of backyard tunnels anyway?

Ponies + Dachshund + Snow = Fun

My snow day recap…..

Me: I will Blitz! Just as soon as I get my snow suit on!

Blitz: But me and Boomer have already started having fun without you!

Me: Nooooo! I’m coming! Don’t have anymore fun without me!

Me: I’d be there faster if you came and helped me dig myself out!

Sigh.

Sometimes I just miss out on all the fun!

Sledding

Yes, that’s right…..I’m a sledding expert!

Take me to the mountain please!

The only bad part about sledding in the horse pasture at the farm…..you have to look out for frozen “horse” piles! (makes for a bumpy ride)

Is someone gonna push me or what?

Woohoo!

The hardest part about sledding is walking your sled back up the hill!

Just beware….sledding can be chilly…..

…but a couple extra layers of clothing should do the trick!

Any of my doggie pals been sledding this winter? Post your sledding pictures on my Facebook Page!

All-Weather Farm Dog

I’ll be the first to admit that rainy, wet, and cold weather are not my FAVORITE type of days. I’d much rather have a sunny/warm day to go sunbathing, chase bugs and play in the dirt.

So when we arrived at the farm on Tuesday morning, I’ll admit, I thought long and hard about crying until mom put me back in the car.

But then I remembered….

No. 1 …I’m not a Pansie

No. 2…There was no way I was gonna let a little sleeting rain and ice make me miss all the fun!

Snowy Walk

My walk into work yesterday was filled with lots of the white stuff! Perfect for making yellow snow, if you know what I mean!

I had my paws crossed for a snow day, alas all I got was a snowy walk.

At least I DID get to run around and play in the snow on Tuesday night…until mom and dad made me come inside. I could have stayed out there for hours.

I better get a snow day soon though! Afterall, what is winter for?

Snow Day

I have more to tell you about my exciting Christmas, but I thought I’d interrupt for a little snow day! Santa must have known how much I love the snow, because he ordered up a snowstorm for the day after Christmas! Yipee!

What made it even better was that I got to share my snow day with the ponies at the farm.

Here’s a picture of me on the way to the farm. If you can’t tell I’m uber excited!

I got to help with all kinds of chores around the farm, like bringing hay out to the ponies.

And I got to have a little fun too. Nothing like a good romp in the snow!

Ah, it was a great day to be a dog!
